  • recently visited Zanzibar for the 1st time. Magical!!! deserves a music festival on its own music. Viva Zanzibar and Off side Trick Owesome!!!

  • This sounds almost like Moroccan music.. there must be a genetic connection between Moroccan berbers and Somalis and zanzibar. we have the same rhythem the same melodies.

and this is the first time i hear this music from Zanzibar. after algeria this sounds close to moroccan tribal music.

  • @chaabimaroc they probably sound similar because of the arabic influence in taarab music

  • @chaabimaroc woops, meant east african coastal music in general, this isn't taarab

  • @chaabimaroc as a matter of fact this music is very close to bandari/Khaliji music of Hormuzgan in southern Iran, the beats/Rhythms almoust identical. It's because of the indo-african influence on southern Iran and in Zanzibar they have arabic, indian and even persian influences because of the old traders who came from Persia, Arabia and India. THats's why it has nothing to do with the genetic connection between maroccans, somalis and zanzibar. Since maroccans are arabs so yes, some connections
