  • I had a stage 2 MK4 VRT and I walked all over turds like this trans am. Only problem I had was trying not to crash when I was laughing at the cocky idiots driving the losing car. VRT FTW. If you think the trans am could win you've never lost to a turbo vr yet.

  • Well, It is a VR6. If it is turbo i think it is too small for your car. GT28 at 5 psi... I saw a comment that it was a 60-1 To4 which i refuse to believe. There are aba engines making more hp than this car with the same turbo. I am not doubting the trans am, just a VR6T should have not lost that race if it is tune properly, with all the work vrslickness said was done then it shouldn't have lost. I have seen low boost VR6T's run 13's at the track, this jetta i say would not run lower than 14's...

  • @sarniaGTP i agree they usually are fwd, but alot of people do AWD conversions its not that uncommon esspecially when youve got so much going on with the car as it is, BUT no one really knows all thats in that LT1 of yours so it is very possible that this video doesnt lie lol

  • @zookiller69 i know whats in the LT1, i built it from a totally stock unmodified car, its a stock bottom end, 6spd, reworked stock heads, full valvetrain upgraded, comp cams cc503, fully tuned, and full suspension addons, full exhaust with headers, fully tuned by me. in the video it was still sporting the stock clutch with 180,000km on it.. the clutch was borked. blew it the next day fooling around with another VW installed a upgraded race clutch.. car hooks like a mofo now.

  • @sarniaGTP thats a pretty easy challenge if your only pushing into the mid 400whp range. especially considering the weight difference. also thats why i asked what your 1/4 mile time was. not only do i personally know 2 vrt's that are over the 500whp range but their not some heavy mk4. their in lighter models gti's that i have videos of going door to door with a 578whp turbo mustang that had dyno sheets to prove his power. since your power is nowere near the mustang id say u dont have a chance.

  • @drtyeurodub right on.. 500HP doesnt mean much. its about the powerband and usable power... why could my stock 275HP 100, 000 mile car smoke the same weight 340HP car(2007 charger) its because top HP doesnt mean much besides to brag with.. the trans am won because it makes huge power and tourque from 2000 rpm to 5800rpm when stock. its about the driver, how the car puts the power to the road and then about power. but ya man obviously a 600+ hp VW is going to be very quick.

  • A FWD VR6 Turbo well tuned maybe 330hp. On a 3200lb Jetta is about 10 lbs per HP. The Trans Am goes 3400 lbs w/ 426 hp, about 7.9 lbs per HP. 'Nuff said

The trans am actually has full headers into full 3" stainless pipe to a 3" Hooker drag muffler.. only the actual tips are still stock. and i like it like that. the trans am is pushing 426hp and probably 480+ ft pounds.. in this video im sandbagging so bad to try and make it seem like it was actually a race. so get bent rookie.

  • @pthtt4 he had maf sensor problems for about 4 months when he got it running and the tuning company diodnt even know what maf they tuned the car for. guess it was from a audi which i also have never heard of. its just a pos car hacked together.. he lost to my b4 passat vr6t and i was non intercooled on 8 psi. i know for a fact that he was on 20psi and 60:1 turbo. 440cc injectors. built head. 8:5:1 compression head spacer. front mount. 3" exhaust and its gutted to the max

  • I'm going to have to retract my previous statements.. Just by looking at 1/4 Times, the quickest Trans AM I was able to find (2000 Trans AM WS6) Got a 13.4 on the 1/4 Where as the vr6 (12v) Stock get's about 15.1 on the 1/4. I'm pretty sure with a good sized turbo on a vr6 you can shave off more than 2 seconds on the quarter, especially since with a head spacer they've been known to handle 20psi.

  • @aetommyboy Well it has an intercooler which means it's turbo'd, but I think it's a 1.8T with a big turbo not a VR6 turbo because a VR6 turbo pushes 400WHP in most cases and that would smoke this trans am.

  • @djens33 he dyno'd under 300HP.. the trans am.. is over 400 at the wheels.. and weighs in close to the same as that jetta.. you do the math buddy.. ever heard of usable power.. the trans am makes 400+ FT pounds of touque from 2500-5000rpm.. and makes over 400 HP from 5000rpm on up.. lol just because some turbo car makes high HP doesnt make it fast.. its about the power band buds.

That puts him below 10psi on a smaller turbo, and before you continue to talk shit, I suggest keeping up with him around a turn. Let's see what Kitt can do.

  • The Bugatti Veyron engine was made by VW, and is a technological variant of the classic German VR6. So they're not 'shit' engines. With a proper stage 2 or higher turbo, installed correctly, and driven by a good driver, with good front rubbers, the VR6 is fast. The one in this video must have had low boost.

  • i find this funny because i have a 95 Camaro with the same engine as that trans am and a 2000 GTI...although it is not turbo'ed (not yet) the GTI is more fun to drive. yeah spinning my tires in my Camaro and launching like a rocket at a light is all fun, but going around turns at 25 because you're scared you'll either lose it or give it too much and put your ass end where your front end goes sucks, handling is great, i dont need 0 to 60 if i can take a turn at 45 without even trying.
