  • I love Jordan, but Robinson had the best speech of the ceremony. I like how Robinson acknowledged GOD and how he was humble throughout his speech. Both of them were my favorite basketball players in the 90s and of all-time. Jordan was arrogant and cocky, and didn't give any credit, while Robinson was humble, laid-back and respectful.

  • damn wat happened to his voice

  • lol at tim duncan

  • Urgh, David if I wanted to hear your bullshit religious crap I'd go to a church..... Ruined all the respect he had earned across an entire career with one shitty speech.

  • @ryanu11 WHATS YOUR PROBLEM ITS HIS SPEECH srry had caps on

  • @ryanu11 you respected him because of the Christian morals that he had throughout his career. get a clue

  • I saw David Robinson tonight in Park City, Utah with his family on Christmas Eve. I was in my truck and he was on the sidewalk with his boys, not being noticed by anyone. I just gave him a wave from the truck and he looked, nodded his head, smiled, and waved back. I could sense his humbleness in that moment. I will be honest, it had been a long time since I remembered David Robinson, so I have been watching his videos tonight. What an amazing player, and wow....what an amazing person.

  • @pagemoney I agree fully.

  • 10 years later... Duncan at hall of fame.

  • he signs his autographs with a bible verse from psalms :)

  • @JinsUnited He does now, not when he was a rookie.

  • 4 atheists disliked this video.

  • I'm a lifelong Jazz fan, but I've always had a ton of respect for David Robinson. We need more people like him in the NBA, in our communities, everywhere in everything. Admiral, I salute you.

  • crypt keeper at 3:43? i think so

  • class act and a USNA graduate just like my dad and brother. congratulations "admiral"

  • if somebody say: shaq better than him, i say Shut a fuck up

  • @burningbobinhell If you knew anything about David you would know that "christian" describes David so well, so if u don't like it then it sucks to be you. Awesome Speech from a Christian man!!!!!!

  • Mannnn I wanna go to church now..

  • 2:52 "oh you will get laid tonight honey"

  • Salute to the "Admiral", a champion on and off the court. Pure class.

  • seriously what on earth could someone dislike about this video? also being a 7 footer the mic is to far away from his mouth, haha.

  • @dashthehero192 This was the best nba video ever.

  • @dashthehero192 I think some people may not like the fact that David Robinson talked about god.

  • HERO

  • David Robinson would be the coolest math teacher or something

  • I love Admirable Admiral! More players like him plz!

  • i feel so bad for the guy sitting behind duncan...

  • I might.....I might need to convert to Christianity......

  • Thank you Admiral... One of the best players to ever play the game

  • The Admiral served his tenure Admirably !

  • That sneaky Lebron... 2:49 if you are't invited don't put on a wig and a blue coat and sneak in.

  • @cangriman0101 literally the greatest comment in youtube history

  • 4 dislikes? Are you kidding me?

  • @hkiamzon

u wanna make that 5 bitch? ill do it!! I swear!

  • this was the greatest hall of fame class of all time

  • Is Tim Duncan not allowed to wear ties?

  • How come he didnt mention Pop?

  • @DMTJkoston Pop never coached him.

  • @Leah5821 Actually he did

  • @Leah5821 yes he did. pop became coach in 1996 when david hurt his back, pop tanked the season so they could draft tim duncan. pop then coached him in 1997, 1998, a title in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and a title in 2003. you should really know what youre talking about before you talk

  • Proud that man is part of SA.

  • A real role model doesn't inspire people to be better basketball players they inspire people to be better human beings.

  • 6:38 Man in the mid left seat had his pants cut too short

  • he looks like lebron james

  • Such a great role model and class act. NBA needs more players like him. I kinda laughed when the Admiral said the Spurs were serious about winning a championship by getting Larry Brown, then showing Popovich. Popovich was probably thinking "Yeah but I got all the championships here in SA." lol.

  • What an honorable man. I've made too mistakes in my life, but men like David inspire me to be a real man. Thank you for being such a great Christian example. I cannot go back but i can go forward hopefully with some of the same devotion to God that this man has shown.

  • Whoever flushed out God from the NBA should get two technicals and automatic ejection. The NBA used to employ role models. I am grateful for these great great players.

  • @HonoreT35 Every Player in the NBA doesnt follow the same religion...That's why the NBA can't be involved.

  • I'm glad David Robinson came to San Antonio and not Jordan. If I could pick one of the two players to be the face of the city and the team, it's David 10 times out of 10.

A humble man playing in a small sports/media market is something Hollywood should think about.

The world can do just fine without Michael Jordan, but the world needs more men like David Robinson.

  • a class act; every nba player should strive to be the half the man david robinson is

  • u know david robinson is a better man than jordan in heart when he has his family to thank to

  • class, i feel that anyone who grew up a fan of the admiral definitely had a true role model to become a better man or human being

  • Wow ... just beautiful.

Makes me wanna be a better man

  • David Robinson: "Valerie you make me wanna be a better man".

David Robinson: " Timmy..Your my man...Have any of you guys ever got on your knees & pray really hard for something..That was my answer to prayer right there...The best power forward to ever, ever play the game..Thats what I say."

I got choked up my those specific comments from David R.

  • @prt61370 i feel you

  • is nate robinson his son?

  • @CGFAxel2nd lol, he should be taller then

  • many times, i hear "athletes can't be role models," and i usually agree, but when i look at a man like him, i just go "you know what? maybe they can be."

  • i go to his school

  • david robinson a class act, awesome nba player. great christian role model.

  • @19t86 i dont think the word "christian" is necessary to be honest, just a great role model. period.

  • The Greatest man/athlete to grace the court! I feel fortunate to have seen this man in action, the golden age of basketball.

    Long live the Admiral!!

  • great personality.great athlete

    respect

  • THE ADMIRAL

  • Listen to this speech and then listen to Michael Jordan's speech. Then you tell me which one of these men is a selfish prick and which one is a genuine gentleman and class act.

  • @MyPersonalVendetta I guess your selfish prick is the GOAT

  • @spainbarcarealmadrid: Sure. Whatever you say. Your ignorance is profound.

  • david never met u but your my lil sisters family god bless u happy thanksgiving!

  • An amazing athlete, a great man of God, and my favorite basketball player of all time. The Admiral is forever!

  • good man.

  • I played with David at Princess Anne Jr. High School in Va. Beach Va. Back then he was a 20 pt. a game player...you put him in if you were 20 points ahead or 20 points behind! So happy to see such a classy man have such good fortune...he truly deserves it.

  • I love David Robinson. He's what everyone should aspire to be: honest, intelligent, humble and charitable. Most of all, he's friendly and helps old ladies across the street. Seriously though, you would be very hard pressed to find a better role model for your children than David Robinson. He has surely been blessed.

  • Lakers Had Kobe Bryant And Shaq

    We Had Tim And David

  • David Robinson may not have even half the records of Michael Jordan, but he has more than twice the class and deserves much more respect for being an absolute gentlemen throughout his career.

  • Comment removed

  • what is that in green clothes behind Valerie Robinson???!

  • such a humble guy! crazy comparison when you look @ jordan's

  • Jesus has blessed many great basketball players with talent undreamt of by most of us, and THIS basketball player came back to Jesus to thank him.

  • That's Avery Johnson in drag behind Valerie Robinson.

  • @BigDTinyE - Anger. At you for that comment. lol.

  • now that's a speech...

  • A warrior in sports and a warrior for God...Gotta love him!

  • Such an amazing person

  • I liked Jordans speech as well. I didnt think it was real cocky like everyone made it out to be. But David did his speech right. very humble and Godly man

  • The Admirable Admiral

  • David Robinson > Chuck Norris

  • Amazing! How different from Michael Jordan's speech. The tributes just went on to the people who have helped. And the love for his family and wife came through! The amazing difference between a godly man and one who cannot see beyond his ego!

  • Now that is a classy man.

  • Big Dave is highly intelligent, it should come to no suprise that his HOF speech was this humbley(if that's a word) eloquent.

  • nicest player ever

  • david spurs miss you the admiral

  • The Admiral...a true gentleman and one of the greatest centers in NBA history. Sure miss watching him play...

  • I'm really glad I stumbled upon this video (while looking for his quadruple double footage - which I haven't found). David Robinson, alongside my father, was my hero through most of my childhood years. Sometimes, since he retired in 2003 and since I've long ago grown into adulthood, I sort of forget how great he is, not just as a ballplayer, but as a human being. Almost embarrassing to admit, but David Robinson, a guy I've never met, helped mold me into who I am today.

  • In my opinion David Robinson is one of the top 5 centers of all time and one of the top 20 players of all time.

  • david is living testimony that God is real..my opinion...I met him in person...he's the same all around..yet tall..lol!

  • big man , big player....!!!

  • Also, He kept the spurs playoff worthy during the early and mid 90s almost single-handedly!

  • He's such a great role model. His carver academy is top class and he overall is just a wonderful nice educated guy! :D

  • The NBA tried to promote the image of David Robinson to young fans of the NBA. He was promoted with "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood" ads. Sadly, most inner-city youths looked at David as being bland, and not cool. So, his squeaky-clean image later gave way to the Allen Iverson's of the world. You know what kind of state our youths are in when a great role model like David is put on a back burner for the bad boy, tatoos & ear piercing images of today. We need more people like David.

  • i dont prescribe 2 ne 1 faith, i read all of the sacred writings - but i will say this, if christians worldwide had a measure of the spirit that emanates through david robinson the world would b a much better place

  • George Gervin has the coolest nba nickname ever in my opinion

    The Iceman

  • SUCH A GENTLEMAN WITH MUCH CLASS, MOST IMPORTANT A MAN OF FAITH, AFTER GOD OWN HEART. DAVID YOU WERE TRULY SENT FROM THE HEAVENLY FATHER AND THIS WORLD DIDNT OR UNDER APPERCIATED YOU BUT IT DONT DONT MATTER YOU CONTNUED TO LET GOD USE U. I TRULY THANK U THAT N A WORLD AND A LEAGUE THAT YOU HAVE TO FEEL U GOTTA FIT N U TRULY LET YOUR LET SHINE........THANK U FATHER FOR BLESSING US WITH DAVID ROBINSON

  • DAVID ROBINSON is my role model

  • David is a class act till the day he dies. San Antonio should be lucky to have had players like Robinson and have Duncan on their team.

  • David Robinson is one of my heroes let alone favorite basketball player. He is brilliant, served as an officer to our country, has such a radiant soul, loves his family, and, o yea, he made the nba hall of fame.

  • This man was a great basketball player, but really he was a greater man with integrity, humility, and nothing but praise for his God and family.

  • wow, a black man that can actually enunciate his words lol

  • MJ had a great speech- he gave the angle of his life no one else is willing or able to give.

  • A Godly man worthy of looking up to.

  • While living in San Antonio I was, of course, taken in by the Spur's mania that permeated the mid 90's era, even though I was not really much of a basketball fan. I give credit for my interest in the Spurs solely to David Robinson. He personified, to me, a man who was both incredibly talented AND genuinely humble. He never seemed to get things BACKWARDS in his view of why he is who he is. He is and remains my favorite player of all time and it makes my spirit soar to see him reap as he has sewn.

  • Jup!! spurs woot!!

  • Great man and player, I am not a big fan of the religious stuff though

  • Class act! A man who loves and respects his wife and children is a real man.

  • My dad met David Robinson at an airport in Lexington after scored 45 points 10 block shots and 14 rebounds against Kentucky. He was a class act.

  • Timmys the man

  • Such a class act. Always been my hero even though I'm from Seattle and not San Antonio. This is the definition of a NBA player and a role model

  • David speech certainly upstaged Michael Jordan's speech...made Michael's speech look silly..lol

David made sure to give credit to his family, friends, and of course God.

With the arrogant Michael Jordan, his speech was all about him, and what people owed him, or didn't do for him..arrogant bald headed jerk.

I love you David...you will always be my favorite basketball player, a true class act.

  • class. i'm a bulls fan, chicagoan, but d rob is a good man, and that counts for a lot. just seems so odd how he is praising his wife, and you look at jordan, and he's got a fresh piece of ass next to him. or whomever that is...it ain't his wife. just sad.

  • @victorjulio15 jordan got divorced, it happens..

  • I love David Robinson, as a player and as a person but this speech was a bit too correct. Lord, praise, etc etc etc

  • what a great man, ill player too :)

  • Comment removed

  • @.28 seconds, it looks like Tim mouths "praise God". What do yall think?

  • jep

  • I think so! Awesome!

  • A TRUE MAN OF GOD

  • tim duncan is sooo cool...he makes normal n boring suits look awesome :P

  • this guy is Aweosme!. way cooler then michael jordan.

  • the thing I've really looked for the HOF speeches is what kind of fathers/husbands these men are and you can tell what kind of guys Stock/Robinson are compared to MJ.

  • true that.

  • Robinson says one thing about Jesus in an 8:00 video and BAM.. every comment is an argument about God. Awesome.

  • He didn't give much props to Pop....

  • tiger shouldve been playing golf w/ this dude when he first broke on the nike scene... the lessons he wouldve learned about life would esp have served him well right now.

  • The Guy sitting beside Tim Duncan at 1:39 looks like he didn't know David was at Navy. Check it out.

  • That's RC Buford the Spurs GM. Of course he knows Robinson went to Navy. He probably just didn't know they came too.

  • @rdanby he is the owner or manager of the spurs.. he knows

  • Robinson- pureclass

    Jordan- jackass

  • @rjets42 HAHA that's funny,it's true,and rhymes!

  • You forget how tall David Robinson is. Great basketball player and guy. Class act.

  • 7ft 1in. tall

  • What class.

  • Can you imagine Robinson saying, "My kids got a lot of work to do to get outta my shadow..."

Jordan just showcased what a classless bastard he is.

  • but he's still better than David Robinson at basketball

  • but it doesnt matter....

  • robinson is the man...

  • such a contrast between Robinson's and Jordan's speeches.

  • @vulva45 What u trying to say? Contrast in what way??

  • @vulva45 you're right, robinson's was good, but jordan's was great

  • @daulkner Jordan was a great player, but Robinson is a great man.

  • @vulva45 OH wow, nobody gives a fuck!!!!!!!!!!

  • He is a true gentleman.

  • One of the classiest athletes and man in sports history!

Wish there's more like David Robinson out there!

  • david robinson preaches at my church

im so glad i live in sanantonio its the best!

  • one of the best speeches of all time in history. This man is a role model for everyone to look up to.

  • why would they rush the great David Robinson ?

  • What an amazing speech by a classy and amazing person.

As much as he's made his sons proud to have the Robinson name, he makes me proud to consider Him a Brother in Christ.

  • David Robinson, class act.

  • Nice looking family!

  • iceman!

  • maaaaaaaan everyone baggin jordan LOL theres a lil difference in MJ23 and EVERYONE else they were great..........hes the GREATEST EVER the only one who wont agree is wilt chamberlain lol............the admiral was one of my fav playaz maaaaaan and the dude was cut like a ripped bodybuilder i mean shredded.... shoot from 20 out easily 7'1 250 lefty that loved to block shots daaaaam he was meaaaaan

  • The BEST of all of them...this guy is a courageous and extraordinary man!!!

  • this speech was absolutely beautiful....when he said he prayed and duncan was his prayer...man i felt the emotion

  • From Spain: It's nice when you can admire the man, not only the player. I'm a convinced atheist, but you can always admire someone so true to his faith and believes. Really heartfelt speech.

  • convinced atheist?? I think that is only because you see the obvious B.S. in ALL religions. However God (THE MOST HIGH) is not in religion, so please take time to find out why these people have deceived us and turned us against the faith of the creator.

  • From Spain: No, whatever I may think about organized religions, I'm an atheist because I'm convinced the idea of god was a human invention. Humanity couldn't face the idea of mortality, and tried to find a meaning for our life. But human life has no meaning or purpose, it's just a happy accident of evolution. It was an idea born out of fear of the unknown. I can see how it can provide comfort to some people, but nothing else.

  • thats an interesting concept.. however there is always 1 question that remains unanswered when it comes to the theory of evolution.. if we(humans)evolved from other species, why havent we evolved into another species?? not a "more advanced human" I'm talking full transformation! Truth is, there is a Supreme Creator. Its very possible that are perception or "idea" of the Creator is off tilt, but there are million more tangible reason to believe than not. Eventually we will all know the truth.

  • We have indeed been evolving. Skeleton records show that we are not nearly as strong as we used to be, and are Brains have gotten larger. The humans species have been here for a mirco second evolution time. To evolve takes millions of years. Humans have been here for some thousands. If we continue to surrive evoulution will indeed continue. You dont see animals evolve over night. It takes time. Eventually our tail bones (from the tails we used to have) will dissapear.

  • Thats a real speech. Class just like always. Made MJ look bad.

  • @MarcAmAlb Hope you get this: this convo is 7mo old to you, but I just saw it today!

I'd like to know more about your beliefs and why you hold them...and have a REAL DISCUSSION about it =). Many times, Christians are quite ignorant of the honest questions/concerns that people have about religion/faith- like yours- and instead of addressing those well, we spout nonsense like TruthTune said below...

Anyways, I appreciate your respect for people of true faith.

Hope you are well. All the best.

  • He loves jesus.. He is soo awesome.. He knows who he is in Christ.. He is so humble..

  • nothing to add to your command Just add my

    vote to yours

  • Michael Jordan should be taking some notes, this is how a hall of fame speech should be done; with humility not this "I", "me", crap.

  • What a wonderful and humble speech! David, with humility and praise, thanked all who have helped make him who he is over the years. He acknowledged that we cannot succeed on our own. Contrast this to Jordan's "me, me, me" speech. Mr. Robinson truly knows what is important.

  • *Sigh* Sad to see all the trash posted on a clip that should be celebrating a stand-up guy.
