U can definately hear that his voice began to fade during this tour. Another user has posted this song from the USA tour 10 months earlier, and there was more power then. Phil is noticeably saving his voice here and the end of the song.
Once again, this Wembley concert 1987 has got something magic. The audience, the legendary Old Wembley Stadium (even if I'm not English), the summer. I'd like to point out the quality of the lightning colours. The colours in themselves are great, I enjoy them especially in the Mama, Invisible Touch, and 2007 Tours.
one cool mo fo that mr collins ,used to dream that was me on that stage oh well you can dream awesome man still sounds as good today as it did twenty odd years !CLASS!
I love how Phil introduces the song gets the crowd wild and gives me goosebumps. And now TONIGHT...TONIGHT....TONIGHT.(crowd cheers drum machine starts)
The middle section was in the studio version. What you are probably referring to is the version as heard in Turn it On Again: The Hits, which features an unjustly edited version
No, no, I'm referring only to the ending, it's really great, but it's not in the studio version, because it just fades out... the same goes for Mama, the ending in live version is much better than the fade-out in the album version
You're right. I think the fade-out effect is a bit of a cop-out for most songs (Although there are some songs which are more effective with it, such as Fading Lights).
Can anyone explain the config of Tony Banks keyboards during the instrumental section between 4:45 and 5:20? Bank's is working at the bottom end of the keyboard but is producing mid range sounds and then on the same unit producing similar pitched notes from further up? forgive me if this is a daft question.
I think this is most definately the best live version of the track and I love the middle section.
I think it's because he's using two or three different sounds on that particular keyboard (one for the two octaves, another for the next two octaves etc) but wants each sound to be set at the pitch of middle octaves.
Notice Chester's drum sounds. He's using aucustic drums with triggers connected to a drum machine or keyboard giving his drums the electric drum sounds. This system was recently evented at the time of the tour in 1987.
This is definitely the best live version of TTT - much better than the TTT + Invicible Touch medley they have performed on their tours in 1991 and 2007. I love the electric percussion section and end section.
I always said this type of music was before its time..One day it may come back.. Hopefully

I adore the middle part and the ending, which you can't hear in the studio version... Probably theit best performance from the Wembley DVD

@murphitz I think he has those keyboards transposed up by a tone to allow for the higher sounds on the lower registers.

@gloggolyt The keyboard sound used on the 2007 is outstanding, darker, more mechanical. I was impressed by it when I heard it during the concert.
sebchvd 1 year ago
@gloggolyt Cause it was the 80s..far more dark
