  • That's the best camera shot I've ever seen of a nitro car!

  • cool veiw

  • ahh yes, nitromethane, awesome

  • What block are you running? Looks like SBC heads/valve covers. how many cubes? I loved this vid, someday I hope to have a dragster. For now I settle for my built 383 ElCamino

  • @rroberts383

    4 bolt Truck block. 370CI with a 3.625 crank.

  • Fucking beast! Pure metal \m/ can't wait for 1 with better sound, the vibration isn't really fixable I know. I'll check out this video later on pc & if ya got better footage throw up some links on twatter for ya. Thanks for posting

  • 0:15 Wow Did you see how tires get higher than larger?

  • Nasty Gurl.

  • What does she run in the 1/4th and have often do you race her?

  • cool as !!!!!!!

  • girls have vibrators guys have these!!!

  • Awesome video, I love ride alongs.

  • Thank you for an exhilerating video. How I wish I were in that cockpit. Well done, sir!

  • That was a really cool video. Now if you can get the "tech guy" to fix the sound and vibrations. People have really good [sound] systems now-days. They like to "feel" the horsepower. Give them something to blow their socks off and they'll be a fan for life.

  • @WillysWoodPile If they want to FEEL the HP, they need to build a car and go racing....

  • @oldtickers --- Good point.

  • @oldtickers dont get e wrong that is one hell of a motor, but it looks kinda small for the performance. if you know what i mean. what size motor is that.

  • @oldtickers way the fuck to expensive

  • @WillysWoodPile, agreed on the sound and vibration but most likely it looks like it was shot on a GoPro camera and they don't handle and sound and vibration very well but none the less it is some very cool footage.

  • Haa-aa-aa-ang on, Snoopy, hang on!!

  • I scrolled back in the comments and didn't see anyone ask- what did the crew member pull after the burnout, it looked like a quick pin. different fuel mixture during actual run?

  • @snoose1976 It is a pin to keep the butterflies from opening no more than a 1/4 of an inch. If that is not there we would blow up the motor on the burnout.

A cheap rev limiter that is fail safe!

    Ed

  • @oldtickers ok that totaly makes sense, never dawned on me a mechanical rev limiter, thought it may be done electronically, thanks.

  • @oldtickers exactly, if the motor were alowed to go full throttle on the burnout, it would eat itself up. Might get lucky and have it live but it only needs a little bit of throttle to get the tires to roast. Especially after tunning through water. You'll notice that they start it right there at the waterbox, they're dead cold, part of the function of the burnout is to put heat into the motor.

  • What times/mph have you done?

I have a 6 cyl FED which I've just finished my first season and I love it!!

  • @RIPSNZ

    7.8 sec in the 1/4 at 180MPH

  • @oldtickers Nice one, I managed 7.2 @ 181mph with 182 cubic inches and petrol, I suppose thats not too bad then. Cheers.

  • What is that about 10 percent Nitro?

  • @n5ifi Nope, Just Methanol! (and some spark plugs in the front two pipes!!!)

  • Awesome

  • helllz yeah!!!

  • Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost to build a beginner front end dragster if you already have the engine? Because I have a built 327 that was given to me and I have been looking for something to put it in.. and this seems pure bad ass!

  • what was ur speed

  • snoopy , shifts quickly.

  • Damn, what an animal...

  • how much horsepower at the wheels?

  • Over 800 HP on the motor, 720 at the wheels.

  • @oldtickers dont u mean 8000?

  • @chargerfish1 I think he does.

  • how do they cool these engines

  • The motors do not run long enough to get too warm and the fuel (methanol) cools the motor as it runs.

    Ed.

  • they dont, thats why they dont run them for long.

  • cool

  • TOO COOL!!!!

  • i thought i was gonna get sucked into the blower

  • Hold on Snoopy. Sweet motor

  • Yeah, thanks for the ride!!! Looks like you had fun too :)

  • id like all the honda fans to notice how much the butterflys open up when he does the burn out barley and throttle your poor old front wheel drive couldent even do that full throttle

  • to bad this has to go in for a rebuild now and in 6 more runs the engine is scrap metal these things barley last 15 miles

  • Yeah but any engine making this kind of horse power youd have to do the same thing!

  • What thess motors/Block,heads can run all yr as long as it has a good tune and they dont get carried away with boost.Yes a piston here and there rings and bearings every two to three runs if not more but for the whole thing? Dont think so. If it doesnt suck a valve or throw a rod its good for along time. The fuel is what wates the rings triing to feed it and keep the temp down.

  • lol

    ahh rwd blown v-8

  • a turbo supra would still be at the starting line

  • A supra is not in the same class idot

  • i never said the supra was in the same class dipshit

  • exactly dude, only in the usa

  • american made...dont see that in japan.

bet you can't buy the parts for that at autozone, chinese never could get it right..lol

  • thanks for the ride man! awsome!

  • awesome

  • i FREKEN LOVE these things! so awsme!

  • Now if ESPN could mount something just like that for TV ! Come on BSI guys, this POV shot would look killer on live TV!!!

  • so what time/speed did you clock?

  • Judging by the time on the video, it looked like a mid-high 5 second pass.

  • 4.9 seconds..... :)

  • you guys are idiots

  • What amazes me continuously, is that these mad dragsters only need about a 1/4 throttle to spin those huge slicks up.

Kinda puts it all into perspective really :D

  • Heh, the more powerfull cars use less than 1% throttle during burn out. :)

  • O_o! I never knew!

Only because we don't have that level of professional dragsters here ='(

  • its called a blower hat or a supercharger hat

  • Not to be confused with a jimmy hat.

  • injector

  • its called a bird catcher.

  • Friggen beautiful, I wish I could blow this up to full size and have it playing repeat in my living room!!!

  • Thanks, Me too!

    Ed

  • That's Ed and Tammy Fargo from North Carolina. Nice people. Southern Slingshots.

  • Thanks Tomas!!!!!

    E&T

  • Way Cool Man!

    Thanks for the invite!

  • THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

  • man that's a amazing looking motor you got there i love it to death and sounds good too. what did it run

  • It ran a 4.88 at 140 MPH on that 1/8 mile pass.

1/4 mile it would run 7's at almost 180. .

  • Hey oldtickers, what speed & ET did you do in the video?

  • A great vid...........thanks so much for sharing this with us........Gary

  • Great vid!!

  • Is that a SBC?? It must break a lot of parts1

  • Ran two years and no parts broke.....ever.

  • Do you have an aftermarket block and a Sonny Bryant crank??

That's a lot of abuse on a SBC unless it's very de-tuned, or built like a tank.

  • 10/20 4 bolt block built like a tank. If you build them right and know what the limits of the parts and not go past the limits, they can last.

  • Aaah, that answers my question, yes to both, built like a tank and de-tuned.

I've worked as a CNC machinist in the pro ranks, I'm used to seeing part life measured in nanoseconds.

    X-D

    :-)

  • i heard that the real topfuel dragsters run on nitro and their engines broke off after one race 400 m?? that must be on normal fuel, right??

  • cool.....but not as cool as a hemi powered slingshot....

  • I dont know nothing about dragters. They have automatic transmission or standard?, or probably they have just one single gear.

  • i think they've got two gears: Fast an Faster;)

  • they dont have gear, its accelerepting like a 50cc scooter, with clutch system

  • cool the engine wath hp generate?

  • Cool footage - liked snoopy along for the ride too...

  • small block chevy ?

  • Yes....

zero to 60 in less than one second....

  • I did not write that, I don't know who did.

  • that was a joke aimed at 428ford. The're freinds of mine and are always givin me shit about my love of the flatheads

  • whats that running for an engine? SB chevy?

  • Small Block Power! YEAAAAAAAH!!!!

  • flatheads are better,

    anyway, nice car

  • Flatheads are better?

    For what???

  • nice!.... what dragstrip is this ?

  • Thanks, it is at a All Concrete track in Orangeburg S.C.

    Stay cool!!

    Ed

  • What was that thing she took off the engine?

  • fast

  • Hay... That's Tammi and Ed...!

  • I been wanting to build one of these, this vid settles it!

  • omfg :X

  • yeah, that was badass!

  • nice vid btw =)

  • Must be a dam good vid cam to take that sort of punishment and still give a clear picture during the whole clip. Nicely done. Pedal to the METAL!!!

  • Probably a solid state one or one heck of an expensive tape cam.

  • Yer nice point, perhaps a HDD cam was used.

  • nice pass, please check us out, Smith Racing has just bult a front engine dragster and is eager to discuss setup and other issues.

    Later O

  • Tried to email you but no reply.

    Ed

  • cool were doing the same thing did away with the stack injector and just finished a blown alky small block in our FED whats youre best time so far? not sure but is that the car owned by ed and tammy fargo?

  • Hey Scott.

Yes, this is the "E&T" Car. Our best time has been a 7.7 in the 1/4.

    Take care!

  • wicked video
