I have an Asus laptop with lower hardware than your pc and I have & use Visual studio, but I have never noticed that kind of slowdown you are experiencing I think the problem is the user not the hardware or software....

If you were actually a good programmer you would use Linux instead of mac OS.

Mac OS is usually better for graphic artist or web designers.

Linux for programmers.

That i7 you talking about is only a dual core.

I can get an Asus with 500GB hybrid hard drive, 8G Ram with DDR3 1333MHz apple offers only 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM. With QUAD CORE 4 CORES! Apple only offers Dual core at a Higher price than a QUAD core with more power.

Apples charge you $400 for 8G upgrade.

Your computers Crash and your tech support stinks. People do not worry about the specs. These computers mess up. My computer fan stop working. I can change the fan myself, but they will not sell it to me. They are trying to force me to send it in. And there tech support would have you waiting over over 45 mins in some cases. And they will not even tell me how much it would be to for them to fix it

I just snagged one of these for $549 as a refurb. Lived up to all expectations. Running with Turbo33 + the fancy graphics card still nets me around 7 hours of constant webbrowsing, videowatching, etc. The touchpad is a little spazzy but I prefer a mouse anyways.

These laptops are/were (As already said ~$800 or under) significantly less than Apple's offerings and some of which featured a discrete GPU allowing improved performance over Apple's low-end lineup (which goes up to the ~$1,500 price range) when dealing with graphics intensive applications.

@skrbicdu The problem with macbooks ever since the first macbook pro came is that it has a horrible Cooling Design.... It overheats like an oven.... Watching Youtube videos gives u 80*C by default fan speed and default Voltage... and Apple is extremely overpriced for their hardware..... Asus has more reasonable price for most people....What u get from others than apple is Twice the perfomance and half the cost! I had the bad experience from buying a damn MBP.. it was frustrating to own one!

I just bought this laptop. The laptop makes a chirping noise whenever hard drive is read. The problem is that the noise is louder than other laptops I have had in the past. Is this noise normal for this laptop? I read on some websites that the HDD is bit noisy but not sure if they are talking about spinning noise or disk read noise. Please help.

Nice video but I recommend taking a look at the alienware m11x if you haven't already it's battery life is just as good and has a backlit keyboard with the option to switch from the integrated graphics and the nvida graphics card on the fly and it's only $800

I'll admit it, this is a relevantly descent Asus laptop. Especially because the battery cell lasts all day (12 hrs.) BTW i'm doing this on my iPod so it taking forever and a half. I own the Asus G51Vx upgraded it to G60Vx which is a gaming laptop with nVIDIA Geforce gtx 260m graphics card, 4GB of RAM and 320GB harddrive. If you are an Asus fanatic I suggest the Asus G60Vx $1000. And for $300 more you can get the Asus G71Vx it's better has a resolution of 1400x800

there is no such thing as core duo solo. its either core 2 solo or core 2 duo, the later being a dual core cpu. They are both the CULV versions. the UL30A-A1 and A2 have core 2 duo's as far as I know, so I'm not sure where you saw core 2 solo for this laptop, unless it was a special config?

The Processors with T have a TDP of 35 Watt, the P Processors have got the same Power but only a TDP of 25 Watt (Performance optimiced) but they costs more.

This CPU has got a L2 Cahce of 23MB, which is good and more like the T6000 Serie and the same Size like the P7000/8000 Serie, but the low Tact makes them only 60% as fast as a normal CPU of the P8000 for example.

But for Office/Internet perfect.
