Hey, Hey It's Saturday, I used to watch it in the TV'AM days. I still buy Fairy Liquid and I am influenced by the ones featuring Nanette Newman proving to us that it can last longer than other brands and the 'Hands That Do Dishes'... series of adverts.
The little girl in the 'Palm Pet' advert - when she says "S'all right, rabbit", that might be the most convincing piece of acting ever on an advert (not including public information films). For that second, life mattered.
The animation on the Weetabix ads are very familiar. Very good but I can't put my finger who might of done them. Maybe it's A Film or the "The Pagemaster" guy.
The old lady that says "Yeesssss" on that bacon ad scares me somewhat... XD
That Hippopotomousse ad is absolutely brilliant! Then again, you know how much of a fan I am of cartoon ads like that. Is the company brought by Nestle? It's a very familiar logo.
that plam pet i well remember that i also remember going where are the ads for these new turtles ive brought they were shown more in 1990. I love the transformers voice over man and must say we got shortchanged with action force gi joe was a better name plus we didnt get the uss flagg. search for uss flagg on here its a 7ft long toy no messing.
Loved that Hippo Pot a Mousse. "Come on. Dive in" is a classic slogan up there with "Suck 'em and see." I notice Rising Damp's Don Warrington on VO duties. And The Bill's Burnside doing a VO for Wheatabix.
I don't remember any of the toy ads as I was at worky worky back then. Old Nanette Newman must've made more than a few more pence doing those Fairy ads. Tee hee, chuckle. Guffaw...
I have that Palm Pets advert along with a few other toy ad's, though this was broadcasted during an episode of 'Hey, Hey It's Saturday' on TV-Am in 1991. Hey hey it's saturday now! LOL.
I know this is a little obscure, but the little girl in the Palm Pets ad speaks just like Hugh, the ex-back row Dad's Army platoon extra and latter-day friend of Armando Iannucci, whose "memories" of the old days used to make me chuckle!
Whilst on the subject of sound, there were tons of drum-machine "handclaps" in late 80s ads. And what a horrible noise the dinner guests make in the Fairy ads when their tables vanish!
I don't watch Dad's Army, so I can't confirm that. Though I do vagily remember that Hippopotamouse ad. There was even a chocolate flavour ad where the hippo was in the jungle. This wasen't shown until 91 though.

Crumbs, somebody insulting Nanette Newman! Isn't that a hanging offence? National Treasure etc..

@Jodamu Nanette Newman has reality-shaping powers, don't make her angry.

For anyone interested, just type "hugh cecil" into the YouTube Search box. It's quite amusing at times!
