  • With no thanks (and ALL of the BLAME) this once vital airport is now merely a shadow of what it once was. We lost one of THE BEST airlines EVER TWA. I hate AA!

  • Good lord. What has happened to STL? What a shame. Its all AA's fault.

  • @AWS10T Yes it is! Finally someone who agress that its AA's fault

  • Shitty airport, but good video.

  • watch the video of Lambert in 1981....bustling with TWA 727s, L1011, 707s, DC-9s all over the place (and from the same spot this video was taken). Now it's a desert with nothing. An unfortunate chapter in aviation history.

  • Used to be able to get a direct flight to just about anywhere in the US on TWA then AA killed most of them. They had the place mostly to themselves and opted to keep hubs at busy airports instead.

  • I agree,

Lambert is nothing without TWA...Thanks to the AAVulture...

  • STL is garbage now. Nowhere to sit and watch planes anymore. TWA had widebodies and alot of different aircraft. Biggest thing out of here is a UPS MD-11 at night. Pitiful They need to drop the International because its not happening and AA sure wont do it here when they have ORD and DFW. Plus a wasted runway for little jets thats just awful for the folks who used to live in Bridgeton.

  • I,love the American Airlines MD-80 I her those lovely engines

  • what ang wing is at kstl?

  • If you have google earth 5.0, go to an ariel shot of lambert and zoom on the concourses. Use the time feature to look at it back in time. Youll see a drastic difference in the amount of aircraft from then to know. Before AA took over

  • man, watching that video makes me sad. remembering the way Lambert used to be. TWA going away was the worst thing that could of happened. now they have that new runway that never gets used and is pointless.

  • My Dad's last flight was from LAS to STL on the 757. That airport is dead and has been ever since AA merged with TWA. Quite unfortunate.

  • mrblujet: my dad's last TWA flight was OKC-STL, on the MD-80. He flew the 757 too, but got downgraded to the 80 after AA.

  • My Dad retired back in 2005 on the 757. The flight I was referencing below was his retirement flight. However, he was domiciled at STL throughout the 1980s' while flying the 727, MD80, DC9 and 767 for TWA.

In the late 1990s' TWA opened a domicile at LAX, which my Dad flew out of until the AA merger when the STL pilot fence was setup.

I enjoyed my trips through STL back in the day.

  • ah my dad is at JetBlue as an F/O on the A320 because of the furlough. He flew the 1011 and 747 as F/E, and the 727, 757/767, and AA MD-80 as F/O. He was always JFK based, except at AA, when he was at STL for the last year or so until 7/2003

  • cool!!!

  • i know exactly where your sitting. in the little walkway separating the b gates from the c gates. the only two gates for the 757 american flies in there are just off to your right. good video.

  • i love this video

  • I go to KSTL ( Lambert St.Louis International Airport)at least once every two months with my grandma. We get on Metro Link from Shrewsbury to the airport. KSTL RULZ ALL

  • 131st fighter wing F-15
