Thanks, but what did you mean about the solo? Were you saying that my friend should also have played a solo or that I didn't play the solos well? If it's the 1st, the reason is simple: he is a rhythm guitar player, not everyone plays or enjoys to play solos. I'd also like him to play solos, but that's his choice

One word of advice guys: DOWNSTROKES!!

You can check below what I said about that to another person. We both played in alternate picking because we prefered that way. Actually only Michael Sweet plays this song with downstrokes, if you check the concert in Tokyo in 1989 you'll see Oz Fox playing it like we did, in alternate picking. I usually prefer it that way, but there are some riffs where I also use only downstrokes. In fact, downstrokes are usually easier than alternate picking, although at this speed it is harder

Although it's absolute murder on the wrist, the verses are play with all downstrokes instead of alternating strokes. It really gives the rhythm sections a different dynamic.

This is still a darn good performance.

Yeah, Michael plays with down strokes, but from the '89 tour it seems Oz plays with alternate picking. Anyway, I usually prefer alternate picking, but I know how different it sounds and the potential the down strokes have

Yeah I just checked out the footage from '89. You are exactly right about Oz alternating.

Now have you seen people trying to play Mr. Scary will all downstrokes instead of alternate picking? It looks quite painful and a bit funny to watch as they struggle.

Thanks. I've used a Randall RG75 combo amplifier and the effects unit is a Zoom GFX-8. All the effects are from the Zoom GFX-8. Not many people like this effects unit, but the amp is excelent. But I like the effects unit as well. Take care

On the Zoom, for the solo, which effects are you using (I'm guessing some EQ, harmonizer and chorus)?

On the intro/ending melody I use harmonizer with distortion only (the GFX-8 doesn't allow adding delay+reverb on that effect). On the solo, besides distortion I've only added delay+reverb. I also use the EQ and noise reduction on effects unit. I leave the amp in flat mode (all EQ in the middle), so the EQ is only from the unit.

Nas melodias usei Harmonizer, e nos solos é apenas delay e reverberação com distorção.
