Just cheking. I nearly lost 2 fingers last year when using an ungaurded circular saw. Fortunately I still have them because the surgeon did an absolutely brilliant job reconstructing the bone had been broken into about 15 pieces! People seem to loose sight of the fact that steel is much harder than flesh and bone, and there are a lot of ungaurded sawmills shown on youtube. If I can pass on some good advice - thats all I am trying to do. They are your only set of fingers - so look after them!
Yeah, as you say at the end:- 'Take your own life in your hands' - and put a gaurd on the belt and the blade! Unless you want that blade coming at you sometime like an angry sword-wheeling ninja warrior! Trust me - a blade came of my bandsaw mill and it would have taken my face off if the guard hadn't stopped it. How much do you value your limbs and face? Less than £30 of aluminium? It upto you, mate!
@multirichard007 What makes you think it that the sawmill would never have a guard, the video is two years old. I guess I could make a more updated video for you, but don't loose any sleep she has a guard friend.
I have the head assembly all built.( bought it from a junker. someone did a nice job building it, but never finished it) I am looking for details on building the bed. I have two 17' 6" 4x3 angle to start with. I am using 3" I-Beam trolly wheels. At this point I am not going to build it portable.
@112669gene When I did it, I first laid down the tracks and free rolled the whole machine up and down it, the I measured the space in between them so I could cut the cross beams to hold the tracks together as a unit. When I was satisfied they were the right size, I then tack welded them and ran it down the tracks again once more to check to see if it would bind or come off course. So with after the last run I just welded it all. After that you just need to make your dogs.

@mrsawdust09 If you dont use a sharp blade your blade can dive in, but I have figured out when they need sharpened up.
