I've listened to humble pie before, but never knew that frampton had been in this band. Not untill i read that he got his Humble pie era les paul back, after it had been missing for nearly 30 years. Hopefully he'll be rocking 'n rolling with it again for a long time to come!
This is a kickass song!! Got the L P, yea I am a little older, probably than most of you. And DAMN PROUD OF IT!! Anyways, to cougar1233, " Thunderbox" is slang for a womans private parts. New Orelans style!! P S THIS IS NOT AN OUTHOUSE!!!! xo <3
Along with Rory Gallagher and John Entwistle, Steve Marriott is somebody I really wished I'd seen live. Taken away from us way too soon. This song kicks ass on so many levels.
@macseinchin I wished you had too....I was lucky enough to see Steve play with the Pie in both Frampton and Clempson versions. The guy was a natural force of nature on stage, only small in stature but a giant in music. Cheers, Tony.
As always Steve shows everyone what real rock and roll is all about. No fireworks, no makeup, no stage props. This is what real music is always was and always will be. Steve still lives on , and by the way a Thunderbox is a slang for a great pussy.
Thunderbox. A must have for the times. "Rollin with a Thunderbox" I think it's about Marriotts vocals. "He's a thunderbox". Featuring the blackberries. This is the one that freaked out the American following. They went motown while everyone else was going arena. Funny, they could do what ever they wanted. A classic in defying conventional wisdom. Classic Pie.
No doubt, Marriott had the chops and the soul. It's what sets him apart. He just ignored what everyone told him and steered his own ship. It's just brilliant work.
this rocks, always did, always has, always will. marriott was not commercialy viable, but to people like me, this is the best toe tapping rock there will ever be.......
The Pie were a great live band and a big concert draw, but for some reason their album sales kinda lagged behind. Its a shame that both Steve and Greg have left us.
it was my first pie album in 1974. turn out to be a forever pie fan until this day. a real pity they split up soon after. thanks for posting this clip bro.
Hell yea, takes me back to the good ol days, when Steve and the boys were around, Thunderbox was my CB handle for a long time in the late 70's...MORE PIE PLEASE!!!
I could never understand how Humble Pie was not the commercial success they should have been !

Now I know why mom never let me listen to this song. Back then I couldn't understand a word Marriot was singing. Funny how my mom could.

what a voice!. but what happened to 'for your love'
please bring it back. His voice lifted the song to a place beyond the original which was no mean feat.

Even "Eat It" had lots of R&B, motown-ish material on it, but Thunderbox was loaded with it.
