  • wow @ 1:33 unleash the fire!!

  • Ha Ha Ha ! .. Alpha Males , Alpha BLUES ....I want some more! Thanks! ... Hypnotic!

  • never even heard this, never mind seen it. Thanks.

  • Deep, natural, filthy sex.

    Bad as bad can be.

  • Where can I find the Whole Movie??? plz help

  • @Aminharp1 I have never seen this movie online anywhere but I found it on Amazon and don't regret that purches at all. Enlightful and the music is just out of this world brilliant.

  • Dam this is exceptionally good music.

  • I Love this song, whats the drummer's name?

  • @wolfepac5 i think it might be the bass player's brother, who often played with them in this period, but I don't know his name.

  • @icbtunit i retract that comment based on simple observation, the most powerful of scientific methods.

  • Lovin Buddy's woody tone in this one :D

  • Lennon & McCartney are amazing, as we all realize. But NOTHING can touch the onstage marriage of these two. Long live their music (I met Junior once at Legends in Chicago a year or two before he passed away, he was a great guy, but it's too long a story to re-tell by typing).

  • Junior: quit it buddy

Buddy: you got some balls doin that

Lady in the Back: HEY LET IT GO!

    Buddy: See :D

  • where can i get this movie? all the places i looked say it was from 1972. but the videos on youtube say 1970.

  • @brandobum9 I just picked it up the DVD from Amazon

  • You can see where Hendrix got it!!!

  • 5 people are keeping the "Stupid Motherfucker" gene alive in the human race.

  • Simply put: it gets no better than this.

  • and you can hear early 'beatbox' in his style. Remember these guys set the benchmark for a lot of the 'so called bluesmen' of today.

  • This is beautiful!

  • This is what is under the dictionary heading for Chicago Blues!

  • Haha when Jr grabs Buddys guitar you can hear someone yell " Hey!... let it go!".

  • One of the best turnarounds I've ever heard, just before Junior cuts Buddy off. A guitar tab or advice would be appreciated where to find it. Thanks.

  • 1:58 jesus let the man fucking solo...

  • @SKAuthenticDank He got to go again dont worry

  • @SKAuthenticDank I know what you mean, it looks rude but its really a tongue in cheek sort of move done by many of the old players, their was always a deep respect that surpassed this kind of stage-antic. All the best to you. Richy

  • @richardd2063 That's correct; it's called showmanship.....there were plenty more solos where this came from that night.

  • this is great music.

  • What key is the song in? please and ty.

  • @898Revan Song in Bb

  • I love how at 2:00 he just grabs the neck of the guitar and stops him

  • that honestly just made me tear up kinda bad

  • the greatest blues team that ever lived

  • BLUES GENIUS, this is the West side

  • Only Junior could grab Buddy's guitar like that to stop him from over playing. WOW!

  • This is the first blues song I fell in love with last year. I met my now girlfriend right after I met the sound. What a low point in my life, drugs and gambling. Now I love junior wells, and the blues!!!!! This is a piece of musical brilliance!

  • most intoxicating beat ever. what a groove, man. buddy and junior. cohesive and tight, blues to the core.

  • Many will disagree, but I always thought Buddy sounded at his best when playing a Guild Starfire.

  • @BLacKCatB0ne I have always thought that. I think he should go back to the fantastic tone he had here.

  • @BLacKCatB0ne I totally agree. That warm sound just does it for me.

  • The chemistry between these two is just fucking awesome.

  • UNHHHHH

  • I doesn't get much better than this. This is the music of dreams (well mine anyway)

  • at 1:54...we see Jr Grab the neck of Buddy's

guitar and stop him dead in his tracks, or so

it seems. But this is a smooth bit of slick

showmanship that they had worked out. I've

seen em do this a few times back in the day,

and not just on this tune. This cut here is classic.

So glad it was caught on tape! Thanx for posting

    BluesGeek 7 seconds ago

  • @BluesGeek

Funny that it's a bit from them, because to me it looked like Jr. was stopping Buddy in his tracks because of something like: "Hey, stop stealing my thunder. Remember who's the star of this here song." or something like that.

  • thanks for posting this i use to hang out at the checkerboard in the eighties and junior use to drink and clown around with me we would play every night i always listened when he had something to say anyways that cat could really sing the blues junior was funky too he was doing that james brown shit before james brown thats what i heard i dont know but junior was funky he was like a father figure to me he taught me things that would help me i miss u junior rest in peace junior

  • BLUES RELIC . THE REAL BLUES DEAL

  • Is Junior playin thru amp? I see he's using the microphone coupling technique, singing out of two mics. I know Junior played thru vocal but just wondering if he's playing thru an amp on this song.

  • OK. Junior grabs Guy's guitar as an EXPRESSION. Thats what black ppl do..haha., I know Im black. We do things as expression, dont have to really have a reason, just attitude, flavor, style. Its just a feeling thing. Thats why we dont rely on note for note, measure for measure, verse for verse. Ha...take it easy. Peace!

  • @cedricleecason like just like Hendrix, brother, right? =)

  • only one man can grab buddy's fretboard and mute him... that man is junior wells

  • @TheChrisborn Yeah I saw that and went looking for comments on that. I saw them at the Fillmore, as Bill Graham took pains to bring quality music to the hippie set. Occasionally instead of Guy, the guitarist would be Louis Myers, Dave Myers' brother.

  • he had to stop Buddy Guy cuz he was bouta go off on that guitar. Haha, dont let Buddy get started cuz he'll rip it any time any day. its too easy for him.

  • four thumbs down. i can only assume those people are either deaf or dumb.

  • Btw, this song isn't called "Cryin' Shame" it's called "Country Girl"

  • @JilaX -- The song is known by both names. However, in his filmography, Paul Venon lists this version as "Cryin' Shame," and that's good enough for me.

  • @lupine22 Just saying.

Since the record that contains the full cut of this, along with the full cut of "First Time I Met The Blues" from the same concert/session, names it as Country Girl.

  • @JilaX yeah man duh

  • like this one best

  • i want bigredlover77 & Wally773MTG back! btw , i saw many times Jr putting his imperious hand on Buddy's neck. killer! " hey Jr, what are you doing! " aaah, showmen.

  • best blues duet there is, to quote Buddy, "we ain't been together for 6 or 7 years, I go close to you Junior and THERE IT IS!" Hell yeah!

  • As awesome as Junior's singing and Buddy's playing is (and god knows it grooves), half the appeal is the sheer attitude both dudes pound into the song.

  • scary good ! whoa ! man !

  • Nobody did it better then Junior!

  • By the fuck Buddy can play that there guitar! Can t he ?

  • this is the definition of a blues supergroup

  • Rolin like butter down a fat girls back..hell yeah play those BLUES ...uhh..feels good...hep me nah!

  • what was that all about at 1:54?? lol.

  • Hit me!

  • Damn! this shit is TOO funky!

  • what key is the harp in?

  • Believe Eb harp.

  • Love Junior. He didnt care what he blow out of! He just had tone!!!

  • says right before that he thought he heard his baby say... junior listen =P

  • Oooh of course x)

  • he sings:

    'That's when I heard my baby say . . . Junior, listen!"

  • AWESOME..

  • demais

    eu amo blues e futebol

  • Surely one ogf the great bluesmen of all time. A true Giant. Thank u for helping to keep his legacy alive!

  • A second look at that mic, it may be a Shure 585. The head of the mike he is using is not solid at the bottom like a 533SA.

  • Is that a Shure 533A mic he's playing? Love the PA playing from Junior with any mic.

  • I love that "omph, omph" in juniors playing.

  • @torrity Its kool, Im starting doing it now, and its a habit. I better get it under control b4 I do it too much :)

  • Does anyone else think paul butterfield sounds a little bit like junior wells?

  • Lordly guitar playing

Junior Wells also one with the groove

  • all i can say is CAN I GET A AMEN?

  • Amen !!!!!!!!!!

  • Since i been listening to the blues, i am starting to enjoy them! I like the blues !I like the way junior wells sings this song !

  • the ultimate team; buddy and junior! this is so fine. that groove. listen to buddy. wow! i dig ol junior, too, man. ain't nothin like these two dudes.

  • Watch out now!

  • i second that...the finest groove ive ever heard..the whole band here playin....this movie never gets old...after 15 years of whatching this on vhs it still cant be topped...please inform me if there is some other vid i should hip with. :)

  • Awe some.

  • Oh Junior ! & Buddy...just perfect.

  • This is one of the greatest sounds I've ever heard, the whole band, what a groove! Incredible music!

  • Buddy Guy + Junior Wells = PERFECT

  • @BordiniBlues85 they made an acoustic album togheter

  • They were just messing around; Buddy couldn't keep the smile off of his face during his second solo. They played together for years before this, and this was one of their regular gigs.

  • well your obviously a small hearted arrogant fuck who can't understand screwing around...magic hands...fucking tool

  • You cannot grasp the depths of my heart, 'little boy'!! Hell, you can't even type an actual coherent thought. Calling someone a "tool" is an insult?!!! HaHaHA!!! You're a fucked up child!!!! I'm a screw-driver. you're a screw.any questions?

  • it took you 5 month to come up with that?

  • It took 5 months to notice your puny statement! Sorry 'sport', but responding to inexperienced little boys isn't my priority. BTW... you don't know anything about playing the blues. And that's a fact. -Only an idiot &child would subscribe to using the word "tool" as an insult!!!! You're useless!!! And you're obviously a homosexual. Maybe you could ask your Mom to give you your first anal orgasm!!!!!!!! HA!!!!!!

  • @bigredlover77: Why do you keep calling me little boy? You working out some kind of fantasy here? You like touching "little boys?" Or maybe someone touched you when you were a "little boy." I bet you loved it when your good old uncle jack bounced you on his lap and stuck his fucking tongue in your ear. Also tool is a widely used slang term for dick or cock, not sure if you knew that or why you think I would get offended...not like I made it up or was the first person to say it.

  • And explain to me how I don't know anything about playing music...here do me a favor and name bass note of a V43/ii chord in the key of D# and then explain what a plagal cadence is (I can hear you franticaly googling now). For the record, and all theoretical knowledge aside, I will fucking guarantee my god damn farts have more soul in them than anything you could ever do if you do actually even play music.

  • @Wally773MTG I've heard you trying to play. Even w/ all those expensive lessons you had, you still have 0 soul and you're not even technically good either. I never needed lessons.

  • Where and when have you heard me play? And I have never had a lesson for harmonica, I've taken piano lessons and bagpipe lessons and trumpet lessons and voice lessons and theory class but never harmonica lessons. I wish I had though, if you honestly think you are better off with out lessons than you are a fucking moron. I don't care if you are jesus tity-fucking christ there is always gonna be someone better than you that you can learn from. And if your so good how come I've never heard of you?

  • @Wally773MTG You don't listen too well, do ya? I said I don't need lessons. Not to mention, you don't know who I am! Are you so stupid to measure a musicians talent because you haven't heard of them??!!!! Ha!! I'm 100% sure you haven't heard, & know nothing about many great talents in this world. One thing's for certain... you can't play the harmonica!!!!!

  • @Wally773MTG I think he was referring to the difference between formal and informal lessons...

  • Fantastic!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • Giving me goosebumps !

  • Just amazing - for those of you interested there is a reissue of Hoodoo Man Blues by Junior Wells Chicago Blues Band with Buddy Guy on super audio CD (SACD) by Analogue Productionos as well as a 45 rpm audiophile vinyl edition - one of the best albums period I've ever heard bar none be it blues, jazz, rock or anything else - a true 'desert island disc'

  • Yeah! Blues with attitude!

  • so much soul on the stage it's unbelievable! I wish I was living in the seventies :(

  • RAW BLUES POWER !!!!

  • que poder de voz, y como toca la armonica... me dejo con la boca abierta, que buena onda este caballero del blues.. yeahhh

  • its all about the wells man

  • Saw Junior and Buddy in Louis' Nightclub in Glasgow in 1987. It was their one concert in the UK on their way back from the Paris Blues Festival, Buddy said. They sang this song. I would have died happy on the way home. Spoke to some people from Sweden at the gig who had travelled just for that on concert.

  • What always amazes me about these two men is that -- for all their talent and prowess at playing their respective instruments -- their voices are just so outstanding and perfect.

Many times, I enjoy listening to them sing, every bit as much as I enjoy listening to them play. I think people overlook their singing talent, which is a shame. They could have never picked up an instrument, and they'd still be exceptional.

  • @Tarwater03 That is absolutely true.

  • This is as good and sweet as it comes..........I would not trade having scene Buddy Guy and Junior Wells,

we'll the experience is and was priceless.

    Talk about a harp player!

Junior Wells was so sharp he was amazing.

Buddy Guy we all love and apppreciate him for all his inovation and from that stems a school of Guitar in the Blues music, especially Jimi..

What a pair...meant to be together...

What an incredible show it was !

  • This song is actually called Country Girl.

There is a greta version of this song by Sugar Ray on a Walter Horton Album little boy blue.

  • omg @ 2:02!!

  • is this from the chicago blues movie. i wish i could find this.

  • Phenominal timing between the two of them as well as th i don't care attitude.

  • Holy smokes Buddy's first solo is so nuts awesome. Wow.

  • gimme a drummer who can sit tight like that.

  • SHIT I know this WHITEBOY named Mickey from RAT CITY,WEST SEATTLE,WA who could play just as tight as that drummer... He plays just like Bernard Purdy.....holla at me and I'll shoot you his tele number if needed...Have your cash ready though because he wants PAY!!!

  • Like, who cares? The world will still turn in spite of your massive stupidity. Profound, huh?

  • The movie "Chicago Blues" from 1970 is amazing

  • simply great

  • this is so damn cool

  • baddass to the bone...

i love how junior wells grabs buddy's guitar to stop him from soloing on. one of the best partnerships in the blues.

  • Best that I have ever heard Buddy playing--just a really emotional punch. Great!

  • "the first time i met the blues" is a better performance from buddy guy, check it out, its on here.

  • Buddy had a great tone here, really strong, loved his sounds back then!

Junior's singing and harp playing is great too, the way he could get an amped-up sound from just the vocal mic is amazing, He was Mr. Tone Pocket.

  • Very nice...testify to what you thought you heard; testify to what you thought you felt.... and then believe that you did.

  • this is a textbook on how to throw down

  • yes

  • you know, that i know, that they know that they are the baddest and bestest

  • One of my all-times faves. To me one of the best blues singers - not just one of the best harpists! And a great guy too.

  • Anyone know what key harp he's using in?

  • The Key is Bb, Junior is playing in 2nd position so he's using an Eb harp.

  • Comment removed

  • nonono,, the Song is in Bflat, play it in 1st Postion, you'll get it, but as the Harp sound higher than a B flat harp , it will be sure a cross Eflat HArp dude!!! keep Bluesin, !!!! Greetings from Tunisia

  • Wow!

  • Wow!

  • boys and girls - it doesn't get any betta than this right here

  • Great voice! I've seen him live once. He came on stage to sang one song with Buddy Guy and people went crazy as soone as he started to sing.

  • nice to see Jr. Wells on video- Thnx

  • Buddy guy was better supporting junior wells than as solo artist. His playing has more feel and he does less. Fuckin great!!

  • ooohhh how cool is Junior? check the face he pulls at 2:04 hahah yeh! and that starfire sound awesome! aagghh damn thats nice.

  • fantástico!!!! excelente!!! the best

  • throw down junior...

  • I really think the "grab the guitar neck" thing may be part of the act, or Junior Wells knew the camera was rolling and wanted to put a little more drama into it.

  • Man Buddy looks so much like Wesley Snipes on his second solo haha

This is one of the most emotional Blues perfomances i've ever seen.. what i've give at the crossroads to play like Buddy

  • Man I get goosebumps watching that video. I had the pleasure of driving Junior Wells around the city of Missoula, Montana to all the bars one night after a gig at the U of M Campus. What a jam up time we had that night and tons of laughs. Cool as a cucumber he was!

  • Man I envy you :)

  • Ive listened to this performance since I was 12 years old, had no idea there was video for it. Going to get the full dvd. Absolutely brilliant performances from 2 Blues giants. Thanks for posting.

  • this is on DVD??? where? what? hello? what's it called? :)

  • If you Amazon - Chicago Blues [1972] Is the DVD you want

  • thanks.. just bought it! :)

  • anyone got this as mp3? Can't find it..

  • Yes I do, give me an email address I can sent it to?

    Tim

  • Let me tell you the story of one bad dude, strutting across the stage like a harp-toting gangster, mesmerizing the crowd with his tough-guy antics and rib-sticking Chicago blues attack...

    Junior Was A Bad Mother

  • All u dumb motherfuckers arguing I marked you as spam. Shut the fuck up listen to buddy and just vibe.

Awesome intro. thanx for posting lupine22

  • You're so right man,so right!!!
