my akita is mixed with akita inu and american akita. one time she bite the finger our maid because she was very noisy and the jaw was locked on the finger we cant make a move becauz she will bite harder so we made a solution we put a pepper to make her sneeze and it works

They were playing real nice.<3 I admit though I prefer the more refined Japanese Akita to the 'American Akita'. However it could be argued that the American Akita is still a legit Japanese breed as they resembled the 'fighting Akita' while the Japanese Akitas of today resemble the 'hunting Akitas'.

@OfficialArmani Lilely will be one of the strongest dogs you will ever own. Especially the males. Males get quite a lot larger than the females in most cases. For being a Large breed, they have the agility of small dogs. They're fast and well cordinated unlike many of the other large breeds.

Both are awesome dogs. I have a 3 year old American Akita and he is a fearless powerhouse!! They are huge dogs with a lot of power and are very, VERY quick and powerful! (also very playful and SO good with young children)!! Great dogs!!

Oh ok. Its just on youtube everyone seems to down the next persons dog. I jumped to a conclusion. On another note, about her strength, she is by far the strongest dog i've ever owned. My wife can't even walk her. She pulls like a horse when she sees someting. Its not a lack of training, its just she's such a strong willed dog.

herm sprenger collars work wonders, you just have to know how to use them. I have owned Dobermans from working lines (protection/schutzhund) and as loyal as they may be they are extemely difficult to control. The dog needs to know that YOU are in control at all times, im not saying its easy, Akitas are a very tough breed to own. It just takes alot of work, but thats half the fun!

@jamaal1999 There's a type of collar that you can get that will keep her from doing that. I put one on a 150+ pound Akita I had. I'd be wore out walking after a few minutes cause of how hard it was to restrain him while walking. After I put the collar on, no probs after that. I can't remember the name of the collar, but it looks sorta like long spikes, with them pointing inward. Basically, the harder the dog pulls, the tighter the teeth bite down on the dogs neck. Training collar of some sort.

@SilentDiablo I don't recommend this type of collar for an Akita. Get a halter collar for training. Doesn't hurt the dog at all unlike the pincer collar mentioned. The halter or halty pulls the dogs head to the side when it pulls. Which stops it them with no effort. You can control the dog with one finger. I've a large Akita 60kg's+ and my girlfriend could walk him no bother. Now he just has a regular collar and lead and alls good.

@Bouddica77 I think you are mixing a halter collar with a harness. And if they are using them they are using them when they want the dog to halt i.e Stop. Like the name suggests a halter (or stopper) is what the collar does.

I'm not saying it's a mutt, but there is lack of a mayne, etc. I actually think it's a really nice Akita though, but I see GSD when I look at the face structure. This Akita is built though, and it has the physique a Akita should, and by cross I meant between japanese, and american. What I meant by original characteristics, I meant this dog has those powerful akita hips, strong backbone, etc, I'd trust this dog pulling me on a sled, most japanese akita's are now bitch dogs.
