Is this the same as the EP45-UD3P, but stripped of CrossFire and whatever other features? I hear this is the same board and overclocks just as well - is that true?

With this sufficiently support a GTX 295? Also, will the lack of RAID support affect the disk transfer rate? I have a 750 Gb HDD. I don't plan on using any internal HDD and I use my external 1 Tb for non program files.
@D081 well i actually have the GA-EP45-UD3LR and i bought it a couple of months back to replace my broken asus p5q-pro. even though the asus had more features (i dont use sli or crossfire anyway), the gigabyte is more stable and lets me overclock my e8200 a bit further.

i have theud3p overclocks like a beast running my q9400 yorkie at 3.3ghz on stock voltage 24/7also runs very cool 19cidel 20c load bord temps but atribute that to the haf932
I am in delima which one should i buy. gigabite GA-EP45-UD3L or NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI motherboard which is better i heard nvidia ones burn out rue or not i dont know. any opinion would do.
if i get a p45 /ddr2 board and put an intel E8600 that has a clock speed of 3.33ghz ,
and after hearing that new gygabyte boards dont run the fsb and ram asynchronous anymore will the original cpu speed actually drop to 2.0 ghz if im running pc2 6400 800 (200mhz) ram with that 3.33ghz cpu? its a bit confusing! thanx
bulk 1 MHZ and 1x steps for the fsb and the multiplier is not a quality tweaker imo these lacks in bioses are actually putting off my purchases of 4 new motherboards its a disappointing pain in the ass
maybe there are third parties that make software that allows ultra fine cpu adjustments
A quality precision tweaker bios ought to at least allow allowing precise control over the fist 4 digits of the cpu frequency and the 3 following the 1st decimal point also.the bioses lack cpu very fine increments for fsb and multiplier all it takes is a small bios coding update for the tuners that can allow for example x7.8350 for the multiplier, Cant be that hard to implement in a tiny code update right? =/
Something fast and cost less, My PC Upgrade: AMD 550 X2 cpu. $99.99 G.skill 4GB ddr3 1333 $65.00 Gigabyte 790XT UD4P am3 $129.99 XFX ATi 4890 1GB video card $199.99 Corsair 650W psu $99.99 WD 160GB Sata HD $39.00 DVD-Drive $25.00 $658.96 Wake up and smell the coffee.
Just a minor correction: Those aren't floppy and FireWire headers he pointed to. They're labeled "LPT" and "COMM" on the board, and are headers for old-school parallel and RS-232 serial connectors, respectively. This board does not come with FireWire built in, but of course it will take a FireWire PCI card if you want that functionality.
- It makes noise on full load! There's an audible grinding noise when all 4 cores of my Q6600@3.4 are stressed to the limit. I thought I had a defective board so I exchanged it, but the new board also has this issue! Very disappointed, and now I'm stuck with it.
- AHCI mode causes boot time to lengthen because it has to detect all SATA devices.
- Onboard audio still has minor crosstalk, but that's what you get with onboard
- DES does not work properly. This is a low-end model with only 4 power phases instead of 6 like on the EP45-UD3R and up. With DES enabled, onboard audio will start crackling whenever phases switch. It will also mess up any USB webcam streaming because not enough power will be consistently fed to it.
- There's no (1394) FireWire, and if there is, there's no included bracket.

I can't get Verizon FIOS in my area of SC, cause Verizon is a shit company, and will not give us anything beyond landlines, and a 1/2 ass cell signal, So i went with my local Cable Co. but i have been reading that a lot of people have been having problems with FIOS, not getting it's true speed. Also not everyone needs an OC'd machine so a basic AMD system just might work well for them :-). As for me a i have a stock 3ghz AMD dual core system with 4GB ram. :-)
I said good basic system idiot. I never said it would be a powerhouse system, but it can get you by. I also have to agree with Superharry626, and wondering what kind of internet your mother has. cause i still have an ACER 3050 laptop with a 1.8ghz Sempron AMD CPU as a backup machine, and the internet on it is super fast over a wireless G signal and 6mbps cable line. Your mother must be on dialup, ISDN, or super slow DSL.
No it can't support AM2, cause it's an INTEL POS board. You can build a nice AMD system for about $250. If you have your monitor already of course. Tiger has a barebones Dual core AMD system for $150. throw in a HD, and DVD-RW, and you got a good basic system. :-) better then this thing.
AMD sucks ass if you try to go higher than basic-hobo-homeless-dude-old-people-only-sub-$300 computers that can only surf the web. Some of us like to play games on our computers, if you didn't know that. Also just give me ONE motherboard that supports AMD and Intel. Let me save you the trouble: there is none.
