Don't make me laugh. Gamma ray bursts. Ever heard of them? Gamma ray bursts are just one of the reasons we never left low earth orbit. All manned missions to the moon were faked for obvious reasons. If you attempt to make it to the moon, you will never come back alive.
LOL, they didn't even give it time to stop before concluding! This is of course because the government would pull the plug on Mythbusters if they ever found a government viewpoint to be invalid. And might I remind people that even though they obviously faked this episode, the Mythbusters have been devastatingly wrong a couple times anyway in other episodes where they were absolutely proven to have come to the wrong conclusion.
After watching this, I'm convinced the landing was faked.

@StarryKid06 What are you, high? Of course they didn't have to wait for it to stop, it was already moving similarly to the flag in the moon landing video. And need I remind you that this test is under Earth gravity; if this was actually happening on the moon, the flag would be going for even longer.
Funny how all you "open-minded" people always casually dismiss anything that doesn't conform to your beliefs.
@JustThatGuyOnline In 1/6th G the flag may not move much longer than it does in 1G. Remember that the energy that goes into the flag as it swings down after the pole was moved depends on the gravity. The motion will be slower so there will be a lot less friction within the flag material. You have two effects that work against each other both of which will be less on the moon.
The telling bit is if you look at the flag motion on the moon, you can see things that show there can't be air.
nasa let them in so they control the experiment. you guys really believe a bunch of kids and some special effect guys called the mythbusters PROOF they never were there??? ofcourse not. nasa let them believe the tests are genuine but they are not. not knowingly they are used by Nasa cause the series is soooo popular and if the busters say : it is so. it must be true.....
@cyberbehrens - Then explain how the tests are wrong. That episode was first broadcast over 3 years ago, and yet no moon hoax documentary maker has attempted the same experiments to prove MBs wrong (and those experiments can be done in multiple locations worldwide). In fact, moon hoax film makers never do such experiments, all they ever do is talk over old footage and photos making claims, with so-called experts giving their views, but no demonstrations. Why not SHOW how to fake 1/6th gravity?
@cyberbehrens - Who said there wasn't gravity? I said 1/6th gravity, that is, the moon's gravity is 1/6th the strength of the earth's gravity. No-one, not the moon hoax documentary makers or even the best sci-fi movies makers throughout the world, have been able to replicate the movement of astronauts as seen in the Apollo movies. Sure today they can achieve it with CGI, but the hoax films claim it was done using only wires and slow motion, and yet no-one has ever achieved that in 40 years :-)
@MTMind2 ok, u got a point. presumeably the moon has 1/6 gravity. i say , the moon has gravity. well, i guess we both you and i believe in other things. greetings, Peter
I was surprised when they took on the moon hoax cult. These kinds of "controversies" usually attract the lowest and least desirable creatures in our society to respond, foaming at the mouth, screaming "shill," or "liar," to defend their laughably preposterous delusions. Usually it's better to just ignore conspiracy occultism in America AND abroad; history denialists are among the most disgusting creatures imaginable, especially ones that deny the unparalleled accomplishments of thousands.
@IndividualParties , I appreciate your perspective, but it seems that the numbers of young people around the world who believe the Apollo program was one giant hoax in increasing. Don't we explain to these kids why we should trust that man has been to the moon?
@LunarTuner I agree with you. Mythbusters also busted the "multiple light source" theory that conspirators claim on some of the photographs. I, for one, thought that was suspicious as well, until it was busted on Mythbusters. The rocky terrain of the Moon's surface caused a shift in the shadows.
I Think They Should Have Done This With An Outside Agency, Anything NASA controlled Is Not Trusted In my Eyes. I Work For The Government And They Lie And Decieve So Much Sometimes, It Pisses Me off.
@mrmartin166 - But who's stopping all the moon hoax documentary film makers from carrying out those same experiments themselves? In fact, why hadn't they done so before? They claim the Apollo footage is fake, saying only a combination of wires and slow motion was used, so surely the best way to prove it was fake is to rig up an actor with wires and put him on a dust covered stage, and duplicate all we see in the Apollo footage, not just walking but running/skipping, jumping, falling over etc.
@1236sason, what a brilliant conclusion. Virtually every astronomer, astrophysicist, biophysicist, aerospace engineer and science PhD from every country in the world doesn't believe the moon landings were fake. I suppose they were stupid and we should listen to you? Now, THAT is stupid.
@1236sason Yes, and the world is flat, and the universe revolves around the earth. In fact, all those spaceships that's gone to other planets, guess what? They never did!
First off ,, I have no idea whether or not we did or didnt land on the moon , But dude wasnt twisting nearly as hard on the first test as the second , To be scientific , They should mechanise the twisting movement so that it is consistent from test to test .. this is not a scientific test nor a trustworthy demonstration .
@SUPerFreakUsa, I suggest you watch the response video to this. It shows clearly that on the basics of the physical laws associated with pendulums, this test proved exactly what it should have. No matter how hard he twists, once he lets go, the flag becomes a free-falling pendulum that can be compared. You can't speed up or slow down a pendulum--you can only reduce its number of "periods" (which is what the air resistance does).
@LunarTuner . Since im here .. I agree to a point .. Two things aside , a flag is not a proper pendulum first , It can store energy in waves which a pendulum cannot , various twists will produce waves in the material that store and release energy in various manners , It most certainly does matter how hard he twists . Two tests in the exact same atmosphere by hand will produce different results , consistently. Mechanise the test and these things are minimised .
@SUPerFreakUsa Dude, this is common sense for people who are logical or even have any science background. Take for example, a row boat with an oar. You move the oar around in water and you meet resistance. As you stop moving the oar, the oar will have a tendency to stop moving because the water molecules are pushing against the oar. Without the water, the oar would keep moving! This is no different with a flag in a vacuum. Human stupidity knows no bounds.
@VamYang Multiple tests of this fashion would have measurably different results even if performed at/in identical atmosphere . The same would apply to a pendulum dropped by hand ,It would result in varying numbers of periods each test ,Higher drop=More energy = more periods . If that same pendulum were dropped from the exact same height each time, the number of ... swings, ie "periods" would be the same . This cannot be achieved by hand , Period ! " IS THERE NOONE ELSE !"
Conspiracy theory idiots should first learn 5th grade science. A vacuum has no air resistance! Derp herp derr. [Insert flames here, conspiracy theory idiots!]
It shows that the when we watch the continuous footage of the Apollo flag, it comes to a stop the way the flag in atmosphere did in the Mythbusters experiment. Mythbusters proved the Apollo flag was in atmophere.
@Cosmored, I won't mark you comment as spam, because that video is a complete FAIL. Your argument in that video is tainted because Cernan has control of the flag. As long as his hand is on the pole, we can't be sure he didn't stop the flag's motion by a simple twist to compensate. It's not a useful demo, because that single fact taints your point. On the other hand, the Apollo 15 flag oscillates for an "un-earthly" long time without a soul in sight!
...the flag movement at that narrow angle can be duplicated on earth. I've done it. At that narrow angle atmospheric dampening is not enough to make it come to a complete stop. You're comparing apples and oranges.
It would take a gigantic twist to make the Apollo 17 flag come to a stop. A twist that big would have been obvious. Tell us why Mythbusters only shows a brief peek at the moving flag.
@Cosmored, Ask Mythbusters your questions aimed at Mythbusters.
"I've done it." And I'm supposed to just take your word for it? You used a regulation, Nylon Apollo flag on the same pole?
Even the slightest twist by Cernan's hand invalidates everything! It would clearly effect the comparison. My gosh! Who's comparing apples to oranges? You are! The Mythbuster's video is your apple and the Apollo 17 flag is your orange (or do you prefer the other way?)
"Even the slightest twist by Cernan's hand invalidates everything!"
The movement of the support rod is not consistent with its causing the tip of the flag to stop moving. Anyone can see this. This is one of those anomalies that's so clear that it can't be obfuscated. If you try to obfuscate it anyway, you'll just look silly. Apollo was a hoax. Mythbusters has proved it.
@Cosmored. Anyone can see that the support rod is moving counter-clockwise (to Cernan's left) when he finally lets go of it. It slowly rotates about 20 degrees as the bottom of the flag slowly catches up. This motion imparted by Cernan makes this a terrible comparison to the Mythbusters flag or the Apollo 15 flag. I don't "obfuscate" anything! Cernan does! Sorry, but an orange is not an apple.
When the tip of the flag stops swinging, the upper part is just hanging. It's not making the tip stop swinging. This is one of those anomalies that can't be obfuscated. It's too clear.
You have the attitude that you're on top of things but so did the Black Knight in this video.
/watch?v=9RZ-hYPAMFQ
(do a YouTube search on "Black Knight Holy Grail")
The only thing that matters is whether you're convincing anyone. I don't think many people think the Black Knight won.
@Cosmored, if you sincerely believe a moving pivot point does not has no effect on the oscillations of a pendulum, then we can't have a conversation. Cernan lets go and the rod continues rotating ~20 degrees counter-clockwise. To say that has no effect defies what we know about pendulums.
@LunarTuner The moving pivot and vertical motion has already been pointed out to cosmored. He will never change his mind on anything - ocd or some other illness.
My rebuttal video to the Apollo 17 flag:-
watch?v=sc6sqIe3Aio
I did another video on the Chinese spacewalk "bubble"(showing it as a piece of tape or similar) and even after watching it, he still insists it is a bubble! Completely brainless.
@Cosmored "It would take a gigantic twist to make the Apollo 17 flag come to a stop. A twist that big would have been obvious."
Haha, you gotta be kidding! It didn't need a gigantic twist to make it move like it did, so why would it need more of a twist in the opposite direction to slow it. You have absolutely no idea about even basic physics.
"the flag movement at that narrow angle can be duplicated on earth. I've done it."
You are lying. Film it and put it on youtube.""
This is the clip in question.
/watch?v=ymwE1sNm82Y
Anyone can hang a light piece of cloth from a ceiling light and trot by it at about a 40 degree angle and watch it move the same way as the Apollo flag did. This is one of those anomalies that's so clear that it can't be obfuscated. You won't sway any thinking people with rhetoric either.
@Cosmored, you and your "can't be obfuscated" crap--Betamax101 asked you for your demo & you can't give it! If you're doing science, you won't use any "light piece of cloth", but the same grade of Nylon and the same size as the Apollo flag.
The entire point is that the Apollo 15 flag kept on waving for a long, long time--longer than possible in atmosphere--with no one touching it. The Apollo 17 flag is touched by Cernan and the pole begins to twist, causing a moving pendulum. You can't compare!
lets see mythbusters talk about the flag waving during apollo 15 when the astronaut runs past it. It's perfectly still until the astrnoaut runs past it, but I promise you they won't touch that one.
@micah1116 Amen!...or let's see them explian why you need weights to hold a 200lb man to the moons surface when the dust his feet kicks up falls immediately back to the surface, I don't think they will touch that one either.
@twoguys4bi, No weights are needed to hold a man onto the moon's surface. The moon has gravity. Apollo EVA suits were heavy, but they weren't deliberately built to be heavy.
I think that most, if not all, elements of the '60s and '70s space missions were genuine, but in the case of doubters, the American establishment has no one to blame but themselves. Because of all the scandals, conspiracies and cover-ups (Roswell, the various assassinations, Watergate, 911, etc) that have been exposed over the past 4 decades, all aspects of American history are now up for scrutiny in the public imagination; their motto: "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear."
@jannyrcobs, just for the record, I highly support careful scrutiny of ANY government. My support for the scientific achievement of Apollo should not be taken as a blind endorsement for anything done by the US government. I take each matter on its own merit and I fairly and thoroughly scour whatever data the even yields by all sides. I sleep fine at night. I hear ya. ;)
@FyouWanker Who gives a shit about the origins of the word, if "moon" just means satellite, does that mean the Earth has over a dozen moons because we sent a bunch of satellites in orbit around the Earth ? Is the Earth a moon because it's a satellite - so to speak - of the sun ?
the video in this hardly shows the wind, the real video dis proves this as the wind blows the flag towards the astronauts face , and the flag moving was not because he put it in the ground mythbusters were given a clear brief of what they could discuss in the show i can't go into it but they know why we can't go to the moon
@MUFCinsalford, You can't go into it? Well, if you can't go into it, then why mention it? Does that give us any reason to believe you more than anyone else?
Go search youtube for a film called "Lunar Legacy" they show you every hour that the flag stood there. The only time it "waved" was when the astronauts were moving it and when they shoved it into the ground. Moon conspirators are just people who think they have done research when they clearly haven't. You obviously decided just to listen to people in blogs and watch so called "documentaries" instead of watching the actual moon footage. Real research=Real knowledge.
@MrToiletface, you're not too intelligent, are you. You seriously think you can come onto my page, insult me and expect me to leave your comment and not block you? That's about the dumbest thing you can do. It's also a reason why we shouldn't listen to your anti-American drivel or anything else you have to say. Bye. Good luck with that Toilet Face problem. You're blocked. I WIN!
You don't have to cheat dishonest people they take care of that themselves.these guys worst than a(censored) prostitutes.....they fly false flag operation covert operation conducted by NASA corporations they just designed to appear as though they are an independence source..the apollo mission truely an laughable production the proof of these matters exists and await and will be discover.. by those who seek out the truththe truth will ulimately be toldant the lies will finally exposed. neil
@alexshoru, moon gravity is 1/6th earth gravity. That means less downward force on the flag, which means it would oscillate even LONGER than the flag in the vacuum in this video. The lower gravity of the moon only helps the mythbuster explanation MORE.
@Quartrez Ferreal?? Even a conspiracy nut, such as myself, did not know that! D: One would think that the sky of mars is red, since the entire planet appears red as earth appears blue. hmmm, the government's tricksy!! they tricked us!! O_o
Hate to tell you all, but we never landed on the moon. Also the holocaust is a myth, Jesus was black and the earth is only about 4,000 years old. Oh and also, dinosaurs lived alongside people in the Old Testament.
@tachikoma747 The Earth is flat, too. And in the center of the Universe. And the sun really has a crush on the moon, but the moon keeps moving away from the sun because she's not attracted at all.
@Quartrez Did you get that from Tolkien's story of Arda and Middle-earth or something? XD
According to his mythology the Moon is a silver flower steered by a god who is constantly drawn to the great light of a golden fruit (the Sun) steered by a glowing goddess. =P
But really, our moon isn't even a "real" moon, it doesn't have a core like other moons like the major moons of Jupiter (Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto) and Saturn (Titan and others). These moons have formed around their respective planet, unlike our moon, which is the result of a major impact that happened on Earth during its early stages.
OMG, so many people in this thread need a basic education asap. even if you are too dumb to grasp the science. There have been 6 manned moon expeditions, are you really saying NASA faked them all. Think about all the people it would take to pull off a hoax of that magnitude. Hundreds of people would need to be in on it and all of them would need to keep the secret. that's just ridiculous.
He's clouded up the airways with his shouting long enough and we need to get rid of him to clear up room for an intelligent debate on this.
I can see he's blocked from this page but their are some he is not, please help out those discussing it their, or encourage them to bring their discussion here.
Apollo put some very nice cornercubes on the moon that are used nearly every day to measure the distance to the moon. Apollo was for real. All the conspiracy theory claims have been busted. Get over it. We really did go to the moon.
american astronauts planting the stars and stripes.... bullshit. why would mythbusters, an american show, have an episode where they prove the moon landing and 9/11 were both staged?. they would be kicked off the air and probobly jailed for saying they were fake. anti american propaganda. americans cling to the beleif that they landed on the moon bcuz they are brought up to think theyre the best and their government can do no wrong. well, they faked it, and thats all there is to it. adam is gay
@MrToiletface, how do you explain the many US-made programs that suggest Apollo and 911 were staged? No, in the US, we have a Constitution that protects people who have even STUPID things to say.
I don't believe Apollo was real because of ANYTHING the government says. I don't trust government--I trust SCIENCE! In this case, a vast mountain of information, data and evidence was left by Apollo. THAT is what I look at! THAT is what I test. Government CAN do wrong, but they can't do miracles.
@LunarTuner It's possible the live shots were done in studio. I do believe we went to the moon because of moontrax scene from earth. Anyway when it comes to 9-11 ( wtc 7 ) that's a smoking gun. Checkout Ae911truth real architects and engineers put their careers on the line. The evidence surrounding 9-11 being staged is overwhelming. wtc7 is the smoking gun. Nevermind the mainstream media on that 2008 bilderburg conference in chantilly VA was completely covered up in the MSM. 1 ezexample
@earlofmars, please don't hit me with "it's possible" crap. The entire problem with conspiracy theorists is that THEORIES are cheap! Going through life believing junk because "it's possible" is not reality. Demonstrate with repeatable, tangible, sensible evidence! I could care less about every other conspiracy idea you can imagine. I want science. When you show me what IS and not what's POSSIBLE about Apollo, we can talk.
@LunarTuner Well, that's your problem ,you want science and I'm giving you science about 9-11. The moon landing I'm open about but have not explored or fully researched like I have 9-11. I think it's dangerous thinking to have a binary opinion about things when you label those who question the authority as Conspiracy theorists and thus place a tinfoil hat around anybody providing a check and balance for authority which is easily corrupted.
@earlofmars, your upset because I call someone with a theory about a government theory a "conspiracy theorist"? Seriously? Look, knock yourself out concerning 911. I don't care. But why not take it to a 911 conspiracy youtube video? I could care less.
@LunarTuner Okay, whatever. We have a very corrupted government it shows in our national debt and etc. To call people who question the "authority" whether that be media , government or federally funded institutions Conspiracy theorists s offensive to some of us.
@earlofmars....uhh...but you do have a theory about a conspiracy, right? Or am I misunderstanding something? And you do realize that Apollo was conceived during a Democrat administration and finished during a Republican administration? And it was 4 DECADES AGO!
Sorry your offended, but I'm equally offended by your accusations against hard-working, courageous American men and women who put men on the moon.
@LunarTuner Hey, I'm saying we went to the moon. What I'm also saying is that what was broadcast on TV at the time was done in a movie lot (i'm open to this idea) reason being is, If there was a major fail that occurred during the mission it would have affected the budgets of NASA and sway public opinion. I've seen the pics of lunar rover tracks so we did go there to the best of my understanding. So getting offended on someone who agrees with you but is open to other possibilities is up to u
@earlofmars, I'm open-minded too. But no one has ever shown any tangible evidence of such a movie lot--not in NV, AZ, Hollywood, TX, Australia, VA or any other place where it allegedly was. No docs, photos, personal testimony--zip. Also, ham radio operators around the world listened to Apollo S-band transmissions from the moon! The USSR tracked Apollo. How'd we fool USSR, but not you? Apollo 11 left a retroreflector THAT DAY on the moon. I'm open-minded, but unimpressed with the hoax idea.
@LunarTuner Like I said , I believe we went there but i ALSO UNDERSTAND MASSIVE GOVERNMENT BUDGETS AND a major fail on the super hot surface of the moon say like some alien spaceship showed up and vaporized the astronauts with a beam weapon (any bad scenario).. This would screw the world view up and open the door to the unpredicatble if it got out to the public so to be extra safe it would make sense to shoot the moon sequences in a movie lot (controlled environment)just to be safe.
@earlofmars, I appreciate your assessment of giant govts, but keep remember: Nixon drafted a letter in case a-nauts died on the surface. This wasn't discovered for years. Why write that letter if it was faked? Faking it was fraught with even MORE terrible risks. People ALWAYS talk. NO secret can be kept! To lose a-nauts on the moon would have at least galvanized the nation behind the courageous tragedy. But a hoax would ABSOLUTELY fail! And the US would have lost the cold war on the spot.
99.9% moon hoaxers never taken high school physics!!!!! It's the dumbing down of society that amuses me. You want the truth?? Then go ask any astronaut that was in nasa's Gemini or apollo programs.
@kevinstuartfr0st, the lighter weight of the flag on the moon would only HELP the Mythbusters argument! With less gravity, the flag would wave even MORE on the moon!
FEB 4, 2011 - Using two high-resolution LROC images taken from two separate orbits, scientists have formed a stereo image pair for 3D measurements at the Apollo 14 landing site. Among the visible objects are the descent stage of the Apollo 14 lunar module Antares, the ALSEP, a rock nicknamed Turtle Rock, & multiple astronaut traverse footpaths clearly indicated by disturbed soils. Data processing methods can be used to identify the objects and measure their sizes and shapes. Game over hoaxtards!
Anyone who really does not believe humans have been in space and have also been on the moon are the scariest groups of people... Progress is at its best whn acheived by the whole not by its parts. I bet some people still teach there children that god invented the earth and the space around it...
When he saw the fake pictures the man who made the Apollo cameras Mr J. Lundberg said the historic phrase:"Maybe you should find Armstrong and ask him" LOL!
NASA's so called "moon landing" back in technological antiquity of the middle 20th century was the work of filmmakers and cartoonists.
This why the are known in history books already in Europe as the Moon Hoax. The Moon exploration( if ever going to happen)will take a bit more effort and technology than a few actors in space suits.
@potrodsas, I was taking high school physics class before you were born. What you call "technological antiquity" was also a time when man achieved the fastest airplane flight (a record which still stands to this day), when men went to the deepest part of the ocean (which has not been done since) and when supersonic commercial airliners were flying (they don't fly now). What happened to YOUR generation?
I suggest you throw out those ignorant history books and study some science books.
@potrodsas yeah, but that "technological antiquity" was surely capable to do so heavy post-editing and CGI what we've seenin the last decade in actual movies only. In the era of room-sized computers that were still laughably slow, even compared to smartphones. And the fact that the looks of Star Trek and (the original-original) Star Wars sucked was part of the conspiracy too. Grow up, dude.
@potrodsas You have done well to pick the few 'history books' out of the many that say the moon landings were faked, and by no coincidence, they r also the shit history books. What is it that compells people that know absoultey nothing about the subject to completely disbelieve and distrust the experts and form ridiculous conspiracy theories?
For the soviets exposing the moon landings as a hoax would have been one of the largest blows that could have been dealt during the cold war, and they had the equipment and knowledge to know if it was a hoax. Yet they never exposed it as a hoax.
This can really only mean one thing, the Soviets were convinced that their biggest enemies had landed on the moon.
I've always seen this as a sign that man has definitely landed on the moon. As well as other stuff of course.
@genericmember1 hoax believers have already established that simple logic and high school physics can in no way disprove that it's a hoax . . . they live a pretty sad existance
@LunarTuner newtons law of motion- of corse if a guy pushes the flag it will move. do you expect it to stand still? this experiment is way of topic. the dude on the moon wasn't jerking the flag as hard as that guy did. this proved nothing, and to say it did, is ignorance.
@ervin920, 1st, I don't think Mythbusters does "experiments" in the hard sense of the word. This is TV. This is the 8th grade science teacher DEMONSTRATING a concept at the front of the classroom. It's entertainment, but not worthless. 2nd, how HARD the flag is jerked is irrelivant. The point is that the flag WILL move in a vacuum & it will oscillate even longer than on earth for lack of air molecules to create resistance. In fact, the lower gravity will cause it to oscillate still longer!
And some how they also managed to miss out the biggest myths associated with the moon landing theory.. The absence of stars in the moon pictures. Somehow these things are omitted by these people who have jumped in to debunk facts. Is it convenience or were they underpaid? :)...
@overcurious1, I'm sure MB didn't deal with the topic of stars in photos because it's too amateurish. Stars simply don't appear in photos taken with shutter speeds under 8 seconds. The slowest Apollo shutter speed was about 1/125th of a second. Do you ever see stars in Space Shuttle or International Space Station photos on the daylight side of earth? No. Because it's not possible. Had Apollo photos during daylight shown stars, every photographer on earth would immediately know it was fake.
@LunarTuner : Am not challenging ur faith in this great acheivement. Jus to tell u that the addage applies both ways, to u as well as me. Again, please do not rely only on mythbusters as the ones for debunking such theories, there are much better teams than them...
@overcurious1, I have argued for the integrity of Apollo long before Mythbusters was even on TV. I certainly don't look to them as my final authority. On the other hand, they have done some useful, thought-provoking things.
Another: the amazing clarity of the pictures shot by the chest mounted cams of astronauts. I am sure the mythbusters are aware of the crosshairs in those pictures showing evidence of manipulation. Y havent our beloved mythbusters debunked these myths?.. MythBusters...Oops Busted!!!!!
@overcurious1, crosshairs (fiducials) don't tend to appear where there are bright white objects because of photo processing. They are very thin lines and very consistently that layer of the processing film bleeds. Mythbusters can't go down every rabbit trail. There's an addage: you can't say everything every time you say anything.
Nice video.. Myth Busters have really gone a long way to debunk the theories put forth by most Lunar Landing conspiracy theorists. But If I am right, theY also put forth certain other points of the moon Landing. Some are LIKE The absence of dust on the lunar modules landing gear (eventho a NASA scientist accepts that thrust generated by the module is enuf only to move dust and not generate a crater.)
@overcurious1, the LEM landed using only 2,600 lbs. of thrust. A Chinook helicopter or a Harrier Jet will land using about 10 times that thrust, yet they never make craters.
There is very little dust on the LM's landing gear because the engines are cut about 9 feet above the surface, which is documented in their transcripts and is standard procedure. In fact, not much dust was on the footpads of the Surveyor or Soviet Luna spacecraft either...because there shouldn't be.
Codswollup I'm afraid. The commentry and what u c ar discordant. at 2:20 for instance the narratr sez the motion lasts fr a 'surprising' amount'v time. 1 secnd is hardly that. At c2:30 wen compering flags, the bloke sez '..illustrates that theury buDifully'. well, I'm afraid it duzn't. both flags r muving/in motion befor the "mythbustin" slyly directr cuts away again. disonisty, lies, propaganda, orwellian spin. this is whot we get. From faking worz in iraq, anti-democratic Kooz in iran etc.
@AdamSeeb If you drop a pendulum in zero gravity (vacuum) it won't swing, as the "myth buster" flag did. This was scientifically NOT a zero-gravity environment. The ONLY reason something swags to-and-fro is to find its gravitational center. If there isn't one, it won't swag. Period. I like this show, but honestly, this is embarrassing from a scientific standpoint. Drag (opposite force) ONLY occurs in an atmospheric environment. You can't "wave" a flag in space. Impossible. Zero resistance.
@BBCater In other words, if a long-haired woman was to turn her head from side to side in zero atmosphere, her hair won't do like the shampoo commercials. It will stay completely flat - as the flag should have. "Equal and opposite" forces don't exist. The opposite of inertia. It's MATH, folks... not opinion. ZERO negative force equals ZERO resistance. NOTHING "waves" trying to find its own gravitational center in a ZERO resistance environment.
@BBCater, I'm trying to follow you. Yes, the moon is in space and there is no atmosphere on the moon, but there IS gravity. The flag IS trying to find its gravitational center. Hair (and everything else) has a gravitational force tugging on it on the moon. A loose flag hanging from a pole with a cross-bar has two forces on it: gravity and an astronaut on the other end. As the astronaut pulls, gravity is also pulling. The result is what appears to be a "wave."
@BBCater The only thing air does it introduces drag to the oscillations. without air there is no drag and an oscillation will last longer. yes, a woman long hair would move back and forth a few more times than in an atmosphere.
@nesokretep The moon is NOT a vacuum, as it has its own gravitational pull. In fact, that pull is 1/6th of the earth's pull. The earth's gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared. ANY downward pull would be 1/6th that speed on the moon. What the moon doesn't have is ATMOSPHERE (resisting force). The reason that a flag waves is because of atmospheric influence. No atmosphere, no wave. If you run with a kite, it lifts because of air. If you did it on the moon, it would fall to the ground and drag.
@iichingg, Uh...according to NASA, the ESA, JAXA, the Russian Space Agency, the Indian Space Research Organization, the China National Space Agency and every single astronomer, astrophysicist and scientist on earth!!
@iichingg, I don't know a thing about you because your channel is not accessible, but I would seriously urge you to have a conversation with an astronomer in your part of the world...or any professor of physical science...or even a grade school science teacher! The moon's gravitational field is not strong enough to hold lighter elements that make up an atmosphere, even if their were features like life or volcanic activity that would generate such an atmosphere (and there is neither).
In fact, it is so close that you can see from Earth that it does not have an atmosphere. If it did, there would be atmospheric distortion around its edges. And besides, others besides NASA have gone there.
Like I said, you don't have to trust NASA for hardly anything. Almost everything they say or do is independently verifyable.
at about 1:15 minutes into austin powers international man of mystery, they show a bit of the moon landing with the flag blowing.

Gamma ray bursts from distant stars are no threat to astronauts in in any orbit. Especially as they are so rare and so distant...
You really should stop making imaginary threats up.
You should also note that gamma radiation is unaffected by magnetic fields....

JustThatGuyOnline 2 months ago
@JustThatGuyOnline HAhahHAHhashahaHA OK!
StarryKid06 2 months ago
@JustThatGuyOnline In 1/6th G the flag may not move much longer than it does in 1G. Remember that the energy that goes into the flag as it swings down after the pole was moved depends on the gravity. The motion will be slower so there will be a lot less friction within the flag material. You have two effects that work against each other both of which will be less on the moon.
The telling bit is if you look at the flag motion on the moon, you can see things that show there can't be air.

cyberbehrens 4 months ago
@cyberbehrens - Then explain how the tests are wrong. That episode was first broadcast over 3 years ago, and yet no moon hoax documentary maker has attempted the same experiments to prove MBs wrong (and those experiments can be done in multiple locations worldwide). In fact, moon hoax film makers never do such experiments, all they ever do is talk over old footage and photos making claims, with so-called experts giving their views, but no demonstrations. Why not SHOW how to fake 1/6th gravity?
MTMind2 4 months ago
@MTMind2 well but ehm, there is gravity on the moon.
cyberbehrens 4 months ago
@cyberbehrens - Who said there wasn't gravity? I said 1/6th gravity, that is, the moon's gravity is 1/6th the strength of the earth's gravity. No-one, not the moon hoax documentary makers or even the best sci-fi movies makers throughout the world, have been able to replicate the movement of astronauts as seen in the Apollo movies. Sure today they can achieve it with CGI, but the hoax films claim it was done using only wires and slow motion, and yet no-one has ever achieved that in 40 years :-)

SUPerFreakUsa 5 months ago
@SUPerFreakUsa, I suggest you watch the response video to this. It shows clearly that on the basics of the physical laws associated with pendulums, this test proved exactly what it should have. No matter how hard he twists, once he lets go, the flag becomes a free-falling pendulum that can be compared. You can't speed up or slow down a pendulum--you can only reduce its number of "periods" (which is what the air resistance does).
LunarTuner 5 months ago 5
@LunarTuner . Since im here .. I agree to a point .. Two things aside , a flag is not a proper pendulum first , It can store energy in waves which a pendulum cannot , various twists will produce waves in the material that store and release energy in various manners , It most certainly does matter how hard he twists . Two tests in the exact same atmosphere by hand will produce different results , consistently. Mechanise the test and these things are minimised .
SUPerFreakUsa 4 months ago
@SUPerFreakUsa Dude, this is common sense for people who are logical or even have any science background. Take for example, a row boat with an oar. You move the oar around in water and you meet resistance. As you stop moving the oar, the oar will have a tendency to stop moving because the water molecules are pushing against the oar. Without the water, the oar would keep moving! This is no different with a flag in a vacuum. Human stupidity knows no bounds.
VamYang 4 months ago
@VamYang Multiple tests of this fashion would have measurably different results even if performed at/in identical atmosphere . The same would apply to a pendulum dropped by hand ,It would result in varying numbers of periods each test ,Higher drop=More energy = more periods . If that same pendulum were dropped from the exact same height each time, the number of ... swings, ie "periods" would be the same . This cannot be achieved by hand , Period ! " IS THERE NOONE ELSE !"

It shows that the when we watch the continuous footage of the Apollo flag, it comes to a stop the way the flag in atmosphere did in the Mythbusters experiment. Mythbusters proved the Apollo flag was in atmophere.
I'll bet this gets marked as spam.
Cosmored 6 months ago
@Cosmored, I won't mark you comment as spam, because that video is a complete FAIL. Your argument in that video is tainted because Cernan has control of the flag. As long as his hand is on the pole, we can't be sure he didn't stop the flag's motion by a simple twist to compensate. It's not a useful demo, because that single fact taints your point. On the other hand, the Apollo 15 flag oscillates for an "un-earthly" long time without a soul in sight!
LunarTuner 6 months ago
@LunarTuner
If you're referring to this video...
/watch?v=ymwE1sNm82Y
...the flag movement at that narrow angle can be duplicated on earth.
Cosmored 6 months ago
@Cosmored, Ask Mythbusters your questions aimed at Mythbusters.
"I've done it." And I'm supposed to just take your word for it? You used a regulation, Nylon Apollo flag on the same pole?
Even the slightest twist by Cernan's hand invalidates everything! It would clearly effect the comparison. My gosh! Who's comparing apples to oranges? You are! The Mythbuster's video is your apple and the Apollo 17 flag is your orange (or do you prefer the other way?)
LunarTuner 6 months ago
@LunarTuner
Cosmored 6 months ago
LunarTuner 6 months ago
@LunarTuner
When the tip of the flag stops swinging, the upper part is just hanging. It's not making the tip stop swinging. This is one of those anomalies that can't be obfuscated. It's too clear.
You have the attitude that you're on top of things but so did the Black Knight in this video.

Cosmored 6 months ago
@Cosmored, if you sincerely believe a moving pivot point does not has no effect on the oscillations of a pendulum, then we can't have a conversation. Cernan lets go and the rod continues rotating ~20 degrees counter-clockwise. To say that has no effect defies what we know about pendulums.
Don't think I'm convincing anyone? Talk with @NASAvsPete and @yesiamawizardjonny.

The entire point is that the Apollo 15 flag kept on waving for a long, long time--longer than possible in atmosphere--with no one touching it. The Apollo 17 flag is touched by Cernan and the pole begins to twist, causing a moving pendulum. You can't compare!

Sorry your offended, but I'm equally offended by your accusations against hard-working, courageous American men and women who put men on the moon.
LunarTuner 9 months ago
@LunarTuner Hey, I'm saying we went to the moon. What I'm also saying is that what was broadcast on TV at the time was done in a movie lot (i'm open to this idea) reason being is, If there was a major fail that occurred during the mission it would have affected the budgets of NASA and sway public opinion. I've seen the pics of lunar rover tracks so we did go there to the best of my understanding. So getting offended on someone who agrees with you but is open to other possibilities is up to u
earlofmars 9 months ago
@earlofmars, I'm open-minded too. But no one has ever shown any tangible evidence of such a movie lot--not in NV, AZ, Hollywood, TX, Australia, VA or any other place where it allegedly was. No docs, photos, personal testimony--zip. Also, ham radio operators around the world listened to Apollo S-band transmissions from the moon! The USSR tracked Apollo. How'd we fool USSR, but not you? Apollo 11 left a retroreflector THAT DAY on the moon. I'm open-minded, but unimpressed with the hoax idea.
LunarTuner 9 months ago
@LunarTuner Like I said , I believe we went there but i ALSO UNDERSTAND MASSIVE GOVERNMENT BUDGETS AND a major fail on the super hot surface of the moon say like some alien spaceship showed up and vaporized the astronauts with a beam weapon (any bad scenario).. This would screw the world view up and open the door to the unpredicatble if it got out to the public so to be extra safe it would make sense to shoot the moon sequences in a movie lot (controlled environment)just to be safe.
earlofmars 9 months ago

NASA's so called "moon landing" back in technological antiquity of the middle 20th century was the work of filmmakers and cartoonists.
This why the are known in history books already in Europe as the Moon Hoax. The Moon exploration( if ever going to happen)will take a bit more effort and technology than a few actors in space suits.
potrodsas 1 year ago
@potrodsas, I was taking high school physics class before you were born. What you call "technological antiquity" was also a time when man achieved the fastest airplane flight (a record which still stands to this day), when men went to the deepest part of the ocean (which has not been done since) and when supersonic commercial airliners were flying (they don't fly now). What happened to YOUR generation?
I suggest you throw out those ignorant history books and study some science books.

@LunarTuner Right on!
tekkiangel 10 months ago
@potrodsas yeah, but that "technological antiquity" was surely capable to do so heavy post-editing and CGI what we've seenin the last decade in actual movies only. In the era of room-sized computers that were still laughably slow, even compared to smartphones. And the fact that the looks of Star Trek and (the original-original) Star Wars sucked was part of the conspiracy too. Grow up, dude.
lacalaca85 11 months ago
@potrodsas You have done well to pick the few 'history books' out of the many that say the moon landings were faked, and by no coincidence, they r also the shit history books. What is it that compells people that know absoultey nothing about the subject to completely disbelieve and distrust the experts and form ridiculous conspiracy theories?
hippertydog 11 months ago
@hippertydog
I only consider the opinion of the experts.
This is how I know the moonlanding was a hoax.
potrodsas 11 months ago
For the soviets exposing the moon landings as a hoax would have been one of the largest blows that could have been dealt during the cold war, and they had the equipment and knowledge to know if it was a hoax. Yet they never exposed it as a hoax.
This can really only mean one thing, the Soviets were convinced that their biggest enemies had landed on the moon.
I've always seen this as a sign that man has definitely landed on the moon. As well as other stuff of course.

ervin920 1 year ago
@ervin920, What's your problem with it?
LunarTuner 1 year ago
@LunarTuner newtons law of motion- of corse if a guy pushes the flag it will move. do you expect it to stand still? this experiment is way of topic. the dude on the moon wasn't jerking the flag as hard as that guy did. this proved nothing, and to say it did, is ignorance.
ervin920 1 year ago
@ervin920, 1st, I don't think Mythbusters does "experiments" in the hard sense of the word. This is TV. This is the 8th grade science teacher DEMONSTRATING a concept at the front of the classroom. It's entertainment, but not worthless. 2nd, how HARD the flag is jerked is irrelivant. The point is that the flag WILL move in a vacuum & it will oscillate even longer than on earth for lack of air molecules to create resistance. In fact, the lower gravity will cause it to oscillate still longer!
LunarTuner 1 year ago
And some how they also managed to miss out the biggest myths associated with the moon landing theory.. The absence of stars in the moon pictures. Somehow these things are omitted by these people who have jumped in to debunk facts. Is it convenience or were they underpaid? :)...
overcurious1 1 year ago
@overcurious1, I'm sure MB didn't deal with the topic of stars in photos because it's too amateurish. Stars simply don't appear in photos taken with shutter speeds under 8 seconds. The slowest Apollo shutter speed was about 1/125th of a second. Do you ever see stars in Space Shuttle or International Space Station photos on the daylight side of earth? No. Because it's not possible. Had Apollo photos during daylight shown stars, every photographer on earth would immediately know it was fake.
LunarTuner 1 year ago
@LunarTuner : Am not challenging ur faith in this great acheivement. Jus to tell u that the addage applies both ways, to u as well as me. Again, please do not rely only on mythbusters as the ones for debunking such theories, there are much better teams than them...
overcurious1 1 year ago
@overcurious1, I have argued for the integrity of Apollo long before Mythbusters was even on TV. I certainly don't look to them as my final authority. On the other hand, they have done some useful, thought-provoking things.
LunarTuner 1 year ago
Another: the amazing clarity of the pictures shot by the chest mounted cams of astronauts. I am sure the mythbusters are aware of the crosshairs in those pictures showing evidence of manipulation. Y havent our beloved mythbusters debunked these myths?.. MythBusters...Oops Busted!!!!!
overcurious1 1 year ago
@overcurious1, crosshairs (fiducials) don't tend to appear where there are bright white objects because of photo processing. They are very thin lines and very consistently that layer of the processing film bleeds. Mythbusters can't go down every rabbit trail. There's an addage: you can't say everything every time you say anything.
LunarTuner 1 year ago
Nice video.. Myth Busters have really gone a long way to debunk the theories put forth by most Lunar Landing conspiracy theorists. But If I am right, theY also put forth certain other points of the moon Landing. Some are LIKE The absence of dust on the lunar modules landing gear (eventho a NASA scientist accepts that thrust generated by the module is enuf only to move dust and not generate a crater.)
overcurious1 1 year ago

AdamSeeb 1 year ago
@AdamSeeb, did you check out this video: watch?v=_IuQYbvf-lc&feature=watch_response
It clarifies the time of oscillation of these two flags with and without air.
LunarTuner 1 year ago
@AdamSeeb If you drop a pendulum in zero gravity (vacuum) it won't swing, as the "myth buster" flag did. This was scientifically NOT a zero-gravity environment. The ONLY reason something swags to-and-fro is to find its gravitational center. If there isn't one, it won't swag. Period. I like this show, but honestly, this is embarrassing from a scientific standpoint. Drag (opposite force) ONLY occurs in an atmospheric environment. You can't "wave" a flag in space. Impossible. Zero resistance.
BBCater 1 year ago
@BBCater In other words, if a long-haired woman was to turn her head from side to side in zero atmosphere, her hair won't do like the shampoo commercials. It will stay completely flat - as the flag should have. "Equal and opposite" forces don't exist. The opposite of inertia. It's MATH, folks... not opinion. ZERO negative force equals ZERO resistance. NOTHING "waves" trying to find its own gravitational center in a ZERO resistance environment.
BBCater 1 year ago
@BBCater, I'm trying to follow you. Yes, the moon is in space and there is no atmosphere on the moon, but there IS gravity. The flag IS trying to find its gravitational center. Hair (and everything else) has a gravitational force tugging on it on the moon. A loose flag hanging from a pole with a cross-bar has two forces on it: gravity and an astronaut on the other end. As the astronaut pulls, gravity is also pulling. The result is what appears to be a "wave."
LunarTuner 1 year ago
@BBCater -- Nothing "waves" to find its own gravitational center?
Do you mean to say that you don't even understand what a pendulum is?
Is that what you are attempting to explain to the world?
nesokretep 1 year ago
@BBCater The only thing air does it introduces drag to the oscillations. without air there is no drag and an oscillation will last longer. yes, a woman long hair would move back and forth a few more times than in an atmosphere.
desiguy55 1 year ago
@BBCater -- Oh. I see. You don't even understand the difference between "zero gravity" and "vacuum."
Never mind, then.
Explanations probably won't work for you.
nesokretep 1 year ago
@nesokretep The moon is NOT a vacuum, as it has its own gravitational pull. In fact, that pull is 1/6th of the earth's pull. The earth's gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared. ANY downward pull would be 1/6th that speed on the moon. What the moon doesn't have is ATMOSPHERE (resisting force). The reason that a flag waves is because of atmospheric influence. No atmosphere, no wave. If you run with a kite, it lifts because of air. If you did it on the moon, it would fall to the ground and drag.
BBCater 1 year ago
@BBCater -- Do you even know what a "vacuum" is? No. You have demonstrated that you do not.
"The moon IS a vacuum" = "The moon has no atmosphere."
The term "vacuum" has nothing to do with gravity.
.
Beyond that, you are correct about the kite. But it has very little to do with the discussion.
A flag that is hanging on the moon will swing like a pendulum if it is given an impulse.
Nobody has ever said that it would "wave" like it was blowing in the wind. And no vidoes show this.
nesokretep 1 year ago
@nesokretep according to nasa the moon is a vacuum and has no atmosphere but their lyers who can believe them?

iichingg 1 year ago
@iichingg, I don't know a thing about you because your channel is not accessible, but I would seriously urge you to have a conversation with an astronomer in your part of the world...or any professor of physical science...or even a grade school science teacher! The moon's gravitational field is not strong enough to hold lighter elements that make up an atmosphere, even if their were features like life or volcanic activity that would generate such an atmosphere (and there is neither).
LunarTuner 1 year ago
@iichingg -- OK. I've thought about it.
No.
The moon does not have to have an atmosphere.
.
