All show and no go ? This is all just marketing talk. Of course this is not the type of car to drive hard by young people in their 20's but still aside from the interior features you could have dedicated at least 1-2 minutes to the engine+chassis, suspension, brakes, performance, handling, ride comfort, etc.
@RAPFlavour87 I dont know about that, i have one of the V8 S80s and that thing is a rocket. I also drive it everywhere and pretty intensely. Its been holding up very well. Never under performs.

Volvo managed to add 10more years to the average age of their cars owners. I dont know how they do that but each new car except C30 looks older than outgoing model. Correct me if i am wrong. And is so luxurious to the point that is bland and boring!
"A very luxurious interior for the price??" For $40,000 I expect golden goblets and chandeliers! "For the price." Give me a break. This shows how out of touch people are with the true cost of things. People have no idea how much $40,000 is anymore because no one ever has to SAVE UP 40 grand. They all buy on credit which hides the true damage.
Have had a 2000 2.9(wish it was a t-series), for 7months now, put more than 12k miles on it and the car has been really good to me. its got decent mpg, ride quality, sound and above all unmatched safety rating (that is very important-at least to me)
they should have done hybrid engine. nobody wants 3.0 turbo petrol engine, or even V8 petrol lol merc and bmw at least offer some proper diesel engines..
Bought an '02 S80 & sold it at the price of a Corolla (talk about horrible resale value). There's something about my Volvo that just went wrong every month & just about everything seems to fall apart after 20k miles!
- Tranny twice - 20k & 55k
- Bulbs - nearly every 3 mths!
- Oil leak - 30k
- Bent rotor - 40k
- Climate Control - 35k
- Engine light - Lost count how many times!
- Poor resale value
- Extremely poor reliability
Just look at how many angry S80 buyers at carsurvey(dot)org
But don't get me wrong. It's a very quiet, smooth & comfortable vehicle, with kidney bursting range (large fuel tank) and a very comfortable seat for long range road trips. It really was a great car - while it works!
Can somebody please tell me why these Americans describe engines by its cylinder number and not actual displacement?? How do you estimate the size of the engine then if you don't describe the actual litre displacement??!!??
Most drivers do not care, even the idiotic ones don't, all they need to hear is how much power it puts out and the so called 'size' of it by cylinders. We describe engines by it cylinders, not it's size. But do remember, the S80 uses an Inline-6, so it's going to be quite large anyway.
What does Volvo have in safety that the others don´t? I mean all modern cars do have airbag and collision warnings etc. It is something in the chassi that makes the car different in safety?
you are correct foxx0, Mercedes and SAAB have the dropping headrest, but they drop back into the parcel shelf. Therefore, a passenger doesn't have to flip it up, which is unsafe. The volvo headrests flip forward forcing you to use them. Much safer.
