I didn't know an entire song was recorded of the Gidget theme.

The Four Freshmen never commercially recorded their version of the "GIDGET" TV theme because it wasn't used in the series (they did, however, record the 1959 movie title song), so I don't have a copy of it, 'geof'. Their rendition IS included in the unaired pilot on the "'GIDGET": The Complete Series" DVD.

In the unaired version of the "GIDGET" pilot, the theme was sung by The Four Freshmen. When the series was sold to ABC, Screen Gems decided they wanted a different "take" on the theme, and got Johnny to record it. The "still frame" opening title is just as memorable...

I love this song. It was the title song for the first tv show 'Gidget' starring Sally Fields. What they did though was they only played the last verse only (which I remember word for word), but its nice to hear the whole song. As far as I am concerned Sally Fields and Sandra Dee were the only true Gidgets. Sandra being the first. I watched every episode of the show. It was great!!!

You can also buy 45s on line. eBay, record dealers... You can get brand new 45s at record shops and on line. Just type in 45 rpm records and see what comes up. You can also get brand new record players.
