  • in indonesia it is kerak nasi

  • Can you make it without the soy sauce?

  • @DannyAL7 yep, that's only for the flavor. Make sure to take a pic and send it to me.

  • kool others who cant eat gluten. i mean not kool but u know i like having others who get it

  • nicee

  • awesome!!

Got to try this with my kids!!!

  • amazing idea!

  • TO JE DOBRO TUDI Z GOLAZEM....

  • @lslavychecker Ďakujem a dobre variť R Barrett

  • Can you add to that mix with that egg white

  • @beshanin Sure, however you'd like to enhance the flavour, just don't add any oil

  • Can you add to that mix

  • you should take "gluten free" down because this isnt.

  • @MegEb3 It is if you use gluten free soy sauce, which I mention in the description

  • Great Idea I am gonna try and use my pyrex bowls with nonstick spray and a light sprinkling of corn meal so it sldes off like a pizza dough...

  • I made the bowls in smaller sizes and used as an appetizer with orange chicken in the middle....they were so cute and yummy...and every1 wondered how I did it! Thanks for the ideas.

  • @EBABE143 Thank you so much. Next time take a picture and send it to me

  • Great idea, great video! Well done.

  • If there is time, let's talk about the cooking.

I do work of the cooking in Japan.

  • That's HOT!!!!

  • very creative!!

  • theres a better way to make the bowl... u can put a real bowl in the foil and wrap the foil around the bowl and then take out the bowl and u have a mold.

  • @MontthiewOrbano it tends to fall apart and expand because the creases fall apart, although it's not terrible. I tried many, many options. If you try in, take a photo and send it to me. :-)

  • really great idea (wish I had thought of it!! I suscribed even though I'm not a dad (or a man for that matter) lol

  • i LoVe how u walk out to put the RICE in the grill w/ out taking the rice w/ u heheheh at 5:44 also wat i dont get is that u still need a plate to hold the bowl hehehe but LoVe the idea n i will try it thanx

  • oops, you're right. As for needing a plate, even with a bread bowl you don't just put it on the table. They still to on plates.

Good luck and let me know how it comes out.

  • yeah actually i did it today it came out good but my rice bowl burned a little but over all it was good thanx =)

  • That's good, hold the dog over it to make it good and appetizing.

  • this is really cool!

i want to try it :)

anywho i hope you get onto food network!

  • Cool, I will have to try this!

FYI: Your recipe is NOT GLUTEN FREE.

Kikkoman soy sauce has wheat! First ingredient listed on the bottle. There are other alternatives, like San-J soy sauce or HyVee brand soy sauce. An easy substitution to make them gluten free!

  • you are correct, to make it gluten free you need to use a gluten free soy sauce, which are readily available. If you make one, take a pic and send it to me.

  • I'll try it with a gluten free soy sauce and video tape it!

From our private messages, you said you could cook these in the oven at 350 for 20min. Thanks!

  • Ha ur a rlly good chef. PS. Minnesota rocks... That's where I live haha. You should make cookies sometime. Or soup.

  • Easiest way to "cut" an egg white is with the edge of the broken shell. Works well getting a shred of shell out of the bowl, but equally well at dividing an egg white in half.

...and one more thing...ahem... your foil is made of aluminum, not tin.

  • Great idea, i just watched the twin cities vid also.

  • OMFG I WANT TO TASTE IT

  • im thinking...pot pie tins

  • su much easier to make brownrice syrup birds nests

  • steeelllaaaaa hahahaha shes adorable. lol

the rice bowl looks awesome...im too lazy to make that tho lmao :)

  • made of win

  • Cool idea!!!

However, the question is... Is a rice bowl better or equal tasting then regular white rice, or is this just a novelty thing for fun?

I'm worried I'd do all this work and then wish I hadn't!

  • that's a valid question. I would say this is something you do on a special occasion. Rice is fine the way it is, in the same way bread is, but a bread bowl is just more fun. So it is with the rice bowl.

  • Now THAT'S definitely going on the menu! thanks!

  • This dude is a great chef! I learned the Prime Rib from you!

  • I saw your patent pending thing...

You could make pre-made bowls or rice bowl kits! That's probably what you were thinking. People love to buy kits....especially busy families. Kids think they're so much fun. :)

  • Good video....We'll be trying it! Kids would think it's fun!!

I have a question....since you're a fellow Minnesotan...I was wondering if you knew how to make lefse? :-) We buy it and put butter, sugar and cinnamon on it...but it would be nice to make our own lefse.

I think most people in the U.S. don't eat it or really know what it is.....that's what I've noticed. They're really missing out!

  • Yummmm

  • I usually separate the whites by placing the egg in my hand and letting it drip through.

That non-stick foil is a godsend! I love it!

    Incorporating Origami & cooking... awesome!!

Stella is just too cute :)

I will definitely try this... thanks Rob!
