The song was written by Mickey Denton. I had the pleasure of playing in a few different groups with Mickey and all I can say is PROFESSIONAL. He's still playing clubs in Cincinnati - he won't quit until he joins that big band in the sky. -mb
Gene Hughes was my 2nd cousin and Ron operated a record studio in Nashville. I remember all the guys Gene, both his brothers Ron and Glenn ( original Motoercycle guy on the village people ) they used to come by the house for dinner at my Grandmothers home.
Her Name was Jean and she was married to my Grandfather his Name was also Glen Hughes. We all came from Cincinnati Ohio.
PJ, you've done it again! What a fantastic post. I have this album somewhere in the basement?? Bogart's is still there and still rockin. (Casinos played there often.)
Nice post! I worked with the Casinos in 1967 for a few shows but I never knew they were on any label but Fraternity (same songs). I have yet to listen to their album!! Gene Hughes was hard to get to know but Ray White, Mickey Denton, Pete Bolton and Bob Armstrong were a lot of fun. Gene was killed in an auto accident in 2002.
Thanks for the info...I didn't know that and my reference books don't mention it either. I had just assumed that since the Casinos were from Cincinatti and Fraternity was based there too that it was the original label. I learn something every day!!
I've heard the rumor that Buccaneer was the first label the record was on, however Ron Hughes (Gene's brother) told me that Fraternity was their original label for the record and that the Buccaneer issue is from the early 1970's. Keep in mind, Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye was NOT their first Fraternity single and their earlier Fraternity singles have not turned up on other labels. I have a Link Wray reissue on the Buccaneer label as well.

I THOUGHT the original was on Fraternity. Also I knew Gene's brother Glenn, but not Ron. Guess he didn't travel with them.

Buccaneer is the label Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye / I Still Love You was released on. It was leased to Fraternity shortly thereafter.

Fraternity WAS the original label. Buccaneer was an early 1970's reissue label.
