I have been playing wow on and off for years. I get bored I quit I come back for the new patch and play the content then quit again. Blizzard is a wonderful developer as well as Sony online entertainment so I think It's fully the players fault if they get addicted or even go as far as killing themselves.
I play WoW been playing since vanilla, but you only get addicted in my opinion is if yo let the game get in your head. If you let the game control you then yes. But if you know if your like me where you play with your friends you know when to quit. LIke i love to go outside and jog, ride bike, LOVE chilling with my friends, throwing football. What happened was, this kid fell in love with a Mangina. In Short, he was "dating" a character he played with in Everquest, and he found out like months later that the "girl' he was dating, was actually a guy. he killed himself, but not after creating a character named I Love You that he left for his parents to see

I've been playing WoW for 4-6 years. I'm 14. I'm 5'6 and 123 pounds, perfectly healthy. I have plenty of friends. I'm not depressed, I have mood swings. Most are a result of things in real life, if you kill yourself over Warcraft as a game, meaning over something in gameplay, you're an idiot. He killed himself because of either something in real life, or someone he met ingame, not something part of the game itself. If you think World of Warcraft is the cause of suicide, you're an idiot.

I've played all of these games. I'm not fat, I'm not depressed, I play sports, I have friends, I'm still alive, I get decent grades, and I'm not addicted to them. If your kid killed himself over Everquest you fucked up somewhere =P.

They have set boundaries and, instead of disallowing their son to have an addiction, they support it insofar as it doesn't consume him, which is a responsible approach.

this story totally left out why the kid killed himself. This was a big story to us Everquest players when it happened.
What happened was, this kid fell in love with a Mangina. In Short, he was "dating" a character he played with in Everquest, and he found out like months later that the "girl' he was dating, was actually a guy. he killed himself, but not after creating a character named I Love You that he left for his parents to see

First came UO, addicting but a little harsh for people who can't do PvP. So EQ popped up, gave everyone its first taste to their kind of MMO.
You may say WoW is better, but EQ did it first, and IMO did it better.
