sit ups are a thing of the past, this movement is just gonna shorten your hip flexors, which is gonna lead to lower back pain, dont do it, train smart people. look at some of stuart mcgills videos on youtube.
before watching this video, i would have my legs at a much smaller angle, and the sit ups were crazy difficult. now, is it just me, or does the angle in this video make them really easy?...
ugggh i'm gym i tired to tell my teacher that i always learned having my feet be weigh down just a little but no on the curl-up test i always get zero because of this :((((
Please answer, when I do a situp, I seem to do it with my neck, I mean like when I do a situp, my neck strains. Only when I do a bunch does my stomach hurt
@UnknownProfilename you use you upper abs for proper breath control the whole set is part of your core and is a major part of your everyday activities
hi , can u answer a question ? i have a small apartment so i have to do sit ups on my bed its kinda soft .. so my question is does it have the same effect like on ground or that think you are sitting on ( sorry bad english ) :) thanks
@iowngta yes I am american. This country has gotten way pass unbelievable. Everything has to be made super easy for people or they make excuses for why it shouldn't be done cooking, working out, you name it!
He said the sit-up is falling out of favor because of back problems. THAT'S BULLSHIT THE SIT-UP IS NOT DONE BY TOO MANY PEOPLE BECAUSE THIS COUNTRY IS FULL OF PUSSY ASS DUDES!!!
@JEDIFROMHOTH no, he said "it has fallen out of favor by many people because they BELIEVE it to cause back problems, but this is due to them doing it incorrectly."
Great video, people need to know how to do things the right way without getting hurt.my knee angle is i would say smaller and dumbbells definitely help. I put my hands behind my head, not laced and not pushing so i guess its alright.
@HHH23WWW Don't put your hands behind your back, because most likely your hands would push your head up, and then you hav e neck problems, in my opinion find a way to where you like it and to where you use your abs, not your hands
hey i have 143 pounds and i am doing 100 abdominal crunches,200 sit-ups, every morning 1 hour walk, every evening running and in the day i ride my bicycle. I want to know if i can get abs in 3 months by doing this every day?
@TheSvinja If you don't take a day or two of from working out, you won't notice that much of a difference. Your muscles need time to repair themselves. You can still run everyday though.
I have problems placing my feet completely down on the floor due to feet problems I developed as a child. Does this weaken the effectiveness of the push-ups I do?
Mostly, I do all my sit-ups by putting my hands on my neck and lifting myself up. I didn't know that can cause people problems with their neck or back. I feel pain on my neck, head, face, back, and the chest for doing improper sit-ups. Thanks.
@freestylemusic4ever Your back will ache at first because crunches/sit-ups train your lower back to a degree also, as your muscles develop and become stronger you will notice the aching significantly less.

@chingpongionglong NOTE: i am not a professional, this is only my opinion -as far as i know time is not important, it depends the your sched. ( according to my friend's trainer)
-well some do a little warm up before push ups or sit ups so your body won't hurt too much
i am ectomorf 147 pounds/65 kilos,6'2''/188 cm and almost 16 years old.I train with an 22 pounds/10 kg dumbell 4.4 pounds dumbell and an 11 pounds dumbell.I Eat healthy and every day fruits and vegetables an i play fotball 90 minutes per day.Can you please tell me an workout and a diet to gain 1 kg of weight per month????thank you!!!please respond!!
@TheKingrage youre just like me i asked the football coach and he gave me these bars to eat and im gaining some weight, you should ask the coach at your school
Being part of the police academy they are always telling everyone to lace their fingers behind their head. Half way through are necks hurt more than are mid sections. Hard to say anything to the instructor because he goes off on a war path talking about how many degrees he has. I'm sure if we were able to do them correctly we would be able to do more than we are now.
Thank you for posting this, I had my hands behind my head and not enough weight on my feet. Not only can I do more now, but I'm no longer stressing my spine. Much appreciated!

people dont realise if your doing the excersise work your just hurting your body and meh i think im doing mine correctly ive already get a six pack but i want one like cristiano ronaldo (no homo) as in his is more defied than mine is
@DavaJr may be we're talking with different units :D here where I live a "right angle" is 90 deegres, the guy's knees make an angle that's wider than a right angle, so it can't be 45°
@bluegene001 It is 45 degrees even I can see that he means with his hips so if his knees where in the air they would be at 90 degrees to the hips or if they were on the floor.
Haven't watched the video yet, but doing sit-ups at the moment seems to hurt my back a lot more than my chest. Doesn't seem worth it...but lets see what this video has to say.
@rtw2k Okay man thanks for the advice. It isn't the only way to develop your chest so I'll do a few every now and then, but just stick to classic press-ups!
if u want to get ripped abs and upper body then check out my channel. im 16 and all my excersises are done at home and the work reallly good. i also give diet tips. so check it out:)
Do not follow this, I repeat do not follow this workout! When the feet are under the weights or anything else to hold on to while doing situps is bad. You are working the hip flexors more than the abdominals... You can do as much situps as you want, even 1k and you still will not get "amazing abs" if you follow this mans advice. Have a nice day =]
Im very qulified and have trained Mainy athalets, Im not saying that they dont have disavantages and alot of what your saying is right, There are disavangeges to every diffrent sort of exersise I could write an S.A of how bad a latpull down is for you but again theres exersise done with others has many benefits. Im also one of those people thats writes the things that you are qoteing. What you said was not coming from you it was coming from something you read.
@SuperDanielclark yes i made sure to say my numbers were from Dr. Stuart McGill, the best source today for low back pain and disorders. he's like a Jedi when it comes to the spine. as for the other stuff, i did not discover lower cross syndrome or anterior pelvic tilt. but i did not copy and paste that response either. lat pulls arent really bad for most people, just less effective than pullups. but sit ups are worthless for everyone. the core should be trained for stability, not flexion
a crunch is anther word for a limeted way of going a sit up, a crunch is where your body is comming all the way up as the guy in the video is doing. A stumuc curl which is anther from of a sit up is not a crunch due to the fact that your upper body only contracts to 20 degrees
If i can ask for your opinions and tips: I have two workouts Workout A is more on lifting weights It consist of five sets, one set is - Dumbell Curls -Military Press - Sit ups -Bench Press -Squats Doing all of these is considered one set, which is done five times Workout B Consist of mostly cardio including a five mile run and cardio I do these workouts alternately, i do A today and B tomoro and A the next day My question is, is this a good regime or do u have any opinons? Changes?
@SchwarzundWeis id like to see a youtube video of it then show us you can do 2.4k situps in 14minutes. actuall push ups not girl pushups or half ass pushups.
sit ups, in addition to hurting your back, dont make your abs better, functionally or aesthetically. read t-nation if you need some ideas for ab exercises that actually do something
im a personal trainer and have all ready commented on many comments, I dont know what your back round is. Sit ups on there own can lead to back trouble if thats the only core movements you do, due to musle inbalence, How ever it is quite wrong to say that they dont do anything for abbs they work your rectus abdominus which is the largest of your core musles. They can also in many cases done properly prervent injury and que it
@SuperDanielclark anyone with a Muscle & Fiction subscription can be a personal trainer, so that on its own doesnt make you qualified. Situps also work your hip flexors a lot more than your abs. Most people already have lower cross syndrome and need to stretch their hip flexors, not contract them. Finally, sit ups and crunches put about 760 lbs of compressive force on your lumbar spine, according to Dr. McGill. they cause more injuries than they prevent. DO NOT DO THEM
@Deddarth no, you will get over developed hip-flexors, then anterior pelvic tilt, then low back pain. the best exercise for nice looking abs is pushaways
hi Im a personal trainer from london, Yes Never do it, It strains your slenus group of your musles behind your neck which effects all back movement and in some cases hamstings which is located in the back of your legs.

how long does it take for me to get abs, if i do about 400-450 a day?
popopopo230 1 year ago
@popopopo230 never. good looking abs have nothing to do with situps, crunches, etc.

this is wrong because you're not suppose to put weight on the feet.

@footballis4ever then why dont you make a video and show the correct way instead of hatin on people..stupid ass fuck

Stuart McGill, the best source today for low back pain and disorders. he's like a Jedi when it comes to the spine. as for the other stuff, i did not discover lower cross syndrome or anterior pelvic tilt. but i did not copy and paste that response either. lat pulls arent really bad for most people, just less effective than pullups. but sit ups are worthless for everyone. the core should be trained for stability, not flexion

could anyone tell my what crunches are?
ODST3CHIEF 1 year ago
a crunch is anther word for a limeted way of going a sit up, a crunch is where your body is comming all the way up as the guy in the video is doing. A stumuc curl which is anther from of a sit up is not a crunch due to the fact that your upper body only contracts to 20 degrees

@SchwarzundWeis id like to see a youtube video of it then show us you can do 2.4k situps in 14minutes. actuall push ups not girl pushups or half ass pushups.
QiiBy 1 year ago
ok, lets see who can do more pushups. my record is 2,439 in 14.73 minutes
anyone better?
SchwarzundWeis 1 year ago
sit ups, in addition to hurting your back, dont make your abs better, functionally or aesthetically. read t-nation if you need some ideas for ab exercises that actually do something
rtw2k 1 year ago
im a personal trainer and have all ready commented on many comments, I dont know what your back round is. Sit ups on there own can lead to back trouble if thats the only core movements you do, due to musle inbalence, How ever it is quite wrong to say that they dont do anything for abbs they work your rectus abdominus which is the largest of your core musles. They can also in many cases done properly prervent injury and que it
SuperDanielclark 1 year ago
@SuperDanielclark anyone with a Muscle & Fiction subscription can be a personal trainer, so that on its own doesnt make you qualified. Situps also work your hip flexors a lot more than your abs. Most people already have lower cross syndrome and need to stretch their hip flexors, not contract them. Finally, sit ups and crunches put about 760 lbs of compressive force on your lumbar spine, according to Dr. McGill. they cause more injuries than they prevent. DO NOT DO THEM

Would three (3) sets of thirty (30) of these a day help out with getting some nicely shaped abs if I keep at it? =]
Deddarth 1 year ago
@Deddarth no, you will get over developed hip-flexors, then anterior pelvic tilt, then low back pain. the best exercise for nice looking abs is pushaways

so putting your hands behind your head period is wrong? because others do it with there hands behind there head
ALLMIGHY100 1 year ago
hi Im a personal trainer from london, Yes Never do it, It strains your slenus group of your musles behind your neck which effects all back movement and in some cases hamstings which is located in the back of your legs.
