This kit came out back in the late 1980's early 90's. I believe. Good kit for it's day. Certainly better than most of the crap that was being touted at the time. Quality was way higher. Only issue I would have had is with the matches and the size of the fish hooks ( too big) and that would be easy enough to fix.

If I was putting a kit together now I would buy one of Doug Ritter's Pocket survival kits. Have that in a pocket and a Swiss Champ ( I E.D.C. one) on my belt.

@johnmonk66 the victorinox kit is actually quite decent. the compass is quite good. the mag-lite ... well, it's a solitaire, but it's the real deal, not some no-name crap. yeah, it's not cheap, but the quality is there and the stuff is actually usable, unlike e.g. the coghlans crap.

The safety pins will help if you need to make sling for your or someone's arm you can make a fish hook or a needle to stitch your shirt things like that that is a few ways in witch a safety pin can help you

The knife is the SwissChamp..... However this guys camera lens is Freakishly distorting everything in this Video... Mine is sitting right here in front of me while i type this and its exactly One and a quarter inches wide.. This lens makes it look three inches wide.... and the SOS pouch has only one main pouch... This video make it appear as though there are two knife compartments.... Im not aware of any Swisschamp SOS kit that looks like that..His camera sucks and this guy creeps me out..

I have one of those Knives for many Years now with all of those Gadgets except that Hook thing and it is in it's own Yellow Leather Pouch. It is a very Refined Officers Knife and I dont think it would stand up to much Rough Treatment on the Trail. But it will do as an Emergency Knife and it does Work very Smoothly,the Gadgets come out very Smoothly. I would choose a Victorinox Swiss Trekker Knife for the Outdoors for Rough General Camping and this one only for Emergencies as it is Delicate.

the thing u did not know next to the crew drivers is a lock pick, shuv it in and wiggle it up and down the lock till u get it in place then wiggle more to u here a click, bingo

(useing it for other things like making holes might bend it so it will not be able to pick locks...)

I have a similar thing but smaller. It only has one knife pouch but it has the sharpening stone pencil mirror and matches as well as some other stuff. I never knew Victorinox made a kit this large.

I think the biggest Swiss Army Knife I need is the Ranger because I must have a multi-tool that has a file on it. And the Ranger has the smallest amount of tools while still having a good file on it--not counting the Classics. Plus it has all of my other 'must-have' tools: main blade, small blade, saw, scissors, corkscrew, and can/bottle openers. Nice video. Peace.

Have u seen the NEW SwissChamp, $500, 6" WIDE and so big it probably contains a pull out cot. Really, someone gave me a knife life urs many xmass ago. Carried it for 6 mos., wore a hole in my pocket. Found I never used most of the blades (I bent the saw trying to cut kindling while camping & who wants to smell up a gud knife by scaling a fish w/it?). I kept score of what I used & what worked & found a model that contained everything I ever used: in my case the Explorer. Q: what do I do w/hook?
