i just heard the ending of this story on the radio, before then i really believed that the story was just a child's fable. I have infinitely more respect for it now that i see it portrays some very important messages. The final message it imparted was that it wanted to be free from the shackles of commercialism, not to be censored or plagiarized for means of gain, so that someone, somewhere may read them and take from it a message that may help them better understand the corrupt world we live in

OK give me ONE reason why the original is NOT a comedy. You people are messed up, just because the older ones we're classic movies doesn't mean they are even good, Gullivers Travels was awful back in the day, and ALSO a comedy, there has YET to be a good movie about the story, the books however, are another story altogether. At least Jack Black doesnt make me as sick as Richard Harris did in the the 1977 adaptation, don't get me wrong Richard Harris is great, but what an awful role for him.

Ok, so I was reading this book called Gulliver's Travels. It was written by some dude named Johnathan Swift. Seems it's one of the most culturally important pieces of social satire ever written. "Gulliver's Travels" is one of the most celebrated literary works. Modernizing it is bad enough, but casting Jack Black as the titular Gulliver and making it some cheap family comedy is little more than a pathetic, whorish ploy from Hollywood to get a buck off of the audience going to see Black's recycled brand of loud 'n zany comedy, coupled with tiny people in another forgettable 3D spectacle.

Boy it hasn't been the best year for adaptations of good books. Alice in Wonderland and Voyage of the Dawn Treader looked nice, but there was sort of an empty feel to them overall. This doesn't even seem like an adaptation really, more like a reference. If a movie is going to make changes they have to at least add something to the film. Well who knows it may be okay. Jack Black films are either a hit or miss and maybe it won't be so bad. Couldn't be worse than some of the others like Year One.
