(John 4:24) He that is born of God is a spirit, not a soul. Man was created in the Image of God, Who Is Spirit. (Gen 1:26-27) Man was breathed into a dust body & became a living soul (Heb., nephesh). (Gen 2:7) Thus, the soul is "born" of flesh & is included in the phrase "the flesh." See Hebrews 4:12, John 6:63, Eze 18:20. Bless U

Sure science and "Faith" are incompatable. I just watched a program on the Hubble Space Telescope. It was fantastic to see images of stars where the light is billions of years old. I wish that all of you Christians could feel the joy in viewing the universe as it really is , based on the available evidence , rather than embracing a belief system which is unsupported by any , and is a rather feeble old story compared to the truth.

man, reading all these comments is saddening. We may have different views about the nature of God and existence but aren't we missing the big picture? We worship the same God, the same Jesus Christ, the same trinity and ultimately we agree that we are only saved as a result of the amazing and UNFATHOMABLE grace of God. This is a topic for discussion and learning, but if we're dividing over it, we're damaging the body of Christ and I don't think any of us wants that.

I'm man enough to admit that I am wrong. I should have looked it up before. I am not a calvinist, I do disagree with their extreme interpretation, but I also disagree with the other extreme interpretation that just because we are made righteous that everything will be peachy (as per, Joel Osteen for example). Earlier in that passage Paul talks of the dual nature living in us - of sin and the spirit. It's a remidner that Jesus' salvation is not just a one time deal, but a continuing perfection.
Christ's salvation is a one time thing. When he died on tha cross, he said "IT IS FINISHED"! You are saying christ's finish work was not enought? We are saved by grace and not by works. Salvation is a gift. I will tell you what, you keep workin' for it, and i am just gonna walki in it!
now you're just twisting my words. I said nothing of salvation by works, rather that Christ's saving work continues past that initial "event". His indwelling life in us (as you have spoken of) is one which is a continuing work (His work) in us, until the day we attain perfection.

U are reading John 6:6, not John 3:6, which reads, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, & that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." "God Is Spirit." (John 4:24) He that is born of God is a spirit, not a soul. Man was created in the Image of God, Who Is Spirit. (Gen 1:26-27) Man was breathed into a dust body & became a living soul (Heb., nephesh). (Gen 2:7) Thus, the soul is "born" of flesh & is included in the phrase "the flesh." See Hebrews 4:12, John 6:63, Eze 18:20. Bless U

Sure science and "Faith" are incompatable. I just watched a program on the Hubble Space Telescope. It was fantastic to see images of stars where the light is billions of years old. I wish that all of you Christians could feel the joy in viewing the universe as it really is , based on the available evidence , rather than embracing a belief system which is unsupported by any , and is a rather feeble old story compared to the truth.

man, reading all these comments is saddening. We may have different views about the nature of God and existence but aren't we missing the big picture? We worship the same God, the same Jesus Christ, the same trinity and ultimately we agree that we are only saved as a result of the amazing and UNFATHOMABLE grace of God. This is a topic for discussion and learning, but if we're dividing over it, we're damaging the body of Christ and I don't think any of us wants that.

Wait, wait. did you just say that the apostle Paul is not saved? Cuase if so, you may want to rethink that line of yours "Chris lives in us" because that is straight up Pauline theology (Gal. 2:20). Anyway, this video is technically correct - especially within the Calvinist tradition. It's the doctrine of the depravity of man, and it's quite biblical. Paul himself said that he was a "wretched man" (Rom. 7:24).

That word wreched in the original greek text is "talaiporos", which means enduring trial, i.e. miserable---wretched. You have ran up on an informed believer. I'm man enough to admit that I am wrong. I should have looked it up before. I am not a calvinist, I do disagree with their extreme interpretation, but I also disagree with the other extreme interpretation that just because we are made righteous that everything will be peachy (as per, Joel Osteen for example). Earlier in that passage Paul talks of the dual nature living in us - of sin and the spirit. It's a remidner that Jesus' salvation is not just a one time deal, but a continuing perfection.

The trouble is most Christians believe that the only path to enlightenment is their way , which is insulting to other people. I am bad too . I trip over winos on my way to the bank. Dont feel too lonely in your badness pal. I am doing some work for Amnesty international at the moment , who are a fantastic organisation. People caring about other people regardless of their religion. Isn`t that the way to go? C`mon Christians , send them some dough and help some desperate people.

Yep. I am obviously a Christian but, I don't discriminate against people just because they're Jewish, Atheist, whatever. I just try to spread the word of what I know is truth but, I try to show love to people, reguardless of who they are. And any true Christian would love people as well
Jesus wasn't rude to people with other religions, so, anybody who tries to be like Jesus would do so as well, and also teach them in a loving way about God.

Furthermore, no, we aren't to love "unconditionally". I have no idea where you got that heresy. We who are elect are to love completely, without partiality. This almost never means what new-agers, pacifists, atheists, or nominal Christians think it means either.

And presumably you believe that out of the thousands of inhabitants of the invisible spirit world which is inherent in the belief of all cultures ,yours is the only REAL one.(just like the Muslims , Hindus , Aborigines ,Amazon tribes, Japanese shinto devotees . bufantas: I know you mistakenly write "enlightenment", I corrected you. We don't care about enlightenment. We Christians pray continuously that we become less and less important so that God may grow more and more in our lives.
Also, we Christians are the only ones with Scriptures with perfect prophecy and perfect Science. Our Bible told us about earth behind a sphere, for example, where as the Hundi work tells us that it's on the backs of elephants. Clearly God didn't write that nonsense.

Let me add some more for you: the sun stopping for 3 days, Jesus coming back from the dead, skin rotting diseases disappearing in under a second, trumpets knocking down a wall, oh... and God creating the universe from nothing. These are real miracles. Since the Bible has never been wrong on anything, we know these are real as well.

Also, the geological record supports Biblical creationism, not the false religion of evolution. Your information is extremely faulty and will fault under any examination. Also, walking on water was a miracle, an alteration of the physical world.
Please consider going to a real school where they teach science, not that evolution religion.

So is invading Iraq without asking Congress if it was ok. So is placing the ten commandments on the wall of a courtroom in a secular state where coveting your neighbours wife is not a felony. The US constitution was a beautiful statement of freedom and the rights of the citizen to live in a secular country where religion could not be imposed. the fact that you can assess and assign opposites to these things and understand them mitigates against randomness. Randomness is always within a set of parameters unless it is TOTALLY RANDOM by that I mean sometimes I trow a ball and it become water, a dove, explodes and kills my friend or becomes a boomerang and comes back to me in the form of a dog to play with and later eat as the color green the number four and a set of bagpipes!
