It's been a while since I've been on here. Can't believe this video has over 5000 hits, and lots of comments both nice and not so nice. Our eel, "Shy Guy" is now in a 300 gallon tank. He grew pretty fast in a years time! He liked to explore and would go in and out of the filter every night.
@cleverlefty u need to cover around the filter so he can't do that because one night he might miss and fall on the ground. it's one of those things where you can't believe it until it happens to you. Eels are DOPE. Mine needs a bigger home now too.
i thought my oscars (bonnie n clyde) ate my tire track cuz i looked everywhere until one day i cleaned the tank n outta nowhere he pops up n never knew where he was just thought he hid real good in the gravel n today i thought this time foreal they ate him cuz i didnt see him but i remember seeing this video n just so happen to check it n there he was in the filter...
o ok now i c him comin out but u probly should of put them in the same vid i think it would be better but u have ur opinin of y u did it so ya i jus think it would be better for them to be the same vid but thats jus my opinion
auctully ive heard from her in another comment she did she said it was a 30gallon tank wich i have a couple tanks like that and they r 30 gallons too so shes not creul its jus a different shape so wut?!?!?!?!!!???!!!
Actually no, Hdub is right. Tire Track Eels get massive, it's trying to escape because the tank is not big enough. What size tank is it? I would not put one in anything less then a 75 gallon.
Also, regardless of whether or not your eel likes to eat feeder fish, they are still bad for it, and i hope that you're feeding it something else other than feeders (however it doesn't look like it from the video) because they have no nutritional value and often carry diseases.
Agreed. That fish should not be with feeder fish in the first place, and obviously the top is not covered well enough. Also, unless that tank is over 75Gs, I'd start looking for a bigger tank soon.
These eels are so curious. Better make sure everything is pretty snug or you might find yours outside of the aquarium. As you can see, ( from my other video) Mine goes straight up the water flow and ends up in the filter. Then he slides out the other side of the filter flow, back into the water! He seem's like he's having a great time! Thanks.
yeah i had one that would do that but one day i found it on the floor all dried up

Nice Tire Track Eel! I think that one gets even bigger than the Fire eel, like 3 feet.
I got the smaller Eel, Zig Zag Eel in my 50g, only gets to like 8 inches. Yours needs at least 100gallon minimum, bigger better.

Do you have a tire track eel?
cleverlefty 3 years ago
No, i don't but it doesn't matter, i know what I'm talking about. I'm just telling it like it is. Do some research.

Our tire track eel prefers feeder fish and enjoys eating them.
