The movie just is NOT that good. I mean, yes, it's entertaining but the hype is what is driving this movie. Plus, the movie gives a very poor message and that is if you are covering up a crime, such as Batman did with Dent's five murders, it's okay as long as you don't get caught.
LOL. You surely are goodguy309, but you just don't get the message. It's a form of utilitarianism approach, which means doing the greater good for the greater public. Batman took the sacrifice for Dent's crime, a heroic acts. You must consider the situational analysis of the movie or story. Massive fear and hopelessness made the people to deviate from their norms, beliefs, values and practices because of prevailing injustices and too much sufferings that they experienced during this time. =D
jamzjam84, ya know, I wondered about this exact thought last week. Leaving my mind open but Batman must avail himself! hehehe, gee, you might think I was a little kid...well, a big kid!
That's not what it's about at all you fucking retard. It's about the fact that Dent was a good guy until everything was taken from him, and Gotham would've gone straight to hell if they knew what their "White Knight" was really capable of. So Batman took the fall and sacrificed his reputation for the sake of Gotham. Idiot.
So, if people have everything taken away from them, then it's okay to go on a killing rampage AND be considered a hero? Would you go out and kill everyone who ticked you off? So, the greater good is that Gotham City is what? Safer now?
The greater good is that people were already confused and causing chaos because the thought control of the city was lost, and that nothing could stop the corruption of Gotham. The point is we all know what Harvey did was wrong, I'm not defending it, but that Harvey was the hero Gotham needed. and if they had known about what he did, it would've broken their spirits, and the Joker would've won. so Batman took the fall for him, for the sake of the city.
Sorry, Gotham's problems had nothing to do with Batman or Dent. A corrupt and disparaged city isn't going to use a bandaid fix. How long do you think it'll be before they find out the truth about Dent? I'm guessing, uh, let's see, THE NEXT BATMAN MOVIE!!
I do know about inflation ya dunce. That's why that figure you put up there is over $2 billion dollars. Gone with the Wind made over $200 mil worldwide back in 1939.
What can you say? Americans like badasses. I think part of the success of The Dark Knight was that it didn't have "Batman" in the title...

Does anyone know what Birth of a Nation pulled in for revenues back in 1915? Also, what would it be adjusted for todays dollar?
