In Normandy we are celebrating the 11th century anniversary of Normandy with festivals all over Normandy for the year. We have a lot of place names and cities deriving from the old norse tongue. Mostly of Danish origins but quite a lot of Norwegian and also of Danelaw origins. My family name Anquetil derives from Asketill. Scandinavian cousins you are always welcome in Normandy!

I like battle reconstruction groups but I also pity them as well because everybody knows at the time of the Vikings there would have been heads, arms and legs flying off people in all directions. well just so you all know this and get your research right plz :) Vikings came from Denmark first..then they went to sweden and norway but must of the humans in norway and sweden where farmers and servers to the danish vikings. and at that time norway was danish too :) just so you know.

@smik2630 Norway became a kingdom in the 900's just like Denmark. Sweden didn't become united under one king until the 1500's. Norway's Viking Kings, like Harald Hardrade, conquered many lands and was paid taxes from countries like Ireland and Scotland. There is even a beer now named for Norway's king Magnus the Viking ("legbiter" the name of his sword) who died in Ireland. Norway was not Danish. Norway lost two thirds of it's population in the 1500's to the black plague. Denmark took over

There are loads of viking festivals all over the baltic and Scandinavia. Gotland used to be the largest, but I really couldn't tell if this still holds true.
