@somewhatlongdong It's only "stupid" if you didn't watch it and then thought it stupid, it was actually good. When Sam Kinison IIRC, tried a similar schtick later on, I don't think it worked. This was good entertainment... and for the family as well

That's some funky bass playing in the opening.

But the rest is pure bunk... sounds like a pre-programmed instrumental you got on one of those electric keyboards that were popular in the 80's.

I remember the show, not exactly a classic.

Pretty cool show. And I agree with josswhedon692...the song is pleasant. The only thing I hated about this opening theme was the fact that when Andrea Elson was getting up out of her chair at the tail end, my 14 yr old eyes would almost get a peek under her mini-skirt, and ALF got in the way at the last second!! Augh! ;-) Which I'm sure was by design. Oh well.

When I was in kindergarten/1st grade(1986-1987) this was my absolute favorite show on TV. I watched it all the time, had the stuffed ALF, an ALF sweatshirt, everything. Junk on TV now doesn't even come close. They should cancel all the crap that they have now and bring back all these classics... no problem!

I did some off broadway with Max Wright-very early 80's, just before ALF series-really good actor and regular good guy! For an actor just starting out what a cast to be with-Max, Jimmy Tolkan, Brian Dennehy,Pierre Epstein, Bruce Davison(he never liked the first thing I said was 'You were in Willard)and if memory serves me-Katleen Freeman! Ill always recall Severn Darden downing vodkas at the Ground Round in between scenes!

Curse the producers for releasing only the horribly mutilated syndicate version of the show on DVD.

The original opening was like 10-15 seconds longer, and there was a clip where Alf was unsuccesfully trying to rob a cake from the fridge.
