Good stuff, very solid in terms of mixing. The break at around 5:30 was a bit too long for my taste, and more tracks wouldn't been more interesting, but those are minor issues. In terms of long, technical mixes, they are important, but don't be reluctant to throw in a few short mixes as well. In fact most winners of this competition tend to do very quick mixes (not that you should model yourself after the winners, I rarely agree with the judges :) Anyway, definite improvement, so keep at it.
Thanks all. I really don't think this one is anywhere near a competition winner and posted it for fun more than anything. My November entry should be going up today if all goes to plan and hopefully it will be more of a contender:)
+1 on the congrats for the new mixer! Lets hope you can stick at the rice and 2 jobs to upgrade your CDJ's. Your really committed - thats called Fire in your belly - Dont lose it! Mix Was enjoyable, you have the right idea, its all about learning from other people on here.
Thanks Haseeb. Next up are CDJ800's but im down to only one job now so i can spend more time practicing so it'll be a while before they're in the picture. Cheers for the words of encouragement.
Dude.. Dont lose the flow, how do you tink I afford all my equipment? 2jobs - 60-70hours/week! Just bought A pair of technics 1210's and Serato recently. Look for bar work.. then work your way into the DJ booth ;)
Well. I've got my first sets in clubs coming in a few weeks and the plan is to put away the money I make from the first few to buy the CDJ's. To put it in perspective I get paid 3800rmb per month for teaching. I get paid 1500rmb for a 2 hour set so if i do 3 of them a month i'll have a pair of 800's in no time:)
Basically what i'm looking to do is have as many different syles and techniques as part of my arsenal. I think this type of mixing is definitely more professional but on the other hand it really lends itself to certain types of music... namely prog. If i were to mix like this in a chinese club in would be a waste of effort as it would be unappreciated. A balance of style and economy of motion is what i'm aiming for.
Track list pleaseeeeee!!!!!!
