I think that if 4kids wants to do dubs of shows that would make them more appealing for kids, and if the kids actually like it, then that's fine. But I also wish that there would be alternate dubs of the same shows that would actually do them justice, for fans of the originals.

@TheBeatlesPkmnFaan42 No the English version is better, the audio quality is better, the voice acting is better, the voices are in sync with the lips, and it isn't boring to listen to. The Japanese version is the exact opposite of what I said, the Japanese version has awful audio quality, out of sync vocals, awful voice acting except for Tiff and Kirby, and dull and boring to listen too, get your facts straight, the changes were a good thing considering they did a better job even editited.
I actually enjoy the 4kids versions of some shows because it makes it funnier (like Pokemon, for example). And sometimes when I listen to some of the dialogue from Pokemon, I wonder if it really is meant to be a kids show (probably because I go on Pokemopolis too much).

I watched Pokemon for a while until the old characters (Ash, Misty, Brock, Tracy, etc) left and from there, only once in a while I'll watch a newer Pokemon episode.

@LadyJuse Well, Japanese standards are supposedly more lenient than American standards, probably because cultural differences tend to make us picture Japanese children to be "wise beyond their years" compared to American children, therefore, Sonic X is a kids' show in Japan, but is a teen show in Amerca.
I get why 4kids would block off weapons, blood, violence, etc. but the thing that pisses me off is getting rid of Japanese culture (food, money, signs even though they are already in English text.)

Yeah, Pokemon was made by 4kids from the beginning all the way up until Season 8 I believe.
Also, Pokemon didn't first air on Kids WB. It was syndicated for the first 40 episodes. After that, Pokemon was picked up back Kids WB and they started airing new episodes from where it last picked off in syndication.
I've just learned to get over 4Kids and stop complaining about them. I personally don't like what they do to the animes with their edits and all. But you know, there's nothing I can do about it. So I simply don't watch their cartoons.

You're right Pokemon was okay (heck I LOVE pokemon!) but 4kids has LOST the class they has when the original Pokemon was on. And the reason why alot of us complain (Including myself) is they take shows for kids ages 9+ (Example) and make them for 4-5 year olds, which is WHY their anime is chopped so badly.
Yeah, so in other words, they take an anime for high school teenagers and try to make it for elementary school kids, especially since I can tell why teenagers and young adults made most of those complaints and a lot of anime otakus are in that demographic.
I miss Kirby and by Kirby I mean the episodes in english. Please, somebody make a playlist of all the seasons of the show in english. It was not a bad dub. The only bad dub was fucking One Piece.
I like 4Kids. I'm 14 and I still watch their shows on Saturday mornings. The dubs may not be the best, but they are making them for kids and kids tend to not care about the dubbing or even the quality of the show. And here on YouTube, 4Kids has been uploading the Japanese versions of some of their shows ( Yu-Gi-Oh and Sonic X). If they own the rights to it, I'm sure they will put the original version if you ask nicely.
I'm glad, because I'm glad there are kids who seem to be as highly intelligent as us teens ad young adults who are proud 4kids haters, and I think every single one of today's generation of kids should be like that as well!
I think I actually looked up that there's different English versions of some animes like One Piece. Hopefully the other version is at least a little better.

Lastly, I'm going to say this. It's funny how bad acting didn't bother us when we were little. We just plain loved how the show was. And I'm not sure whether or not it should matter if kids start loving these new shows that seem crappy or not. I mean, at least their happy... I think it should be a fact though that things back then were better than they are now. So many things are just about comedy now when back then some things were more heart felt and memorable. Just... different some how.

Ah, I forgot about Kid's WB. I was just thinking about that for a while. You know, I loved Cardcaptor Sakura and Yu-Gi-Oh! back then and also Pokemon. Pokemon used to be my favorite show. Now I outgrew Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! because of the corny acting. Now though I actually kind of miss Pokemon, both the show and even the games. I have a gaia account with the same name and I'm making a Pokemon profile right now. And I watched Card Captor Sakura again in Japanese. I love it. ^^
Sigh... When I was looking at a Mega Man X4 video on Iris's death (which is sad, but the voice acting makes it kind of funny. XD) some stupid person was all like "You've been watching too much 4kids, pal." when I was talking about English anime in general. Like Naruto's voice is annoying for example... And like, compare the manga of One Piece and Shaman King to the anime. I used to love the manga of these things when I was reading Shonen Jump. That used to be a lot of fun for me and my brother Adam. ^^ But now I see the show and they have bad acting in it, plus they made it into a kid's show when the mangas were for teens. And omg, in Shaman King in the manga you should see the Faust battle. That was like really messed up...

I so agree, because I often thought that the ultrarealsitc content in One Piece made the anime wildly popular enough to become appealing to teenagers, especially since the teenagers themselves were smart and innocent enough never to imitate that type of content ever since they were kids because of how important school was to them.
Kids WB! was on the verge of being killed ever since Jamie Kellner (who was in charge of Kids WB! programming at that time), started cancelling most of the highly-rated programs early on.

Well to answer your question as to weather I like or hate 4kids. I don't really care for the animes they dub, but I don't hate them. Especially not at a point where I want to kill the people who work there, especially Alfred R. Kahn.
I think the reason why some people find the FoxBox good is because some of them were younger kids at the time, including me. I also used to watch the FoxBox when I was 12 years old and I was watching Kirby and the new TMNT.
Hmm...I actually don't mind the Anime Dubs. I can't speak Japanese, and sometimes it can be a pain to read the subtitles, especially during an action scene, so it's nice to have an English version, where I can sit back and just watch.
I was about 8 when FoxBox was on, and funny enough, it premiered on my birthday, September 14th.

"Still appeal to kids..." NO. Just no. When I was 8 I didn't like it, when I was 9 I didn't even remember it. Got me with sonic and kirby for a few years. Since then haven't liked it. And I do agree it's called 4kids, so it must be for kids and people should stop whining about it. However, they made many unnecessary edits, one of which I found offensive. When they had one piece, they changed mihawks sword to look less like a cross. Again though, they are hated on a little too much.

The Japanese version is the exact opposite of what I said, the Japanese version has awful audio quality, out of sync vocals, awful voice acting except for Tiff and Kirby, and dull and boring to listen too, get your facts straight, the changes were a good thing considering they did a better job even editited.

I actually enjoy the 4kids versions of some shows because it makes it funnier (like Pokemon, for example). And sometimes when I listen to some of the dialogue from Pokemon, I wonder if it really is meant to be a kids show (probably because I go on Pokemopolis too much).
Also, if 4kids never dubbed Yu-gi-oh, I'd never know the epic win that is Yu-gi-oh: The Abridged Series.

Thank god that 4Kids drop the rights of One Piece for good and it's also good that this anime is been dubbed by funimations now. I don't think that 4Kids is going to hold Sonic X for long. They make unnessary edits by americanizing it completely. I'm glad that 4Kids never takes Megaman NT Warrior, Mobile Suit Gundam Series, Death Note, Samurai Pizza Cat, Coyboy Bebop, Digimon, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I watched Pokemon for a while until the old characters (Ash, Misty, Brock, Tracy, etc) left and from there, only once in a while I'll watch a newer Pokemon episode.
Was a big fan at 12, 13, 14, etc.

@coleboy44 all 4kids opening themes are awful, japanese are always better, you can make also another comparision, not by 4Kids, but for DiC who dubbed Sailor Moon, they changed the lyrics of a really great song and put another lyrics which are completely generic, Moonlight Densetsu had great lyrics on it that had everything to do with the anime plot, english version of it was cheesy, generic and cliché.

Yeah, Pokemon was made by 4kids from the beginning all the way up until Season 8 I believe.
Also, Pokemon didn't first air on Kids WB. It was syndicated for the first 40 episodes. After that, Pokemon was picked up back Kids WB and they started airing new episodes from where it last picked off in syndication.

You're right Pokemon was okay (heck I LOVE pokemon!) but 4kids has LOST the class they has when the original Pokemon was on. And the reason why alot of us complain (Including myself) is they take shows for kids ages 9+ (Example) and make them for 4-5 year olds, which is WHY their anime is chopped so badly.

I like 4Kids. I'm 14 and I still watch their shows on Saturday mornings. The dubs may not be the best, but they are making them for kids and kids tend to not care about the dubbing or even the quality of the show. And here on YouTube, 4Kids has been uploading the Japanese versions of some of their shows ( Yu-Gi-Oh and Sonic X). If they own the rights to it, I'm sure they will put the original version if you ask nicely.

Lastly, I'm going to say this. It's funny how bad acting didn't bother us when we were little. We just plain loved how the show was. And I'm not sure whether or not it should matter if kids start loving these new shows that seem crappy or not. I mean, at least their happy... I think it should be a fact though that things back then were better than they are now. So many things are just about comedy now when back then some things were more heart felt and memorable. Just... different some how.

Ah, I forgot about Kid's WB. I was just thinking about that for a while. You know, I loved Cardcaptor Sakura and Yu-Gi-Oh! back then and also Pokemon. Pokemon used to be my favorite show. Now I outgrew Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! because of the corny acting. Now though I actually kind of miss Pokemon, both the show and even the games. I have a gaia account with the same name and I'm making a Pokemon profile right now. And I watched Card Captor Sakura again in Japanese. I love it. ^^

Sigh... When I was looking at a Mega Man X4 video on Iris's death (which is sad, but the voice acting makes it kind of funny. XD) some stupid person was all like "You've been watching too much 4kids, pal." when I was talking about English anime in general. Like Naruto's voice is annoying for example... I like some voice actors though like Yuri Lowenthal for Sasuke in Naruto and Haseo in .Hack//G.U. He's cool. ^^ Johnny Yong Bosch is good too. :)

I usually like the English versions of things better, but some shows have some bad english acting in it where Japanese is actually better. For the most part, Japanese is just alright for me. Sometimes the girls are voiced to be really adorable though which they already are. ^^ lol. And it's too bad that they change the original openings and put in those corny ones. For some reason though, I'm actually thinking back on these openings now and wanting to enjoy them a little for whatever reason. XD

1.) Pokemon was done by 4Kids yes but back when they were decent. Back then they did a very decent job but later they started sucking. I too can watch the first season only because 4Kids didn't start ruining it.

Kids WB! was on the verge of being killed ever since Jamie Kellner (who was in charge of Kids WB! programming at that time), started cancelling most of the highly-rated programs early on.
"Pokemon", interestingly enough was the show that saved the network, followed by "Yu-Gi-Oh!" (following the 4Kids formula)... that is, until they cancelled Yu-Gi-Oh!
As The WB itself began to degrade itself (especially when Michigan was retired) so did Kids WB!.

I once stumbled across a petition that would encourage 4kids to branch out to 4teens so that teenagers and young adults can enjoy their favourite animes without any hassle, but there was a comment on that petition saying that it won't work because they're still going to censor it. Spiderman TAS was watered down. He couldn't punch anyone. How lame. I used to enjoy that show when I younger and I went back and rewatched it. The animation was stiff and the characters didn't have much personality.

The Show could have continued if someone at Fox whatever the directors name is hadnt shut down Marvels Indepedent Animation Studio. Besides the cartoon was supposed to be deifferent from the books So what if the personalities are different. its better than Spectacular Spiderman on Kids WB

to prove that 4kids arent making there dubs more suitable for kids then there japanease version counterparts is that me and my little brother have been watching stuff like dbz,naruto,etc since we were like 5 years old and nether of us are viloente or scared for life. and some if not a lot of the old anime dubs are also censored really bad but 4kids dubs are even worse and even more censored. do you see why 4kids really suck now?

2 they americanize WAY to many things,3 they dont even try to do good voice acting or put emotion into the characters voices, and theres many other reasons to why they suck. plus even though there called 4kids the stuff they censor and americanize doesnt amke the shows more suitible for kids. even the creators of some of the shows 4kids dub they took away the rights from 4kids becuase of there bad dubbing. continued.

i also dont like the old shows that aired on kidswb and foxkids and i know why both channels were canceled but i dont care. but still 4kids dubs do suck. like there one piece,yugioh,yugioh gx,yugioh 5ds,dubs,etc. but pokemon was there only good dub and that was only becuase nintendo was up there buts the whole time to make sure they dub it right. the reason there dubds sucks is becuase 1 they dont have good voice actors voice the characters,continued.

pokemon was the only show that 4kids did right. and it is true that there is a lot of fanboys and fangirls that over react and that 4kids are called 4kids but even most little kids hate there dubs. and if most little kids hate there dubs then that means that there dubs suck. and yes the japanease versions will most likely always be better than there dubbed form but some a lot of dubs are really good. but 4kids dubs suck. continue.

Ah, finally someone puts it straight, though I can't decide if you hate 4kids, if you love them, or if you just don't care.
I've been watching since the FoxBox days (I'm only 15), and I can barely tell the difference.
Kirby was on FoxBox, and on 4kids, it was the same exact show on both, so why does everyone says 4kids messed it up, but they praise FoxBox?
Anyway, I for one, am a 4kids TV supporter, they have filled my Saturday mornings with entertainment for the past 7 years.

Well to answer your question as to weather I like or hate 4kids. I don't really care for the animes they dub, but I don't hate them. Especially not at a point where I want to kill the people who work there, especially Alfred R. Kahn.
I think the reason why some people find the FoxBox good is because some of them were younger kids at the time, including me. I also used to watch the FoxBox when I was 12 years old and I was watching Kirby and the new TMNT.

Hmm...I actually don't mind the Anime Dubs. I can't speak Japanese, and sometimes it can be a pain to read the subtitles, especially during an action scene, so it's nice to have an English version, where I can sit back and just watch.
I was about 8 when FoxBox was on, and funny enough, it premiered on my birthday, September 14th.
