  • I don't buy stuff 'just to have' because I find that if I don't normally eat it, even in an emergency, it will just sit on the shelf. I am a prepper, but I only stock up on things that my family normally eats on a daily basis. No Ramen Noodles, no DAK ham, no spam...

  • Ive been storing food for years and sometimes NEED to dip into between paydays (thats an emergency in itself sometimes, lol).

  • Costco has batteries for 9.49

  • Thanks KellydJelly~ Good advice to add!

  • be sure to rotate your stock and pull older items to the front

  • @prankcaller~~ You can buy them at Sams Club or Costco....still reasonable prices right now....Thanks for commenting!

  • Where the heck do you get 25 pound bags of sugar, rice and so on, WOW!

  • loll cool name for your you tube blog.

I have a stock pile and it is nice to have when you are not able to afford a weekly food bill and coupons work good.

awesome you tube blog woot! on that!

  • A good start on your pantry.

Be sure it is stored in a cool dry place.

Be aware of the pests/rodents in your region.

If humidity is problem, then pick up some 02 obsorbers and a seal a meal or food saver vacum processor. Craids list is a great place to pick them up cheap.

Have spices on hand and other otc meds you may need, such as apple cider vinegar for your beans to reduce flatulance.

  • I go to hotcouponmamaz.blogspot.com and loveee it! It shows me all the good deals and free stuff it does the work for me! Makes my coupon life much easier. :) And yes you can save a lottttt of money doing coupons.

  • Thank you for caring! Store rice, beans, and pasta with a bay leave in plastic containers.

  • I learned today while canning chicken soup, just how much chicken bouillion I will need, If you have a LDS CANNERY near you, they have things pretty cheap, I bought 25lbs of quick oats for like 8.00. I love Big Lots, they had spam with cheese for like 1.80. bought corned beef today at 1.00 a can exp at 2015. I also love my Solar lights , they sure come in handy when power is out. Great Video, Also look for Hand crank flashlights and radios!

  • @Pippie2010va Spam? I can't eat that stuff, it's nasty! lol..

  • the solar lights are Awsome !! I bought extra this year plus stronger batteries for them.

  • The solar lights are such a great idea!! Thank you for sharing!!! Thank you also for sharing what you have added to your pantry.. I have started to stock up and sometimes am at a loss as to what to stock up... Just wanted to let you know.. I bought some solar lights for decoration from walmart.. and they were 3.00 a piece!! Not bad for peace of mind!!! Thanks again!

  • the solar lights are awesome in a power outage...pop the heads off and sit them on the counters. i stockpile because of the economy. never know if i will lose a job, become ill, or a family member falls upon hard times. i am prudent and i invest in tangible useable items, coupons, sales rebates, and of course the thrift stores.personal items to last a year or more O2 absorbers for long term storage of foods. always use food grade containers. i use the 5 gallon method for pasta rice, flour, sugar

  • I will get solar lights. I think if the economy collapses imported things will be too expensive to have like coffee, tea, sugar. They would be good trade items too.

  • chicken in a can ??? wat the heck is this world coming to

  • 5*****

  • Thrift Store Whore,

Don't listen to people like Crewlla.

You are doing what is prudent and right for your family.

Keep up the good work and ignore the nay-sayers.

  • @Philobeddoe12 I think what Crewlla is saying is stock what you already use so that come time you are used to it and it won't end up disrupting your flow much. Not that preparing is a waste of time. If you get a bunch of stuff you never use you might not like it. This goes double for kids and very old people who will literally starve to death rather than eat something they dislike or are unfamiliar with.

Stock what you eat and eat what you stock!

  • We're stocked up enough to go maybe a month...Some other things we added were medication & vitamins & Tang. I agree with the other commenter that it's good to make sure you rotate your supply & buy things you normally eat, otherwise you could end up having to eat lots of things you don't like before it goes out of date- ick! : )

  • believe it or not folks being emergency prepared and being green go hand in hand. in the end you end up being very conservative!

  • these items are ok if you do use the things you buy if your just saving for emergency you are wasting your money.

  • @crewlla I agree. They'd be good to have in an emergency. I was thinking if there was an all out emergency, w/ little power/fuel, bags of beans and rice would require a lot of fuel to cook right.. I suppose they're stored easily, cheap, nutritious, but...need to cook a while. I have no idea what a fish steak is..a sardine maybe?

  • Thank you for the excellent video! My family is in preparedness mode, too, and it's a great idea for everyone. Acquiring the things you need doesn't have to cost a fortune if you do it gradually and just add a few extra things each time you shop.

  • Honey never expires. Nice emergency pantry. I saw some of those solar lights for only 4 bucks at wally world, I need to pick up a few.
