the kick is actually playing the same pattern as the ride, and the floor tom fills in the leftover gaps. if you look up some live videos you can see him doing it. you still did a great job, though. this song ain't easy no matter how you slice it.
@biffbiffton thankyou man. I've noticed the proper "kick&tom" pattern only after I made this video, unfortunately i couldn't find any videos of Rye playing this song when I was working on it.
@biffbiffton not to be a nay sayer... but i believe you are wrong. in the song I'm almost certain that its played the way it is in this video... HOWEVER! in the videos they posted prior to the release of our color green/colouring book Rye is not playing that way, however in those videos you can also see him do extra fills which CLEARLY aren't on the record. so for tit for tat sakes... the way on the record is being played in this video... however in vids he churches it up.
great cover but your missing his ghost strokes which he flourishes everywhere in order to imply common time... i know rye personally and he would tell you he's more bozio(solid hard and tasty than hxc drummer).
either way great stuff and keep playing as well as you do, you will go far and i look forward to your future.
good luck to you and your inevitable future endeavors.
No offence dude, as awesome a job you've done with this cover, your kit, sounds like buckets with cut up leather jackets for heads. I'm impressed someone's been able to cover Durijah's rhythms so well, he's known for having a really awkward groove in a lot of his songs. Keep it up bro, but go out and by a new kit!
Thanks man! Actually this vid was shot in the middle of kit replacement process. There is already new kick drum sonor3007maple and new acrylic snare by Pork Pie Custom, but they are both terribly tuned because I don't have enougn patience to tume them... Toms are really terrible linden wood crap, but I've alredy replaced them with new maple Pearl VMX toms.
The next vid is gonna be Miracles In Inches, I promise it's gonna sound way better!
As a drummer to another drummer, good fucking job man. This album inspired me to start practicing open handed more often. This song is definitely no easy task. Keep on rocking bro.
pretty close. I actually figured out the chorus time signature change by watching. Only thing that needs work is using the bell of the ride and the crash/break right before the chorus starts is slightly different. Good stuff though
@RABBITANGRY oh ok.. i thought the part at 2:00 used a bass pedal not one of your toms or whatever you call them. I dont really play drums, it's just how it sounds to me.

Awesome cover, especially considering how awkward this song is to play (for me at least).

@astrel23 awkwardness is the reason why i covered it! thanks!

i think you were missing the double bass pedal part from 2:00 onwards.. :/
great cover though :)

@TheMrMetalaxe, Thanks!
There is no double bass in the song. You mean a break part on 2:00-2:03?

@TheMrMetalaxe yep, floor tom sounds really close to bass drum in this record
