I had sonic and knuckles in 1995 when it came out and I tell you now it plays knuckles on 2 and 3, and gives you a special stage with 1, because like sayastra said the color for knuckles is not in the colors that are on the sonic one cart, which makes it INCOMPATIBLE. this is fact. don't try to argue that you can get knuckles on the cart version without hacking the rom it does not work. I was doing the exact same 15 years ago. if u love knuckles that much, patch a rom, or do something else.

@KKinsane2009 ur 100% correct. if they ACTUALLY made Knuckles available to play as on sonic 1, the color scheme wouldve been off.

You need a "Hexadecimal Editor" this can be downloaded from anywhere, try Google search.

What you do is open the Game files in this "Hexadecimal Editor" and change the Hex codes to get different results,

Try "Sonicretro", the website that will show you how to hack into the games more effectivly, it's worth taking a look at.

That second hack is actually called "More than a Memory: A Perfect Existence" and was done by a girl by the alias of KojiChao. It was in my first hacking contest that I did back in the early 2000's =) The real interesting thing is that the chao sprite was done BEFORE cream and cheese were even characters

The first one is a hack because locking Sonic 1 (or any other game) to Sonic & Knuckles would play the "Blue Sphere" game.

The one with the suicide is supposed to be really hard. There were some hard spots, but it was mostly one level (nearly impossible jumps, alternate paths and only one right way, intentional glitched deaths).
