Friend of mine joined the Peace Corps they dopped him off in some shit hole in South America , the friendly native people ripped him off robbed him stole every thing he had, he quit after 3 months.
@Theozzie11 I didn't go, my daughter went. She was fluent in French before she went, but by the time she came home she was extremely fluent. Also, she learned the language of her village.
Thank you for this video. I understand that it does not include pictures of vibrant, ultra-modern downtown Capetown or Addis Abeba, or of highly affluent neighborhoods of Dakar, because that's not where you were. If a Togolese person went to live for two years in a French village, there would be more fields and modest homes in her photos than Parisian modernity -- but that's what she will have honestly experienced. Your photos illustrate deep respect for people on this continent. Merci.
I want to join Peace Corps when I'm older, I know I can do it. Every once in a while I watch a video like this and it just inspires me to do good things, be patient, and be a hard worker. Someday, I'd like to help people in a foreign country, just like you did. Thank you so much for your video and for being a great person helping others :)
beetoofr. Yes, parts of Africa are quite modern, however that was not part of my daughter's experience while she was in the Peace Corp. If you are not happy with this video, feel free to make one of your own and share it.
i think foreign countries like America need to stop playing with "Africa " and start telling the truth ...Africa is a continent not a country..also there is not only starving people in Africa...oh one more thing...Africa is not a jungle where there lion or elephant or whatever walking on the street....us African are tired of u people marketing all these lies about this beautiful continent ...seriously it wont hurt u people to show how modern we are in Africa..thanks!
@beetoofr The point of this video was to show someone's experience in the Peace Corps, not demonstrate all of the progress that has been made in any African country. I don't know why you would act so offended by the pictures here. They're beautiful, especially the ones of the children. I could practically feel the joy that was shown in their faces.
Thank you for making this video, it is very beautiful, and your story hit me emotionally. I hope to join the peace corps Africa when I finish college, it is such a beautiful continent and there is so much help to be done there :)
Wow, those photos are so inspirational! Beautiful. They have made my mind up to do something similar! i'll probably watch this a few more times in the meantime. thank you!
I found your pictures very interesting. However, I wish I had more information about where they were taken; it appears that at least some of them were in Ghana.
@jkesewa Yes, she did visit Ghana while living in Togo for two years. She visited most of the surrounding countries including Benin. Peace Corps was a great experience for her and many others.
@realanncampbell Yes, some are in Ghana... some in Mali and some in even in Timbuktu. My daughter lived in Togo for over two years and this is a compilation of her experiences while living there.
I loved this video!!! Your such a role model to me...I want to join the peace core so bad I am only 17 so I have some time before I actually go for it but thanks for the video your a real inspiration to my generation of girls :)

@jaraide12345678910 Thank you for replying to my video. My daughter learned to speak Ewe when she lived there in the Accra region, but I did not know what the song was saying, only that it came from a CD of Togolese music.
Thanks for putting this video together. I was a PCV near Kpalime and recognized the shots from there, and the waterfall on the mountain heading up towards Misahoe.
An absolutely beautiful video! Am hoping to visit my friend in Togo very soon. She is also in Peace Corps. Thank you for sharing your experiences!! :)
I'm 17 right now and joining the peace corps is a dream of mine. it's one of the very few things i am absolutely sure I want to do during my life.

@beetoofr true. A lot of westerners dont know much about the world simply because they dont need to. Its not their fault

the music is deceptive this a tune for east africa not west africa. from the lion king. the exotic wild animals are in East africa (Tanzania & Kenya)
ajetha786 1 year ago
@ajetha786 Yes, the music is deceptive. but fun. The first song is actually a Togolese child, which I thought was pretty cool.
