  • The music played during the scroll makes the entire thing look better.

  • The Center for Retarded was closed...

  • My parents were totally freaking out about Gilbert - but in their defense, that storm took up almost the entirety of the Gulf

  • When Hurricane Gilbert struck the Texas Gulf Coast, San Antonio was lucky enough to allow their schools to be in session notwithstanding.

  • School closed for all the same places just a couple months ago for hurricane Ike. Deer Park district was out for an entire week.

  • Actually, that's not the case. The area impacted by Ike locally was less than what would've been affected by Gilbert and several of the districts and institutions were open the entire time.

  • Still some districts were out for weeks.

  • Galveston ISD shut down, too (I was in the first grade back then). My family and I went to Texarkana. Good times.

  • i remember this!! School was closed and nothig happened. I was going to Wells Middle at the time. My friends and I played football all day

  • Hey, my school district, Deer Park ISD, was closed! Unfortunately, I was only 3 at the time! *lol*
