  • I can imagine God up in Heaven after He saw "Like Father, Like Son"....

"For making this flaming turd of a movie, I curse you, Dudley Moore, with progressive supranuclear palsy. Sean Astin, you will forever be known as that gay hobbit Sam. And you, Kirk Cameron, the greatest offender, are condemned to a life as a dumbass creationist. Catherine Hicks, you're just way too cute to punish, and I can't stay mad at you."

  • 5:07 - 5:26 Siskel predicts the plotline of "Taking Care of Business" (1990) starring Jim Belushi and Charles Grodin.

  • I like Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2. Its 3 I didn't like at all.

  • wow I don't even remember Critical Condition with Richard Pryor.

  • Is Critical Condition the movie where Prior is doing a lady's blood pressure and an arm or the cuff explodes? Scared me enough that I couldn't get my blood pressure taken for years!!!

  • Like Father Like Son wasn't too bad

  • Yeah cuz someone that knows writing a screenplay writing and movie directing would be roger ebert. Because beyond the valley of the dolls was such a masterpiece. Smh

  • If a "Best of Siskel & Ebert" DVD was made I would buy it, I miss this show it was always one of my favorites even when I disagreed with them.

  • Like Father, Like Son: Why in the heck was this made? What a waste of Dudley Moore's talent and Kirk Cameron's bland, teen scene phone-in performance. The script? I didn't know there was a script. It goes nowhere just an excuse for pratfalls and broad humor. *1/2

Critical Condition: RIchard Pryor's worst movie, waste of his god given talent. Ah the mistaken identity ploy of playing someone he's not. Supporting characters should've been put in a coma. Unfunny on every account. *1/2

  • Burglar: Oh Whoopi, no. While she was hilarious at times, the lame plot, horrible supporting characters and boredom beyond belief. Stick with Jumpin Jack Flash and Fatal Beauty. *1/2

Beverly Hills Cop II was a blast of fun. Eddie Murphy was sticking to his fast talking, foul mouthed Axel Foley. Tony Scott blended comedy and action nicely enough. It's also home to the fastest action sequence ever haha. I enjoyed the Alphabet Crimes plot to a point. Flaw: The cartoonish chief of police. ***

  • And there has been a couple of writer's guild strikes since then...

Why? Their work obviously is (with a few rare exceptions) not worth much.

  • this waz the yr. these 2 started acting like fuddy duddies...& both there careers took a turn for the worse...I remember when watching the "thumbs" waz must see TV..till I started disagreeing with them..& this ...along with Secret to my Success ..waz the first of many yrs they got older...& much much much more fuddie duddie...

  • bull shit Beverly hills cop II is a great action film and comedy, it also has a great villian

  • I guess Siskel wasn't aware of Antonioni's "The Passenger" .. not that I'm saying it's great

  • Geez friggin Louise that Dudley Moore movie looks like an evil pile of garbage. Completely and utterly tasteless. I totally agree with what Gene said.

  • Beverly Hills Cop II looks a lot funnier when compared to Beverly Hills Cop III,which was stupendously awful.

  • wow imagine if jackie chan teamed up with eddie in beverly hills cop 2! he could've done it too, jackie's old as hell

  • :52 what would 'you' do, Gene?

  • A major part of the critic's (all of them, not just S&E) inability to rationalize star's script choices in is thinking that the star is offered screenwriting GOLD every time. Gems like Mickey & Maude, Arthur, and 10 were about it for Moore; everything else was to keep the checks coming in. He's definitely not the first actor to succumb to this.

  • @RetroBoyWontDie Not always being offered gold doesn't justify only agreeing to act in shit.

  • @Mrx2848 allow me to introduce you to dudley moore, bill cosby, eddie murphy.....

  • @RetroBoyWontDie That's my point. These actors are (or at least were) A-list talent. They should be able to attract or develop good scripts. Instead, they choose screenplays and projects that any sane person would run away from for no reason, apparently, other than money.

  • the first 75% of beverly hills cop 1 was fantastic but the end was predictable. hills cop 2 was an insult to the original.

  • WOW!!! They were really PISSED about Beverly Hills Cop 2.

  • 5:20- Siskel predicts the growing problem of identity theft.

  • @thx291 Wasn't that practically the plot of "Trading Places" with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy? Although that was a great movie.

  • BHC2 wasn't 1987's box office champ, Three Men and a Baby was.

  • love it! thanks for sharing

  • Haha, Ebert says "why" like how Family Guy characters pronounce "whip".

  • Wow, the scene with the cement truck and the police cars crashing looks totally ripped off of Blues Brothers. You know, I'm suprised they didn't even like the first Beverly Hills Cop movie. It's certainly better than its sequels and I hear that Eddie Murphy is actually coming out with a Beverly Hills Cop 4 soon. Personally, I don't think we need it but it would certainly be a slight step up over all the dribble Eddie Murphy's been starring in in the last 5 years excluding Dreamgirls.
