I'm so grateful and glad that I grew up in an era when music was organic,creative,real and had a message whether it's "A Woman's Gotta Have It' from Bobby Womack or "The Message" from Grandmaster Flash. Whitney had 'U give good love' then Mariah came out with Visions. Then Whitney had a fast joint and soon Mariah did too. Only after I bought Visions did I start to like M. Well some current artists are Jazmine Sullivan, Chrisette Michel, Marsha Ambrosia, and Ledisi. However, one of my favorites is Musiq. Even though he had mixed it up on his next to last album that he has just released, he's pretty consistent. B/c II don't have day to day access to R&B stations, I occasional listen to online radio to hear what is current (and sometimes VH1 Soul). But, yes. I agree. However, instead of being inspired some artist will just pick portions to sample.

And you know that sample queen "Mariah Carey" sang the heck out of this tune on her "My All / Stay Awhile" remix. If you like this, you'll love that because the female singer, Nichol, in Loose Ends wasn't a great vocalist.. This group stood out on their awesome musicality. All their hits should be remade by singers like Mariah who can add a real "voice" to this music.

If anything, MC's voice, which you state is a real voice(shaking my head) would be "over-the top/too much" to this music.
