By the way megadeth is one of my all time favorite metal bands but i have to admit that they are not thrash , they used to play speed metal from the 80's to the rust in peace , now since they released countdown to extinction their genre is melodic heavy metal.

History of Heavy Metal Rockumentary Documentary... biggest cr<p I've ever laid my eyes upon... so many wrong things, next will they tell me that Madonna was a hard rocker and the best drumer that ever lived??? -.-''
@DarkTuga96 I know! They even said the Highway to Hell was AC/DC's 5th album. It was their 6th and their last one with Bon Scott. Their 5th album was Powerage
You must be fucking stupid if your commenting "RHCP aren't Metal, This is stupid" It was said in this doc that "They're taking metal into new directions, the form of the music may change, but clearly the fleet goes on" Therefore, stating that it was influenced by metal and still had some metal spirt in it, making it somewhat similar not only by sound, but visually as well and they sparked up new kinds of bands, such as themselves. idiots.
@cradlestoner It's true that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are not heavy metal, but they are a major infuence in 90's alternative rock and heavy metal. There is also a metal influence in the RHCP's style. John Frusciante is a big fan of Randy Roads. And Korn has said, that Flea's bass plyaing style, influenced there bass sound. The best part about music, is that no matter how different the genres are, in some way or antoher, its connected to each other like a giant spider web. :)
They totally forgot to mention the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal which leaders were Iron Maiden and which is the root of the whole Metal scene until today. The big bang of Metal was Black Sabbath, but the scene truly started with the NWOBHM and Iron Maiden. But Metal is a British Music in it's roots and this docu is American so what can I expect...
And the 90s were crap! Alternative music sucks serious cock!! Metal had left the charts and returned into the underground in the 90s.
@Thoemme666 Agreed. The 1990´s was fucking horrible... That fucking techno crap being played all the time on the radio and on mtv i fucking hated it. And then the alternative shit wich was no better. The only good thing about the 1990´s was it brought a new wave of Punk Rock, The Ramones finally saw some major success amongst others like Bad Religion etc.. yet the best there still came in the underground. Metal was nowhere to be seen.
@Thoemme666 yep this was the NWOGHM new wave of german heavy metal.bands like ACCEPT,RUNNING WILD,VICTORY,BONFIRE,KREATOR,HELLOWEEN,THUNDERHEAD,AND MANY MORE were the german counterpart to the NWOBHM.enjoy music listen to rock music is awesome
keep metal alive donate money to me. faith no more rhcp aic were not metal but they didnt pretend to be, so what, so what, so what so what u boring little cunts!
Ratts album: "Invasion of your privacy" Was one of my top 5 favorite albums. Faith no more had a singer with a plugged nose voice, one of my least favorite.
Janes Addiction and RHCP don't even come close to summing up 90's Metal. Instead he should have mentioned bands like Pantera, and Alice in Chains (Mainly grunge, but the heavier side of it)
@ThazuaBlackarrow ...WHAAAAT THE FUCKKK!!?? Pantera is one of the greatest Metal bands of all time. They were even the first REAL Heavy Metal band to hit number one.
@Hughesy16LFC I think you misunderstand what I mean by REAL Heavy Metal band. Basically when bands like Metallica were stripping down their sound for commercial purposes, Pantera got heavier, and heavier and then hit number one. Also, hitting #1 in the US, is a bigger deal than hitting #1 over here in the UK
@SpicyDragoon No i know what you mean by real metal. Its just that albums like Paranoid and Number of the Beast had already gone to number 1 in the UK, but i just wasn't sure about the US. Even so, hitting number one has nothing to do with how good a band is. Personally, I dont think Pantera are that good. Power Metal and CFH are good albums. The others mainly just ok imo.
@Hughesy16LFC Yeah, but Pantera is heavier than Sabbath and Maiden, even though they've influenced Pantera. And I agree that hitting number one isn't that amazing, but it's good to see a band like Pantera creep up and kick the shit out of terrible music, especially at that time. They're one of the greatest bands to put soul into their music.
W.A.S.P. were about as Hair Metal as Venom and Slayer (circa 1983). I hate all that hair/glam shit and calling W.A.S.P. such a thing is an insult and just plain wrong. They started off as raw, filthy heavy metal and evolved into something more epic and grandiose. Hair "metal" is about guys dressed up as ugly hookers playing sugar coated hard rock. That doesn't sound a thing like W.A.S.P. to me. W.A.S.P. were and still are genuine heavy metal, not glam rock posers!
Well, the way I see it they don't have anything to do with heavy metal, or any kind of metal for that matter. I would not even call them hard rock, so calling them a metal band or even an alternative metal band is a longshot in my opinion.
To me, it makes the same amount of sense as if I'd say that Megadeth is taking jazz fusion to new directions :)
@Cradlestoner its like there inspirations were something else and they are doing it differently, like metallica and slayer took heavy metal to a new direction, which became thrash
Still, I think it's stretching it to say that the Chilli Peppers are taking metal to new directions as their music doesn't resemble any kind of metal. If they sounded more heavy or more aggressive, then I'd agree that they were taking it to new places.
The reason that I don't agree is basicly that I don't hear metal or even hard rock influences in RHCP's music, they don't sound or look metal...I just don't see what they have to do with all this :)

@Cradlestoner Well, then they stand alone, like U2 in their own way because the Chilli Peppers are definately not heavy metal by metal music standards..They're way too funky to be a heavy metal band..
Yeah, I agree. They kind of stand alone, as do U2. If I would define the genre of the Chili Peppers I'd probably label them as funk rock. Don't know how valid that is, but it's a shoe they seem to fit into :)
@Cradlestoner Yes, very true.. Don't get me wrong I love the chilli peppers . I saw them perform in 92' Great show. They are like the heaviest funk band (with those crazy bass riffs) defining their sound I've ever heard. Peoplw were dancing to their music.
I have never seen a whole audience dance to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth or hard core metal bands. Sure they jump around in the moshpit but thats to punch each other out...But, I've also seen them mosh at a chilli peppers concert .
I was referring to the death metal that was coming out of NY and Florida at the time. Stuff like Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation.
Most of the bands mentioned at the end of the video inspired/influenced the rap/alternative "metal" that plagued the world in the mid-late 90s.
@Thrasher9996 Yeah why the hell didn't they mention the good 90's stuff? Morbid Angel are one of if not then THE best Death Metal band from that era, fuck I hate Metal stuff talking about the wrong Metal if you know what I mean.
Well, this was made by MTV and MTV has always pushed what they thought would get ratings. They refused to show videos by or talk about black musicians like Michael Jackson when they first started because they didn't think suburban white kids would like that.
