My son is ten. And he plays chords very easily. He picked up cord changing pretty much on his first day. Weird and cool. But I'm not sure if he is musically talented or not believe it or not. His strumming is not the best. And I can't play at alll, (though my fingers can do the craziest drumning on the planet - and of course, - I never took up drumming or any other instrument) But he is only ten. And I think this will help him alot.. I think my son Declan will some day rule the guitar

@Kingbosshapp You may not be pushing down hard enough on the strings... Try that... If that doesnt help.. Try moving your fingers closer to the frets.. Not on the frets But closer too them..

... I just don't understand! How are the chords supposed to make noise when you're finger is covering them all?? D chord is so difficult for me to learn because of my confusion!

Okay, I get it, index finger second fret of G, ring finger third fret of B, middle finger, second fret of high e...

If my fingers are covering G B and e, how are you getting them to make noise?

There's probably a simple answer to this question but I'm still learning.. and I've been stuck on D chord for a few days now

@broadwaycakes You're most likely muting the strings, thus they're not making noise as you say. You must press them hard enough to hear the change in sound.

@broadwaycakes Press them hard enough, if you're just slightly putting your fingers over the strings, you're just muting them. Press them all the way down, try to have your finger the closest to the fret as possible too. Just press hard. It should be pretty easy.
