Kakashi doesn't die, in the manga, he is killed by Pein, but after Naruto turned his ways, he returned all the souls of those killed in the Konoha attack, but that jutsu only works on people who were recently killed, so Kakashi, Hinata and all those were brought back, but Jiraya had been dead for a while so hes completely dead, in which Naruto took his place as the mountain toad sage...
