I read the book and I couldn't think of anyone better to hold the character of Lily but Dakota Fanning. She's awesome. Despite her tender age, she thinks rationally and quite mature.

I guess I won't overexaggerate and say that "The Secret Life of Bees" was Oscar-caliber, but it was pretty close, I would say. It had a good, complex plot and some amazing characters. Dakota absolutely deserves to get an Oscar nod, but ultimately, she's going to have to pick just the right film, at just the right time. It will happen for her, but it might take a while.

I saw "The Reader" it is a very good film and her acting is great, but not Oscar Worthy IMO. I figure they gave it to her since she has been nominated several times and never won.
