controlling computer with brain is stupid, it happens sometimes to me to want to play a computer game, watch tv and eat at the same time, with a computer like this I can either play computer game or do the other 2 things, so id like to stick with the touchpad
@machinevolution And then one day everyone use the app and have computer do everything for us, literally. Then later on, Steve Job demand money or he will deny the consumer the app that control their breathing. Kind of fucked up, don't you think? They denied Mozilla Firefox too. So yeah, Apple is worse than Microsoft. :)
could this one day have applications as a musical instrument? to convert musical thoughts directly into tone and melody, bypassing all the technical considerations of not being able to play the cello, could i still play a cello just by wearing one of these hats plugged into a speaker?
There are similar headgears that record what you think for a certain event , and you can trigger the event by thinking of the same thing. For example , the computer would play a musical note for just so long , so your brain can remember it. You would try to bring up the thought of the musical note , and the musical note would play.To change the note , would take more variation , and the computer would have to study the difference , but it would learn after a while.
You can do this alot easier with biofeedback monitor sensor which measures galvanic skin response. Your thoughts still control it. However, it takes a lot of practice. You only wear a sensor velcro'd around your finger. EEG is really hard to detect and decode and you must wear a sensor hat.
Hey guys there is a finished product of this and its wireless! Its called the Emotiv it is used for games but can allso be used for a universal controller for anything wireless like WiFi ur TV computer if u have a wireless keyboard and mouse all kinds of stuff!
The headset being developed by Emotiv probably uses a combination of EEG, EMG, and EOG to achieve external control, and does not strictly rely on the electrical impulses that are used to control facial muscles.
ummm i'd rather type with my HANDS then i can tell my grandkids "oh well back in me old days, we used our hands to do the work! pshh our brains? yeahh right"
Cool yes, but to me, this isn't super new. I've seen other brain computer interface projects that use the "a-hah!" thing in your brain when it gets to the right thing/group of letters/single letter to type really slow on some science channel thing. Now a good 1 letter out of 24 thing would be more impressive.
after a small amount of time, it becomes like moving your arm. you just 'know how' you dont consciously think 'arm up' or say it in your head, or do something, it just happens when u want it to. the brain learns to controll the computer the same way
this is steven hawkens he , i fucking invented that shit , all of you can f**k of D**k heads nazi B****ards , suck the back of my ball bag free the weed

Emotiv uses muscles in the face, like smiles and blinks and not the EEG, like this one does

That reminds me of the two kids in Back To The Future part 2, mocking Marti playing arcade.
I have an input method in my Pocket PC (besides keyboard and handwriting recognition) that's pretty much like this.
