  • Hi I can't figure those readings...how hot does it get? What those numbers mean? Are they in degrees fahrenheit ?

    Regards

  • that is soooo getto!

  • It is, "ghetto". But it works.

  • Very Nice! Simple, practical easy to find parts anyone could build one. Just love it !

  • can u tell me how u installed it

  • you got to love the redneck design.

What a joke and a mess!

  • Hey, the sun smiles on him at least. Radical!

  • It worked, and that's all I cared about.

Plus, rednecks can't afford that much new PVC pipe.

  • @ nitroburn

Why don't you first spent some time to

clean up your yard, and grow some grass were needed, and decorate the whole place with some trees and plants? Belive me when i say that you would feel much more comfortable when everything looks nice. After that you can always experiment with cheap solar power like i did.

Tip: Buy 500 feet of black PE hose. then

buy a wooden plate +- 4 foot wide and 8 feet long and screw some wooden planks

from 4 inch high on the edges ( see part2)

  • Part 2

then a plexiglas plate over it, so that you getting a closed greenhouse box.

Then stuf the 500 foot hose in there, and

attach a small pump to it and your done.

I did the same for my pool and it works so good that i'm going to make 2 more this year. i have those boxes on the roof of my shed, so they are out of sight, and

    it works great.

  • #1, Not my yard.

#2, This video shows a clip of a fence and my neighbors yard.

#3, There is grass, trees and plants. This area is

#4, How about you stick to solar advice and not how I should live my life.

And yes, I've seen the black PE tubing setups many times. Just not what I felt like testing at the time. I was going for a passive/pumpless system that uses the natural movement of warmer water to rise.

  • lol.sanford an sons heater...watch out pvc melts at 212f ha ha.:)

  • It should be Sanford and Son..You Big Dummy...Fred G. Sanford.

  • Water boils at 212F. I'm not boiling water in this thing, just warming it up a little bit per cycle.

  • how hot does the water get? and how long does it stay hot after the sun has gone down?

  • Biggest thing is to shut off the valve at night to stop the flow. Else it will work in reverse and cool the water down.

Water can get to the point of steam. Did that in mine and now it is broken and warped :) Next one I will build with copper.

  • With a pressure release safety valve I hope :)

  • It is just PVC pipe painted black and then arranged so that cold water comes in the bottom, as it warms it naturally rises upwards, the warm water moving up draws more cold water in the bottom continuing the cycle.

It worked, but I would say it was likely pretty low efficiency.

  • do you have any plans for this heater i could see ???

will it heat up a 24' pool thanks kenny

  • what pipe did yoy use to cunduct the heat ? thanks and how hot did you manage to get the pool water to be with this method

  • how about how you did it ? would be nice my kids are freezing in the pool :)

  • A commentary to go with the pictures would have addded a lot. I like the water heater though!

  • Very, very cool for the linimal parts cost you had to work with. Perhaps a how-to video would be in order

  • ???

  • Heating pool water without the use of any moving parts or cost of power.

  • how about some details on how to build it?
