  • Huckabilly Fin! 23 percent national sales tax.

  • I see it this way. A complete untaxing of the poor, a prebate to help all Americans achieve the next wrong on the ladder of prosperity. An end to the unfair tax of American Made Products vs. Foreign products. An end to a system that divides our citizens between Poor, Middle Class, and Rich! For once we will be Americans! An end to era of lobbyist .That is what the Fair Tax means to me!

  • That should be the "next wrung on the ladder of prosperity". Legendary for my Typo's!

  • HUGE Fair Tax Rally April 11, 2009 in Cola., SC. Gov. Huckabee, Neal Boortz and John Linder will all be there. HUCKABEE may be taped there since it is on a Saturday (day HUCKABEE is taped). I will be there. I hope you will too. We need a huge turnout to let our representatives know we are serious about getting this put into law.

  • A HUGE tax increase on the poor and the middle class, a HUGE tax decrease on the wealthy. How do we make it progressive? We'll we get these "rebates" depending upon how much we make. If you think the IRS is a bueracratic headache, then how the hell do you think the government is going to monitor people's incomes for these rebates. Like any Righ-Wing tax scheme, it dousn't work and it's not suppossed to. It's suppossed to "starve the beast" and get us back to the Guilded Age ASAP!

  • Someone said this "fairtax" would apply to to rent -- is that true?

When you hear all these Faitax fans, you think it will be the greatest.

Then you hear it would be a very high tax on your rent. I heard it would also apply to your medical costs -- and even your car insurance, your utility bills.

Do we really want a very high sales tax on everything we buy?

    I don't.

If the tax were 10 percent or so, on your rent, okay. But not 30 or more percent

  • Lol. we are already paying that much, maybe even more, depending on your income.

  • The Fair Tax will apply to rent, but not to debt repayments or the purchase of existing homes. So, instead of seeing your rent spike, you might get a great deal on buying the property from your landlord.

  • What he really wants is for everyone to be issued their government-approved bible.

  • we need the fair tax! titusville florida here

  • Disk - exactly. Whats huck saying "lower marginal rates" for -- thats income tax. Thats not FT. Huck is talking both sides of his mouth already.

  • More unsubstantiated rhetoric from an "armchair economist". What interest are you tying to protect? Got a little off-the-books business going? FairTax would take away your little underground scheme? Uh, let me see... hmmm, I think I'll stay with the experts on this one. I support the Fair Tax and Mike Huckabee.

  • Fair tax isbeyond stupid -- it goes right to insane. I really hope we have the fair tax so you morons learn something about math, and economics. The Fair tax would have to be 40 or 50 percent you idiots -- especially if it repaced FICA and income and cap gains and dividend taxes. A 50% sales tax on sale of news houses -- is insane. A 50% sales tax on a new car -- insane. Medical operations -- 50 % sales tax. Dental visit -- 50% tax. It absolutely insane. SOrry to burst your idiot bubble.

  • Hmmm... maybe you should read Boortz's book. 50% Give me a break. You can knock Huckabee, but do a little more research on the Fair Tax.

  • Um, I think you need to research a bit more my friend, prior to people idiots. It's not 50%. Houses and medical procedures have NEVER had a sales tax. $1500 is being deducted from my pay each month. How often do you buy a big-ticket item..say a new washing machine? Who cares that I just spent an extra $120 on a $500 washing machine.

  • I get to keep my $1500 a month. I can save it (good thing)...or spend it (good thing too for the economy). ALL of those IRS dodgers will not be forced to pay too (drug dealers, prostitutes, illegals, etc.). It's fair to everyone. The wealthy buy more...they pay more. The poor buy less....pay less. AND we will not need to spend $10m dollars a year that it takes to operate the IRS (some operation will be needed but drastically reduced). What could be more fair than that?

  • fair tax all the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ron Paul will get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing. He can do this by getting rid of ridiculous government spending. Ron Paul Revolution!

  • what is Mikes plans for the unconstitutional Federal Reserve Bank? answer: nothing, he is in bed with the crooked establishment. The CFR loves this guy!

  • I Like Mike!!! Check out that crowd! They love Mike!! Go Mike

  • The income tax system punishes hard work by confiscating the fruits of our labor while the Fair Tax would punish us for enjoying the fruits of our labor.

I feel our federal government should be doing neither. A small federal government limited by the constitution, prohibited from directly taxing the people, is the legacy the founding fathers have left us. Preserve Liberty, join the Ron Paul Revolution.

  • Everyone in America should watch this video.

As for me, I'm going to vote for the candidate who steps up and says 'People, we're going to shut down DC for about a year... at that point, we all go to work and I'll see that you keep what you earn for the period - tax free!

  • This guy has real guts and honesty to confront the establishment... he is the little candidate that could. Not only are his ideas what the USA needs but he has the ability to articulate that.

  • FAIRTAX 2.0++: Retailers MUST only collect FairTax on paper/coin money! ONLY US Banks should charge FairTax when an individual makes an electronic payment, because it is cheaper for THEM to do so than RETAILERS-THEY ARE ALSO A THIRD PARTY TO BOTH BUYER AND SELLER SO THEY WON'T CHEAT. Foreign card holders should be able to buy US products without FairTax! US banks should charge US consumers FairTax for spending in foreign countries! The gov't should NOT tax its own spending! Give BANKS the job!

  • Mike is a good man who will make for a great president. Taxes in this nation are a real problem, and Huckabee is a problem solver.

  • We don't need an income, or sales tax. Either tax will b used 2 pay interest on a bogus debt 2 the Federal Reserve System. The FRS is not part of the federal government. The FRS r corrupt, private, foreign bankers. Federal Reserve Notes r nothing but paper that cost the FRS about ½ cent to print. They loan them 2 our government & local banks @ face value + interest. They r crooks, & we owe them nothing. Ron Paul is the only candidate prepared 2 abolish the IRS & the FRS.

  • NEAL'S NUZE 9-15-05

"...It is certainly true that after the FairTax becomes law there will be no more withholding from your paycheck for any federal taxes. What you earn is what you get. This is not to say that your gross pay will equal what it was before the FairTax. This will depend on what your employer does when the embedded costs represented by the tax burden you have passed on to your employer disappear..."

  • The Flat Tax is a terrible idea that will actually increase American's tax burden.

The IRS has capitulated to the facts established at losthorizons dot com that paying individual income tax is voluntary.

Know The Law. Know Your Rights. Don't be fooled by Flat Tax Mumbo Jumbo.

  • Flat tax is the plan proposed by Forbes. This is the 'FairTax'. Read the book, then comment please.

  • Please read the Constitution and the framers intent then do us the favor of explaining how it is that you understand taxation better than them and believe we remove the requirement of purportionment from direct taxation.

  • If everyone paid the same percentage of their income, then thatwould be fair would it not? because that way richer people pay more money, but an equal percentage of their own income compared to te lower class.

  • A tax on what I think you mean when you say "income" is unconstitutional (no direct tax allowed under the constitution. Direct taxation only allowed if proportioned or upon the excise of a privilege. Work is a necessity, not a privilege) for very good liberty based reasons, as discussed by the framers. You need to justify the necessity of reduced liberty via taxation, not expect the liberated to justify the need to remain free.

  • oooohh, ok thanks for clearing that up. So I have heard a lot about taxing only the money that you spend. Ex- You buy a 120,000 dollar car, and you pay more tax on your car purchase than some one wo bought a 12,000 dollar car. Would that be constitutional?

  • The form of taxation your talking about is a consumption tax and is currently constitutional, both on consumers when they pay sales tax added to products by local, state and federal governments ( e.g. a car) as well as when they conduct certain types of businesses. Before the IRS existed there was the ATF or Bureau of alcohol tobacco and Firearms which taxed the manufactures of such items.

  • The real wisdom of the framers, I believe, came from a deep understanding of how our form of taxation can keep a government under control and citizens liberated. If governments make products to expensive by over taxing them economies slow to halts so there is a disincentive to overtax. If you can't directly tax income than you can't interfere with the exercise of personal determination and pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Something governments often end up wanting to do.

  • If a government must rely on consumption and excise taxes to operate than citizens have real control over it. If you don't care for the behavior of the government starve it by not buying products. If you like the government nothing stops you from making unlimited donations to it.

  • So should we, in your opinion, just have a consumption tax on items that are not considered essential, and therefore let people have control over what they give to their government?

  • In my opinion we should maintain a system of taxation as proscribed by our founders in the constitution.

  • ok that's cool, thanks for the conversation, man

  • You are most welcome. I appreciate your sense of community by think about the issue.

  • He's the right man for America. Money and Power should not matter, because all that comes to are IOU's.

  • Sure hope HR25 passes soon. The longer we wait, the harder it'll be. Right now the wasted cost to businesses just to comply with the income tax averages $900 per person in the US. How can the US economy continue with a ball and chain like that around the ankle?
