  • My gawd what a beautiful woman you are, smart too! your voice is very calming... Just sayen...

  • brown is a nice color on you

absinthe has never caused me to trip ,.im sensitive also.

its a "high" or excited drunkenness for me,. but its so easy to go over with it and there is no turning back pluss the hangovers can bee a brutallity . .. always cut with water and even then you want more water on top.. and naturally carbonated mineral water for the aftermath..

  • had 4 shots , and I didn't feel very drunk, but i did feel muscle tingling sensations and a kind of glow. although im not impressed :P

  • neurosoup answer your messages

  • I ordered a Bottle of Logan Fils absinthe online from the Czech republic. It was supposed to be "authentic" in the way it was distilled. The effects I got was like having a clear headed drunk mixed with a marijuana buzz. I was impressed with it.

  • We used to buy it off base on Okinawa back in the the 70's and I would have to say the effects would be like a lucid, lightly drugged, feeling but you could feel a alcohol buzz too.

  • No it's not hallucinogenic not anymore anyway. I had it when I was in Gran Canaria which is a tax-free haven off the coast of Africa owned by Spain and many tourists flock there every year. There, absinthe is extremely popular and cheap and comes in many different flavours and sizes. I bought the blue one which was about 70% vol I think and in fact, I had that drunken-feeling but there was a lot more clear headed. It was a pleasant experience. Well I'm now living in Spain, so I might buy some!:)

  • Absinthe doesn't make people hallucinate, i don't understand why people think that. I really don't get why it's illegal here, it isn't any more dangerous than drinking any other kind of alcohol.

  • I have had experiences with psychedelics and I'm also a amateur absinthe connoisseur... I've had 4 different brands and I've tried a variety of preparation "rituals".

I feel it is quite safe to say, that absinthe has no visual effects and nothing other than an extreme sense of alcohol intoxication.

I know in it's hay days it was taken with Laudanum which is much like an opium extract, which I believe is what gave absinthe it's "psychedelic" properties.

  • I drunk some Green absinth few moths back and after the initinal shock of that burning tast in your mouth it was quite nice actualy, almost felt like threshold of mdma

  • its great

  • A few years ago I decided to see what absinthe was all about and placed several orders on line for different brands and strengths I consumed about 15 bottles over a year. The effects I experienced started with a warmth sensation starting in the mouth and spreading through my body. The sensation seemed to spread to my head and mind; I found the experience very relaxing.

  • The Anise and wormwood is somewhat of an acquired taste and some brands are easier to drink than others. The sugar cube ritual is a must to counter the bitter taste. The negative aspect I think is the high alcohol content and over time I seemed to get painful gastric experiences from imbibing so I quit buying it. Also it is fairly expensive at around $50 a bottle.

  • I was thinking about possibly trying absinthe minus the alcohol. One of my friends seemed to think that it would be possible, but of course I would want to research it first to be safe!! Perhaps a tea of wormwood could extract the thujone & etc. I'll let you know if I stumble upon anything interesting. :)

  • Hello everyone! Two weeks ago I have drink ed some absinthe about 10 shots I think and I have feeling really good, but I don't have presented any psychedelic things. In that night I was in a disco and the music seems to do some effects to (I don't like techno) loool.

So NeuroSoup I think that you should try it because it makes you feel good. lol And if you never try you never know.

    Bye.

  • Last night I drank Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe. I enjoyed it quite a lot. My main entree for the evening was a hand-full of liberty caps I picked from my backyard, and some golden teachers which I cultivate myself. For dessert I hit the bong and kept downing shots of Vieux Pontarlier.

  • Soon after, my friends the aliens dropped by to say hello and shoot the shit. We played poker. I won (of course), taking 322k off the slimy little bastards. Some of them came up short on their debt, so in exchange for the cash they shared with me all the secrets of the universe---or rather the multiverse.

  • Anyway, after being imparted with this ancient, esoteric, and infinite knowledge, I soon discovered that I held the key to all mankind's salvation. Only through me ... and me alone, may YOU be saved.

  • But there is a price.

  • To acquire true peace of mind, well being, and eternal life you must give unto me all your worldly possessions and swear ever dying obedience and loyalty. You must also sacrifice your first born child. (Sorry about that one.) And if you're a hot chick (NeuroSoup girl), you will have the great honour of being concubine to a GOD.

On n'apprend pas aux vieux singes à faire des grimaces.

    Suck my balls!

    So, all in all . . . it's a pretty good drink.

  • Never met anyone whos tried it but I would try it if it was around.

  • i don't know if it's been said yet- but thujone can be dissociative- it's what causes the "high" in wood glue. but, that's from inhaling it- i haven't found any research at all to indicate that drinking it would make it become psychoactive...

  • You never mentioned wormwood. I thought that was in it. Also it is always depicted in movies being set on fire on a laced sugar cube. IDK if it is true but I would not be interested in drinking that stuff. Sounds kind of weak and gross. Thanks but I'll stick to mushrooms.

  • It's worth trying once. Keep an open mind!

  • I had chest burns lol had to sit down walking to the club. Evil drink haha ... Bought it legally in Ulverstone, Tasmania... not sure if it legal now... haha

  • WTF? SOUNDS DISGUSTING!!!!

  • Actually, Jagameister (is that spelled right?) is an interesting drunk in it's own right. If sipped on the rocks, quickly, cold and neat, it tends to illicit a dream-like buzz unlike anything else, and yet 'till near the end you're cogent enough to play an instrument and remain in a half-decent creative-state. The hangover is evil though. Too much sugar. Add beer to the mix (say, as a chaser), and you'll hurt aplenty the next day. And even the day after....

  • You can't call on the Green Fairy. The Green Fairy calls on you.

(We never met, and given the outrageous price here in Canada and the outrageous taste, probably never will).

  • Not all kinds of Absinthe contains thujone. In the country I live in absinthe containing thujone is actually illegal! So its not "real" absinthe before we add the nice (and yes psychedelic) ingredient ourselves. It wont give you halucinations, but it makes you get drunk in a stranger way. ;-)

  • This is easily available in the UK, most off licences sell it. It is very strong, it needs to be diluted more than even Ribena. It is not hallucinogenic at all. It just gets you drunk, albeit a slightly odd drunk, but drunk. Just like all alcohol. It was 97%.

  • I did not trip on it and I drank five shots. Maybe the old stuff was better. Anthony Bourdain drinks absinthe in france on one of his shows. Looked like he was tripping but that was probably just the camera editing for effect. I have heard from a couple of friends they blacked out on it...

  • I have drank plenty of absinthe. I have never experienced anything psychedelic. I did, however, get extremely wasted. I liked your term lucid drunk. When getting drunk off absinthe, I usually feel theres an extra edge to my buzz. I tend to feel less drunk than I actually am, which is a double edged sword. Its like killing two birds and getting stoned because it also makes me feel a little like I got high before I started drinking even when I didnt. It's good for special occasions.

  • where can you get this???

  • hahacheezitsarentfun - a bar or online

  • These days you can get it at about any liquor store, and quite a few bars. If you want to find a good selection of brand names you will probably have to go to a larger or more upscale liquor store. Read the labels, because for a while there was absinth made for the US market that removed the Thujone. Even though its legal now there are still some varieties made without the Thujone.

  • I like the new mic and green screen! Does the US have the hallucinatory absinthe? I bet you can get the good stuff in Europe!

  • There are no longer restrictions on it in the US

  • doesn't it have wormwood in it?

  • It's all about the Thujone content. 85-100ml per 0.7L bottle anything less not worth messing with. the down side expect to pay at least $100-$200. the best is made in the Czech republic IMO.

  • Its all about the Thujone content (80 to 100mL per 0.7L bottle). That comes at a price expect to pay over $100 for a good bottle. There are many fakes and badly made ones out there. for my money buy Czech absinthe (king of spirits or King of Absinthe Platinum). but remember they are like 140 proof, if your are not used to alcohol you might pass out before you feel the Thujone.

  • trippy backdrop

  • absinthe is legal in germany where i live and i have drunk it several times. it came in very high concentration (like 40% or so) and the effect on me was: i felt not drunk but i had the typical effect of a lowered inhibition treshold and being more open. also it indeed felt a little like THC though at the time i didn't know it was suspected to act like THC.

  • Ive drank absinthe and to me it was a lucid drunkness. Doing shots and smoking pot (Brand =Unknown) .

I fund it to be one of the worst tasting alcoholic beverages out there. I didnt try The Flaming Sugar Cube method though.

For me, nothing to write home about.

  • Neuro have you ever tryed MDA? its a little off topic, but i have, and i say it blows MDMA out of the water. thanks. P.S. absinthe is mildly psychedelic, its all about ur mindset, but indeed it is a more Enjoyable drunk. i do dislike the drunken state tho.

  • ding ding ding

  • Do not buy the Check absinthe , it tastes like crap ! The best tasting absinthe is Mata Hari in my opinion . If you drink most of the bottle , drop all your pot stems in the bottle and let it sit for 2 weeks , strain and drink . At 60% percent alchohol it will pull all the cannabanoids and thc into your drink . Nice.

  • so does absinthe give you hallucinations? and where can i get some in the US? if i have to i will go to europe to try it, but preferably i would want to try and get it in america.

  • gotta let it sit for awhile but its nice man.

i like putting a small bud in a shot of everclear.

  • That's correct.

  • i tried it once, i felt more awake in comparison with other alcohol and also more energized. And if you drink it you won't have a headache the next day. But since i am more on the spiritual path i don't drink any alcohol anymore because it sucks!

  • I've tried Lucid and a couple others which I don't remember the names of. Beverage and More has quite a variety now since the ban was lifted. I do believe Lucid is the best though (cool website also :^) ), since they do not dye it green like some other brands. Yeah the high alcohol content would be the only reason for anyone who thought they might be flippin' out. If you REALLY like the taste of licorice then by all means give it a sip. I find it quite pleasant while some people find it vile.

  • drank it in new orleans for the first time, got super drunk, smoked a good joint with it, passed out

  • someone send youtube some trips and weed and tell them to chillax

    breakfast?

    :)

  • ur not still asking people to take this shit and tell u wot its like cos u wont take it urself...ur not silly are u?...personaly i think ur attitude sucks..

  • That's a laugh, butlincat telling people their 'attitude sucks', the irony of it...

  • Do you like candy? O, I can't ask that because I don't eat candy myself.

  • I had it more then once b4(Lucid)I have the bottle. 62%. It's not a psy today less ingredents then b4. You might see something off it but could all be in the mind. It's totally different from being drunk cus it feels like yer on something else. A small amount with a small amount of pot is heavenly. I have vido's on my page with it. Look em up. Mine is more of a cloudy white colour when ya pour the water over the cube. You do not light it.

  • couldn't agree more. i love a dose of absinthe after some top shelf herb. heavenly is an understatement :D

  • who tried this?

  • try prague absinthe :)

  • i hate youtube, but love your vids

  • Simply evaporate the alcohol if you want to try the flavor and thujone effects.

Get a pure organic kit & make it without alcohol.

  • What is Absinthe Robette? I see that poster in some people's rooms. It is beautiful artwork! Who drew it and what does it mean?

  • Fuck copyrights.

  • You put out this vid a couple of days ago.????

  • Yes, I loaded it yesterday but I had a copyright violation in the previous version.

One of the images was creative commons 3.0 licensed. I thought I could use it as long as I gave them credit, but I was informed by youtube that partners can't use creative commons images in videos. So, this version only has public domain photos.

    Sorry for the repeated video...

  • Google has ruined this website.

  • I still really like youtube, but I agree that it has become more complicated than it used to be.

  • Look up the copyright laws. Theres a loophole. Know your rights :)

  • thanks I really enjoyed this and found it informative. I've been reading Sartre and at the time of "Age of Reason" (1930s') this drink was popular with Paris Bohemians.

  • yayy

  • SWEET YAY
