This sure is a sweet video, I remember this day like it was yesterday, I had just thrown off the lines at the dock and we were heading into the canal. I was onboard as watchman during this trip!
I remember seeing the Ryerson earlier this year for the first time ever, laid up at Fraser Shipyards in Superior Wisconsin along with the Adam E Cornelius and the American Victory, wish I could have seen her doing what she was built to do rather than laid up, but still an amazing sight regardless.
I don't know if enough people realise what an immense cultural and historic treasure this is. And sadly I may never have the honour of working on one of them, or any trading steamship for that matter.
Last October I rushed out to the Canal (from NH) to see the Ryerson, and missed it! It had gone to Valleyfield instead of doing a straight run from Quebec. Your video is almost as good as being there! Thanks.

That is one of my favorite ships on the canal...I love it's art-deco design...the only one I like better is the Cuyahoga

Could someone let me know what taconite pellets are?
Thanks for posting.

@SteffanLlwyd Taconite pellets are made of iron ore, which is used in the steel-making process.
