You can never go wrong with these cars, I owned a 95 lexus es300 auto and I ran that fucker into the ground, And I still traded it in a got money for it. I drove it from Portland, oregon to los angeles 3 different times with the engine light on. If there was a list of top 10 most reliable cars of all time the ES300 should be on there and I even had a stock one and no bullshit I have two friend that both own honda s2000's and I smked them both, They were even amazed that it is a very fast car.
yeah thanks. I was going to make another video in higher quality i just havent gotten to it yet unfortuantely. this time, nothing in trunk, just factory weight and with my better conditions [like the stupid exhaust leak that was in this vid that has been dramatically improved since then]. i also have different rear springs .....anyway, i should be able to get a much faster performance in the forth coming video. stay tuned.....
ll cool pass. yah it happens. THE FUCKEN NEEDLES are burnt. I own two of the same year and 91 sc400 same problem and an ls430 that i just begining to burn the bulbs. SO dont fight it. it happens. and the dam cost is around 1900 dollars CAD. TOO MUCH TO SPEND
one more thing, yes it has the typical thing happening, but it's been avoided by running the lights low, so it should last a while. it's not that hard to fix and expensive. it's like 20 dollars usa. just replace with all led instead of incandescent. the thing at lexus is like 1000 usa if i remmeber correctly, but that is needless. besides, you know how rare the clusters with 6500 redline are? ;-)
i made another with much higher speed :> but, im going to fix my exhaust leak to shut up the haters : ) then, I'm going to do a full out test, 0 - top speed, expect it within a month
i guess it comes down to, do you know a lot about the two cars in question? also, do you notice my speedometer is probably a lot different than the lesabre?
the main reasons why my car isn't in the low 7's like most v-6 jap sedans from the 90s with stick shift [nissan maxima, mazda 626]: very tall, non-sporty gearing, and high vehicle weight.
if you compare this car to the 1993 nissan maxima SE [which was widely acclaimed by all magazine] I am just as fast
not only that the 5spd ES' ( my brother one as well) are fully optioned which makes them tip the scale at around 34-3500 pounds. (to clarify LL's weight comment) my personal ES isnt as heavy but is a auto so would lose miserably in a race.
i looked up the 1993 buick, it's basically an equivalent to the car I have, except that it literally is not, the diamante is more in this car's class at the time. the buick was not really the competition at all. but lets talk here: your 1993 buick [we are comparing apples and apples, right?] has a 3.8 L with 200 hp and 220 ftlbs, my 3.0 has 188 hp and 190 tq. My car has every option, and tops out at 135 mph. It does the 1/4 in uner 16 seconds. all with this horrible gear ratios
yeah, I actually like to get my yard work done while watching this on my PDA, and heck, sometimes I even make a sandwich too, since I actively go out and play videos of cars to get accurate 0-60 MPH readings of a stock car , like you do, obviously ....
I have a 92 es300 auto, its pretty damn fast i just fixed an exhaust leak. What do you average in mpg? like city and highway, oh and i gave u 5 stars =]
well, ill tell you what, i have the software and know how to give you fuel economy charts if you want/need them. it will help you more than you can believe at first to go speeds and such to maximize fuel.
I drive in suburbia and I get about 17/18 mpg, short trips [4 mi or so max]. and i know what im doing with the gears. lol
i believe the camry weighs about the same, which is quite surprising.
the reason, then, why the 1992/1993 Camry SE models are faster is they got a decent final drive ratio [3.93:1 vs our 3.63:1] that boosts torque at the wheels and is better for acceleration 0-60mph and 1/4 mile. It should be no sweat to update an ES to this, and I plan on doing it for sure. The SE weight is 3278lbs, too, which gives almost .2 sec, gearing therefore is about 0.5 second for 0-60
but, the vq30de was good. the vq35de , found in the 2004-2007 FWD cars is pretty poor. I can't see why they dont consider that-- they only rate it to the ten best list because they are biased from years past. Also, it's better quality in the RWD form, but that's not even mostly how it made it. I read the reviews commentary, they also didn't like it, yet, it ended up on their top ten list
ill correct myself ive beaten every vq ive races...(4th gen maximas) but a 3rd gen did kill me on the highways once 40-110 or so. thos things with the vvt and nice aero are lil monsters.
haha yea i wouldnt ever buy a car slower than mine im lookin for a bmw 540i but i know i will miss mine dearly when i get one. Have u thought about the trd charger? its cheap and with 6psi u'd be making around 250hp to the wheels. food for thought if ur going to keep the car.
we must be twins because that is also the car i want to get
haha
weird.....
540i w/ 6speed [m sports pkg]
the 2003 and 2002 are the best of them
the trd is harder to make work with my engine than yours, but in reality my engine is so good and strong that i can go the turbo route, on all stock parts, with the exception of fuel upgrades. 5 psi should net me 'round 280 horsepower. i though about doing a supercharger, not neccesarly TRD , and getting with electric clutch to enable disabling it
hahaha thats funny...great minds think alike huh. yea i figured ur engine would handle more boost then mine because ur bottom end is much stronger. thos 540s are faster then the 90's m3s and much much more plush. Thats the only car i can see myself buying if im going to spend over 15k. hahah thats funny shit.
yea dinan makes a great kit...little pricy tho. Do u kno wut kind of life to expect from these 4.4's? I kno they are great and sound superb. But im looking to get one with around 60k miles and wanna actually throw money into it, but for me to do that id want it to last at least 200k. also hell yea with the M package. thats a make or break feature. ..Sorry to hijack your post haha.
nice buddy...i love ur car, i love ur year lexus looks much nicer then the camry with the minor changes. hope she lasts u like mines lasting me...i got 200k on my 97 5 speed. this is not the 1mz tho is it??
here's the deal: my engine is the 3vz-fe. its block is cast iron material, the heads are aluminum alloy. your engine, assuming you dont have variable valve timing and more later enhancements to the 1mz-fe, is identical except the block would be made out of aluminum alloy. Essentially, the same, but not .
Furthermore, my vehicle has a weight, without me in it, of 3,560 lbs, yours is much less[probably around 400 to 500 lbs less]. Factor that in when comparing.
yea thats wut i thought...i kno the 1mz is basically the same engine with a little reworking. Kinda shitty thing of toyota to do seeing that nissan completly redesigned there engine when they made the VQ. But the 3vz and the 1mz both have great lower end tourqe. I jus hate how my engine feels so damn winded above 6k RPM. nice car, Id rather lug around 500lbs and have a lexus then have my 3100lb Camry. ehh, i wish i woulda got that damn TRD charger. new pully and they say our cars can handle 8psi
the VQ30DE has poor low RPM torque; the 1MZ-FE has abundant low RPM torque.
Furthermore, the engine is not signifigantly more winded than the VQ;
They are sortof similar on paper.
The mazda designed and made KL-DE / KL-series is actually very similar [not by any intention of the designers] to the VQ30. My 3MZ-FE is similar to the nissan VG30DE / VE30DE
VE has vvt. thats why the VQ was so different. I hate that fukin wards 10 best...its jus about the most bullshit list ive seen. It actually has the 5.7 HEMI on it. Whereas Chevys LS2 is not nore is toyotas 5.7 nor nissans 5.6? These Camry engines never got the respect they were due. I think the 3vz and the 1mz only made it 1 year both the VQ made it 12 years consecutive. BLEH...Ive raped every fukin 3.0 maxima ive raced, even an auto 3.5 alti. nice to talk cars with sumone who has one like me :)
once i get the exhaust leak tightened down tonight, i will surely join you in that competition. i think i am just a very good driver, i used to race cars, this my cruiser dude. but i figured i would put a video up in case something happened to this, or if i sell it.

@olverafam Were your friends even trying? The 1MZ-FE is a nice engine, but I know if I ever raced Mom's Camry against my friends' S2000s, I'd lose.
Those V6 Toyotas were fast cars for the time, but they don't compare to Honda S2000s.
