  • 6 people are 6 years old

  • It always amazes me how a man so awkward talking in front of a crowd is so at ease singing in front of a crowd. This happens a lot in music.

  • Nice song. ... Great video

  • Marvin, Teddy, Luther - what else can I say?

  • I think he's lip syncing. His voice sounds the same no matter what distance the mike is from his mouth.

  • @Spantila of course he his. Nobody sang live on Soul Train. In one of Marvin's other videos from this show, he joked about messing up the lip-syncing! :)

  • I laughed fucking hard at 5:58, the guy's like WTF.

  • He had some swagg. RIP to both of them

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!! HE WAS THE MAN RIPXXXX

  • Classic! good music never gets old lol

  • I was 7

  • 6:17 she said ¨yes¨

  • it kinda sucks cause he is obviously lip syncing this :( but i know he was a great singer anyway

  • @lsvtecb18c1 no thats what they did on this show, the change the audio over the t.v but its a live performance when you were in the room if you get what i mean... if you were standing in the room you heard a different audio over the speakers it was him actually singing, uh its hard to explain.

  • @lsvtecb18c1 acutally click on the Al Green video in the suggestions and you will see what im talking about, the music plays over them on the tv but if you were in the room you actually heard a different audio and that was marvin gay actually performing.

  • so.many.afros.

  • I remember when we lived in Mississippi they use to have Soul Train parties when Soul Train came on at night.Rest In Peace Don Cornelius And Marvin Gaye.Don Cornelius probably got a Soul Train going on in Heaven.

  • I loved Marvin Gaye...he was such a lover! :)

I think these two got on wonderfully. :)

  • Nice interview at the beginning. I did not expect to see that. Thanks to the uploader!

  • marvin was a player...look how the girls reacted when he started singing lol he still the man though...R.I.P Marvin

  • Damn, Don's voice goes down smooth R.I.P Don Cornelius!!

  • @mkleejr34 Yes, buddy.

    R.I.P., Don.

  • Too bad he got hooked on hard drugs.....drugs = death.

  • @CreoleCommando well...yea i get your point but really A TOTAL CUNT FOR A DAD = DEATH

  • @Adam1986London You got that right. What a deadshit that old man of his was.

  • Man.. Tammi Terell's death affected Marvin's whole career like that? I believe he wanted to marry that woman.. so sad. May they both rest in peace.

  • The Brown skin sister he huged at 7:20 was looking sexy as hell. Huffff, I love my black people, that's a nice crowd right there with Mr. Marvin gave R.I.P. to Don Cornelious and R.I.P. to Marvin Gaye. and love to my black people all over the world.

  • damn their all over Marvin... wish it was me!!

  • What happened to Marvins old man. did he do time? also was Marvin broke and living with his parents when he died? Just wondering. hope Don and Marvin are at peace now. DON CORNELIUS AND MARVIN GAYE FOREVER!

  • Don and Marvin were very good friends and I remember when they played that game of Basketball with Smokey Robinson as the referee, Soul Train introduced the country and the world to Black Music and Culture, His legacy will live on for generations to come " Don Cornelius, you will always be THA DON!" (R.I.P.)

  • I met the father of my children dancing to that song. :)

  • RIP Don Cornelius. You touched millions.

  • ugggghhh i wish i could see him perform at the oakland coliseum !

  • What a terrific video! Marvin Gaye defined sexy & Don Cornelius had such a great show. I had the privilege of knowing Don when he was a newsman on WVON & I was on WSDM in 1970 & then years later in 1977 I got to meet Marvin at Ten Q radio in Los Angeles - I swear he had a special "aura" around him. I was speechless. May they both R.I.P.

  • Don Cornelius and Marvin Gaye. Two influential legends of modern soul who have passed on. RIP

Check out the beard, the knit cap, and the fugly fashion. Marvin is setting the style standard as the original "blipster," yet he is still absolutely ROCKING this crowd.

If you just want to see the performance of "Let's Get It On," it starts at 4:30

  • Don Cornelius way ahead of his time. Thank you for helping to share with the world our music. dance and style. You can be at peace now your legacy is assured.

  • May both of you brothers rest in peace... LOVE, PEACE AND SOUL!!!

  • R.I.P Don Cornelius. Voice like caramelized gold.

  • 4:30 Start singing!

  • @virgilsupreme Yes, but don;t miss the intro and interview, it's only 4 minutes and 29 seconds long... you have your whole lifetime, give this brother 4:29 of your time!

  • @HunterMann Heh, I didn't skip. But you're right. Love!

  • @virgilsupreme Glad you watched it! One Love! Hey, at 5:21 someone blots his face with a cotton swab, must have been the show's make-up person, keeping his perspiration in check...

  • This is wonderful.

  • Rest in peace, love and soul, Don

  • Look at what Marvin is wearing. How many men could get a second look from any woman in that get-up? It's like Dr. Love meets Mr. Cool.

  • Love it. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Soul Train was always cutting edge with hip dancing and usually fashion and even spawned a huge international hit with the TSOP theme song. We're losing too many soul icons in recent years. It's very sad and painful to many such as myself who grew up with these talents back then. I'm sure there bill be some line dance in heaven. RIP Don.

  • Two great contribution to the entertainment industry lost their lives tragically the same way (shot), both are dearly missed along with Tammi Terrell.

  • R.I.P. marvin gaye and don cornelius. don with out you we would not know about all the soul and great artist that was and will always be out here. and marvin. you will always be one of the greatest soul singer ever!!!. you will both always be remember , 2-1-12

  • This is one my favorite classic Soul Train episode. R.I.P. Marvin Gaye and to the creator Don Cornelius(1936-2012) because without him there wouldn't be "Love Peace and SOUL" God bless and we'll miss you,Don. LOL

  • I came here to see some old Soul Train bc of Don...and I see Marvin fucking lip-synching???!!! WTF??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Rest in Peace Don <3

  • I wonder thirty years later, when we look back the musicians from this generation would say that was amazing.

  • His talking voice was so different, compared to singing voice, man that gives me goosebumps, I'm only seventeen but i was lucky enough to stumble upon these great artist's from my parents, haha i'm remember watching Soul Train in 2001, i didn't know it was on for soo damn long, RIP to both Don and Marvin.

  • 2:40-3:05 BEST PART OF THE VIDEO! Lol I LOVE Me Some Marvin Gaye. My Mom Is So Lucky She Got To Meet Him Before He Passed, I Only Wish I Could've. :(

  • RIP Marvin && Don. Two Legends That Inspired Me From The Beginning. Beautiful Souls. I Love You Both. Rest Peacefully

  • Oh Don Why take your life? Rest in peace Sweetheart

  • RIP Don Cornelius & Marvin Gaye

  • Rest In Paradise to the pioneer Mr. Don Corneilus, whom gave a face to Black Music for mainstream America. (9/27/36-2/1/12)

  • A lot of emotion and good vibes this man could transmit through his voice. Amazing Marvin!

  • Comment removed

  • That age was freedom man..

  • @jwatts891 Yeah damn if it were me back then, I'd be busy a lot you know what I'm sayin'...........:D

  • What a beautiful time to be alive. I'd do anything for us to go back to self respect and natural hair!!!

  • The Host has a surreal voice

  • DAMN..he has the most sexy speaking voice!!!!

  • Look at that, people are grabbing his hand and singing with him. You'd never get now a days.

  • I CAN DIGG THIS DOPE

  • Ya Oakland is a great town "to do anything" like..... Smoke crack and get stabbed? Wtf...

  • @mikehh9 what?

  • @mikehh9 just shut up and stop hating

  • The whole room is filled with love.. you cant get around that

  • Whyy does everyone lip sing on soul train?

  • is he lip singing?

  • @MrJayare96 yes

  • sad his daddy shot him.

  • This man had hella swagg. And that song! So sexxy!! Those ladies he sang to I wonder where they are now. Do they tell the story of this song to there children and grandchildren? Mustve been a day to remember! What a man!! May he RIP!

  • @Scotmonsta -- Everyone knows the guests artists lip sync at Soul Train! Marvin even admits he's not good at it at 1:39 in this clip. :-) hehehee.... THAT's why Elton wasn't playing, even though he was "playing" in his clip of Benny and The Jets on Soul Train.

  • @ChelseyGreenProject Elton isn't playing, true, but he's definitely singing it live.

  • The interviewers voice keeps trying to de-pant me, and I'm a dude!!

  • is he lip syncing?

  • @TheOreoGuru everybody lip syncs on Soooull Traaaain!

  • Wanna go back to the 70's an get it on

  • soul train audience were ever so respectful

  • God I could listen to that host talk all day

  • Dang that lip sync back than too?

  • its sad that he clearly isnt singing that

  • @mymorningzion doesn't matter, he performed better than vocalists today - live or not

  • Damn Marvin, what up with the pants?

  • SO THIS ANSWER MY QUESTION ON WHY HE WAS ON A 4 YR HIATUS AND WAS NEVER SAME AFTER TAMMI TERREL DIED. SHE WAS HIS FUEL AND FIRE ON STAGE AND IT MESSED UP MARVIN'S MUSICAL PERFORMANCE. IT'S AMAZING HOW 2 STARS REALLY CARE FOR ANOTHER. THERE WILL NEVER ANOTHER TAMMI TERREL AND MARVIN GAYE, 2 CLASSIC PEOPLE.

  • i like foolin around lmao

  • I wish I was black : /

  • well sounds good

  • lip singing

  • I wish concerts were this intimate like back then there is too many krazy ppl nowadays

  • this is a recording....wtf?

  • marvin is hot and sexy

  • lol today you would NEVER be able to dance with the performer while they are doin theyre thing. to many fucking lunatics in the world that might try to hurt them or something now

  • 5:55 the woman tried.

  • You can really feel it that he loved all people, not just the ladies. What a cool cat.

  • Lol at 2:45 he does nothing but "be sensual" in his spare time.

  • song starts at @4:30

  • man black people could were anything and still look fly

  • marvin can make every women in the room thinking he was singing just for her. hes my fav!! i think i need some sexual healing...oh baby

  • Brother Marvin is a Sensual Mutha 'Shut ya mouth!'

  • You see how artist back then were just as smooth & polite to fans? today you would have some punk thug M.F. repeating himself with ''you know what i saying'' or ''because my boy'' or ''I ain't really feelin dis or dat''. Man it's a damn shame how music has changed for the worse. All these clowns today are to big to associate or interact with their fan base like artist back then. Marvin gaye's face should be the pinnacle of all r&b music. So sad that his life ended so soon. I miss the 60's-90's.

  • Where the hell did all the white people go?

  • If Marvin sung to your woman back in the day, you officially lost her.

  • DC haves GREAT. SINGERS

    rEAl lIVe........... :$

  • he was high as fuck

  • Damn, Lisa was bad! The bitch who ask the first question

  • Too bad Marvin and Diana never made another album...the one they did make is AWESOME.

  • James Phillips (the kid with the red shirt and head band) was straight clownin' behind Marvin the whole time.

  • when they asked him what are other things he likes to do in his past time you can tell it took everything in him not to say snort cocaine!rip marvin but its no secret he was a dope fiend!

  • I will fallow my parents footstep if i ever found out they were dancers in SoulTrain

  • Great artist, class song.I wonder when songs stopped using the lyrics like - sugar, and started using lyrics like bitch this and bitch that.I bet Marvin would not use such words.

  • Actually 6:26

  • He looks like he is really grossed out by the girl at 6:27.

  • who's the asshole who disliked this

  • unlikely you will see ANYTHING like this with any huge performer today...

    WHY?

The performers aren't interested and many fans are just not cool.

These fans had some class AND they were cool. Today we have "STANS".

  • what a gentle man. what kind of hell did his father put him through and let me be the first to say to the judge who prisoned him. release the man now.

  • Fuck I miss Soul Train..Now there this stupid show called American Idol.Lucky people that where next to him singing...

  • even though i didn't know Marvin, I miss him!!!!

  • you are very correct, the crowd was very gentle, today they're too wild.

  • beautiful speaking voice too..

  • I wonder where those that were in the audience are doing now? If they still live in LA and what their memories are of that day. I'm sure it was magical.
