Christianity resides in, arguably, some of the cushiest countries in the world, save Saudi Arabia. I think people like Falwell, Roberts, Dobson, and like-minded types realized this back in the 70s--that we were becoming more diverse and secular, and they tried to gain political power with the aim of making this country a theocracy. So far, they have not succeeded, although they've made progress. I agree that poverty and economic decline are dangerous for freedom of inquiry and conscience and that religious demagogues will take advantage.

I reported the user bnprennaisance to the admins for spamming invites. (I checked their page, several others had accepted invites on the same date I got mine, leading me to assume they were using a spambot. However, they're still up and running.
