The Napier Saber engine was an H 24 cylinder, 44 liter displacement sleeve valve engine. The sound of this will never be made again. Wow, thanks gullywog.
Brad, don't you realise that the US won WW2, not only that, the US won it alone without any help! Where have you been man! Haven't been watching Hollywood re-write the history of WW2? Apparently, we British were completely inept & made a hash of everything until 'good old' Uncle Sam pitched up & sorted everything out. The Russians just sat around drinking vodka on the Ost front as well. It's not as if they smashed the Wehrmacht is it now? US all the way! :(
Ah Yes, of course. I had forgotten that. However, I often go on Combat Flight Simulator and shhot down Mustangs in a Spitfire (late) Mk V, a much superior fighter I can tell you.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH lol, I thought you were serious for a moment and was about to rip you a new one! And I'm American too. But you certainly seem to have gotten the tone of some of my fellow countrymen down pretty well. Sorry to say.
I have this same sound track on my hard drive. I probably found the three parts of it on the same web site that your did. Nice to see it put to pictures, although I can't help but feel if some Tempest pilot had pulled a low-altitude roll like that in front of Desmond Scott, he might have ended up wishing that he'd been shot down, instead.
LOL... I got to say you're right! My imagination helped by the sound of that magnificent engine led me towards that manoeuvre. Glad you enjoyed the clip mate! More of this at jointforcescommand dot com.
Awesome. I've been looking for something like that. There is a sound mod for IL-2 which updates the default soundset for a much better and improved one.
I actually found some sound tracks on a website. I just saved them some time ago and when one of my squad member made an awesome vid with IL-2 and real sounds of a Bf109-G10, it made me think I could do a similar one with the Tempest sound tracks I had...

Hi! Thanks for your kind word. I took the skin in flying-legends dot net. You'll have to browse through the Tempest's skin since I don't remember exactly where it was. Membership is free. Cheers! ~S!
Love the sound of the Merlin but the Sabre just sounds more menacing somehow.

Now please... how did you get this sound? Did you edit the game video and added the engine sound? Or was it through an sound mod? Very nice soundset.

grimreaper4676 Kermit weeks of the flights of fantasy museum is restoring to airworthy condition a Tempest V sadly for me in the US
gixergs 4 years ago
Restoring to airworthy yes, but sadly only the airframe - from what I understood, there's no chance he'll be getting the engine running again.
Clostermann - I remember reading The Big Show when I was a little kid, and still think of it now.
